- the pin is provided with two spaced-apart portions of reduced width, and the two apertured bosses of the second part of the hinge are both provided with respective slots adapted to engage the reduced-width portions of the pin, so as to facilitate assembly operation of the parts to be connected by the hinge.
- This construction though allowing simpler and more rapid assembly operation for the parts, is of relatively complicate and weak construction, in particular due to the pin conformation and to the slotted configuration of both bosses of the second part of the hinge. In other words, this construction is unable to provide the necessary sturdiness required for vehicle door hinges in order to ensure safe connection of the door to the vehicle body even in case a crash or uncontrolled opening of the door.
- a further object of the invention is that of providing the components of the hinge with smaller dimensions, particularly the diameters of the pin and boss for receiving the pin as well as providing a hinge requiring a smaller travel for fitting the parts together, the whole being advantageous as regards the weight and size and competitive production costs.

- the portion of reduced width of the pin is defined between two parallel flat faces on the pin.
- the hinge according to the invention has the practical advantage that it allows the hinged mounting of the vehicle door to be effected by only two light manually applied forces, laterally and vertically respectively. Furthermore, the hinge is of more simple and sturdy construction, which effectively prevents accidental disengagement and separation of its components.

- the door is then made to slide downwardly in the direction of the arrow B, the bosses 14 and 15 sliding on the respective pins 6 until the pairs of bosses 14 and 15 are brought into contact with the lugs 5.
- a small U-shaped spring clip 20 is then located in the annular groove 8 of each pin 6 to lock the hinge assembly.
