Description

The invention relates to a method for the mechanical packaging of bottles in an opening for the bottle necks packaging, in which the bottles are continuously advanced and the packaging blank is placed after a deflection over a circular arc section during the movement of the bottles at an acute angle over the bottle necks.

The invention further relates to a packaging device for packaging bottles in openings for packaging having bottle necks with a feed device for the bottles and a device for applying the packaging blank to the bottles. Such a packaging device should be suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention. be.

Usually three, four, square or ten bottles are packed in the packaging concerned here, the bottles being arranged in one or two rows next to one another and their necks protruding through the openings of the packaging. Such sales units have been on the market for years and are becoming increasingly important.

Of course, this packaging is produced fully automatically. The method mentioned at the outset is known from US-A-3,162,988. A packaging blank is pulled from a magazine open at the bottom with the help of suction cups and placed on a rotating conveyor chain. The conveyor chain runs over two sprockets of different sizes and has drivers that push the individually cut packaging blanks. The drivers push the packaging blanks around the circumferential surface of the larger chain wheel, with an outer guide holding the packaging blank in engagement with the driver. On the underside of the sprocket, the packaging blank falls onto bottles that have been transported at the same speed. The chain conveyor still runs slightly downwards in the conveying direction of the bottles and finally presses the packaging blank over the bottle necks at the level of the second sprocket, so that the packaging blank is now approximately parallel to the conveying plane of the bottles. During this process, the packaging blank is still in engagement with the associated driver and is transported by it. It is therefore necessary that the driver advancing the packaging blank and the driver advancing the bottle group lie exactly above one another and are synchronized with one another. Since the packaging blanks cannot be lined up seamlessly on the chain belt, the bottles must be divided into groups which are at a certain distance from one another, which corresponds to the distance between the packaging blanks transported on the chain belt. The bottles are usually grouped together by braking the bottles or by accelerating and then braking, as a result of which the desired groups are formed. This requires considerable mechanical effort. In addition, the conveying speed of the bottles and thus the maximum packaging speed is limited by the need to accelerate or slow down the bottles. It has been shown that a desired rapid packaging of the bottles (for example 220 bottles per minute) is not possible according to the previous methods.

The object of the method according to the invention is therefore to enable the packaging to function properly even at higher speeds than before, the mechanical outlay not being increased.

This object is achieved in that the packaging blank is deflected with a releasable connection on the circular arc section and pulled with its front opening over the neck of a bottle, that immediately afterwards the connection of the packaging blank is released and this is further conveyed through the bottles engaging in the openings and that the package blank is moved over a bottle neck at a higher web speed than the bottles until it overlaps its front opening.

An essential advantage of the method according to the invention is that the grouping of the bottles, which requires a lot of effort, is no longer necessary. In the method according to the invention, the bottles can be advanced at high speed without gaps and the packaging can be opened. Since the packaging blanks are transported at a higher speed than the bottles, the space between them when removed from the magazine does not mean that a space must also exist between the groups of bottles. Since in the method according to the invention the packaging blank is pulled and not pushed, as in the prior art, high packaging speeds can be achieved, since the packaging blank is placed over the front bottle near the point at which it is held.

Since the transport of the packaging blanks takes place at a higher speed than the bottles are transported, the changeover from one number of bottles per packaging unit to another can only be done can be achieved by switching the conveying speed for the packaging blanks. The position of the connecting elements on the circular arc section need not be changed.

The object on which the invention is based is further achieved by a packaging device of the type mentioned at the outset, in which the packaging blanks are conveyed against a rotating wheel which is arranged in such a way that the lowest point on its circumference lies below the highest point of the bottles, and that the Pulls packaging blanks with a detachable connection on its peripheral surface and leads with the front opening over a bottle neck, whereupon the detachable connection of the wheel releases and bottles engaging in openings pass the packaging blank under the wheel, the wheel having such a rotational speed. has that the packaging blank is advanced by the wheel faster than the bottles.

The packaging device according to the invention enables the packaging blank to be applied to the bottles in a mechanically simple and compact form, with no grouping of the bottles being necessary. The packaging blanks are fed to the rotating wheel and bent over on its peripheral surface. If the packaging blank is fed approximately vertically from the magazine, the packaging can be applied from the magazine to the bottles in the shortest possible way.

The wheel preferably has clamps with which the packaging blank is gripped and pulled over the bottles, the clamps opening immediately when the front opening of the blank engages around the bottle neck in question. The wheel is preferably designed so that several clamps are arranged over the circumference of the wheel. This is useful because it reduces the rotational speed of the wheel.

