Abstract

The watch case comprises, notably, a case band 1, a crystal 14 and a back 5 detachably mounted on the case band and a caging ring 6 assuring the positioning of a movement 22 in the case. The case band 1 has an upper opening 2 designed to be sealed by the crystal and a smaller-sized lower opening 3 defined by a projection 7 radially extending inward to its lower part. The caging ring 6 has an upper portion 10 and a lower portion 11 containing outer surfaces 12, 13, the dimensions of which correspond respectively to those of the upper opening 2 and lower opening 3 of the case band 1, the ring 6 being insertable in the latter through its upper opening before mounting of the crystal and placed so that its lower portion 11 is engaged in the lower opening 3 of the case band 1. The back 5 is held against the lower surface 8 of the projection 7 of the case band by means of set screws 9, tightening of which assures the locking of the caging ring 6 in the case.

Description

The present invention relates to watch cases, and more specifically it relates to a watch case comprising a middle-bezel on which are removably mounted a base and a crystal, and in which a movement can be positioned by means of a circle casing.

The object of the invention is to provide a construction of watch boxes of small thickness, provided with means for fixing the bottom and glass of very small size, and whose flat appearance is further reinforced by the possibility of use a shaped bezel, receiving a large dial and crystal, while the bottom may be circular and of small dimensions so as not to extend to the edges of the lower part of the bezel .

To this end, the watch case defined in the claims of the application implements in particular a bottom maintained at the lower part of the middle by means of fixing screws, the anchoring of these screws and the respective configurations of the middle. bezel and casing circle being determined so that the tightening of the screws simultaneously secures the bottom and the blocking of the casing circle, the latter can also participate in the compression of seals, in the positioning of the glass , and in certain embodiments specific to its immobilization.

  • - la figure 1 est une vue de dessus d'une boîte de montre selon un mode de réalisation de l'invention, dont la glace et le mouvement ont été retirés;
  • - la figure 2 est une vue partielle en coupe selon la ligne II-II de la boîte de montre de la figure 1;
The invention will be clearly understood on reading the following description, made in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, among which:
  • - Figure 1 is a top view of a watch case according to an embodiment of the invention, from which the crystal and the movement have been removed;
  • - Figure 2 is a partial sectional view along line II-II of the watch case of Figure 1;
  • - Figure 3 is a view similar to that of Figure 2 of a second embodiment of the invention.

As can be seen in FIG. 1, a watch case according to a first embodiment of the invention comprises a middle-bezel 1, for example of shape, which has an upper opening 2 and a lower opening 3 of smaller dimensions ., The upper opening 2 is preferably in shape, and it is intended to be closed by a glass (not shown), engaged laterally in abutment members 4 forming slides extending on two opposite edges of the middle part 1 The lower opening 3, preferably circular and of reduced diameter, is closed off by the bottom 5. A casing ring 6 is placed in the case by the upper opening 2 of the middle part.

The section of FIG. 2 shows that the lower opening 3 of the middle part 1 is defined by a projection 7 extending radially inwards, and against the lower surface 8 of which the base 5 is held by means of screws. fixing 9.

The circle 6 has an upper portion 10 and a lower portion 11, comprising outer surfaces 12 and 13 whose dimensions correspond respectively to those of the upper 2 and lower 3 openings of the middle part 1, its lower portion 11 engaging. in the lower opening 3.

In the embodiment shown, in which the crystal 14 is held at the upper part of the middle part 1 by stop members 4 forming a slide which prevents it from escaping upwards, the upper part 10. of the circle 6 has a first bearing surface 15 for urging the periphery of the glass 4 against the stop members 4, while its lower portion 11 comprises a second bearing surface 16 which comes into contact with the bottom 5. The screws fixing 9 of the base 5, accessible from the outside of the case, are engaged in threads 17 of the middle part-bezel 1, in such a way that their tightening, after placement of the bottom, causes, by means of the action of the bottom on the bearing surface 16 of the circle, a displacement of the latter in the direction of the glass, until the moment when its bearing surface 15 comes to bear, directly or preferably by the through a seal 18, against the lower periphery of the glass 14 p or press it against the stop members 4. A flange 19 is placed on the dial 20 to hide the seal 18, the invisibility of which from above the box can be guaranteed in a manner known per se by a layer of metallization deposited under the ice. A second seal 21 may be disposed between the bottom 5 and the lower portion 11 of the circle 6, next to the second bearing surface 16 of the latter, for example.

The casing of the movement 22 is easy and is carried out as follows: the circle 6 and the movement 22 are introduced into the middle part of the bezel 1 through its upper opening 2, then the seal 18 and the flange 19 are put in place , before the glass 14 is engaged laterally in its slides. It then suffices to fix the bottom 5, after fitting the seal 21, by means of the screws 9, the tightening simultaneously causes the application of the bottom 5 against the lower surface 23 of the projection 7, the blocking of the circle 6, that of the glass 14 and the compression of the seals 18 and 19. The disassembly of the box takes place inversely, and it suffices, to allow the ice to be removed, to ensure that a space of height h is available in the assembled state of the box between the upper portion 10 of the circle 6 and the projection 7 of the middle part, to allow during disassembly of the back, a displacement of the circle sufficient to release the pressure it exerts on the ice.

In Figure 3, there is shown a second embodiment of a watch case according to the invention, in which the screws 9 are engaged in threads 17 made this time in the circle 6 itself, so that their tightening causes the application of a lower surface 25 of its upper portion 10 against the opposite upper surface, 26, of the projection 7. Preferably the lower surfaces 8 of the projection 7 and 27 of the circle 6 then come in the extension one from the other. A wide annular seal, 28, having passages 29 for the screws 9 is disposed between the surfaces 8 and 27 on the one hand, and the facing surface on the other hand.

The lens 14 is driven in a known manner into the upper opening 2 of the middle part 1, with the interposition of a seal 30 in 1. The flange 31 acts as a spacer between the lens 14 and the circle 6 .

The casing is produced by introducing the circle 6 and the movement 22 into the middle-bezel 1 through its upper opening 2, then the base is applied against the lower surface 8 of the projection 7 by tightening the screws 9, after fitting the seal 28, so as to simultaneously block the bottom 5 and the casing ring 6. Then, the flange 31 is placed on the dial 20 and the glass 14 is then removed in the opening 2. To dismantle the watch, it suffices to remove the case 5 and the winding stem, then release the crystal 14 by pushing on the lower part of the circle 6 via a conventional stem , this thrust being transmitted to the ice 14 via the flange 31.

It is clear that the constructions described above, in particular making it possible to produce boxes having an upper opening of large dimensions, while those of the lower opening remain limited, allow a corresponding reduction in the dimensions of the bottom, the edges of which thus that the fixing screws can then be pushed back towards the center of the box, and are thus more easily hidden from view.

Although it has been described with reference to two particular embodiments, the invention is in no way limited thereto, but is on the contrary liable to numerous modifications and variants which will appear to those skilled in the art.