In particular for the production of packaging with a single row of bottles, it is advantageous if the wheel consists of two wheel disks. These can grip the packaging blanks at the outer ends, so that the openings of the clamped packaging blanks are located one behind the other between the two wheel disks.

The wheel is arranged so that its lowest circumferential point is below the top of the bottles. The wheel automatically ensures that the blank is pressed into the horizontal position when the blank is pulled through the front bottle under the wheel.

The closing and opening movement of the clamps is preferably controlled with cam disks which ensure that the clamps open at a defined point, for example at the lowest point of the wheel. If the wheel consists of two wheel disks; a common cam disk can be provided for the control for the same cut-fitting clamps of the two wheel disks, so that the synchronism of the clamping movement of the wheel disks is ensured.

For simple conversion of the packaging device to a different packaging, in which a different number of bottles belong in a row in one package, the drive of the wheel is preferably equipped with a switchable transmission, the transmission ratio of the individual gears to each other the ratio of the number of different packages in a row arranged bottles corresponds. When moving from a three-pack to a four-pack, it is only necessary; to slow down the rotation speed of the wheel so that the beginning of the cut is only drawn over every fourth bottle. The conveying speed of the bottles remains unchanged, so that the packaging performance in the number of bottles per unit of time remains constant.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and will be explained in more detail below. Show it:
  • Figure 1 shows the schematic structure of a packaging device with a rotating wheel
  • Figure 2 shows the position of the rotating wheel when receiving a blank
  • Figure 3 shows the position of the rotating wheel after the blank is pulled over the front bottle.

The packaging device shown in FIG. 1 has a magazine 1, in which packaging blanks 2 are stored in an upright position and are conveyed against stops 4 by means of conveyor chains 3. The blanks arrived at the knobs 4 are transported vertically downwards with the aid of vertically standing conveyor belts 5 and reach tangentially to the peripheral surface of a rotating wheel 7 consisting of two wheel disks 6. There the blanks 2 move into open clamps 8, which after a short another rotation of the rotating wheel 7 immediately close and take the packaging blank 2. The gripped end of the packaging blank 2 is bent away from the conveyor belt 5 by the rotation of the rotating wheel 7 and held by the rotating wheel until the front edge of the blank 2 has reached the lowest point of the wheel 7. There open the two clamps 8, which had held the blank 2 in question.

Simultaneously with the described movement of the packaging blank 2, bottles 9 are continuously advanced at a constant speed with the aid of a conveyor belt (not shown).

Figure 1 shows the side of the conveyor belt extending chain links 10 which partially encompass the bottles and protect them against twisting on the conveyor belt. This is necessary if the labels of the bottles 9 are to keep a certain orientation in the packaging, for example if the packaging has a window-like opening through which the labels (for example of wine bottles) are to be visible.

When the packaging blank is bent by the rotating wheel 7, the front of the three openings 11 of the blank present in the exemplary embodiment shown is pulled over a bottle. For this purpose, the lowest point of the wheel 7 is below the highest point of the bottles 9. In the lowest point, the clamps 8 open, so that the packaging blank 2 now through the bottle 9, the bottle neck of which engages in the front opening 11 1, at the speed of Bottles 9 is pulled.

If the openings 11 are completely free, the blank will already fall over the remaining bottle necks due to its own weight and thus fall into the plane determined by the bottle necks parallel to the conveying plane of the bottles.

If, on the other hand, the openings 11 are partially closed, so that certain punched holes have to be opened or tabs have to be bent up, the rotating wheel 7 acts as a pressing means which presses the packaging blank 2 into the plane mentioned when the bottle 9 engaging in the first opening underneath the blank 2 pulls through the wheel.

The wheel rotates so fast that the path speed of the packaging blanks 2 when driven by the rotating wheel 7 is greater than the conveying speed of the bottles 9.

After the blanks lie on the bottles 9 in the plane parallel to the conveying plane of the bottles, they are bent over their upper fold lines 12 so that the sides of the packaging are parallel to one another. Then the packages with pressure rollers 13 are gripped laterally and the conveyor belt is lowered, so that the bottles are advanced further at the same speed as on the conveyor belt, but are independent of the conveyor belt below. The packaging is then bent over at the lower fold lines 15 by a special folding device 14, as a result of which the bottom is formed by two overlapping parts. These are glued together.

In the manner described, fully automatic production of so-called 3-packs is thus carried out by simple means.

Figures 2 and 3 illustrate the control of the terminals 8, which are designed as two-sided levers, of which one arm is spring-loaded, whereby the terminal 8 is normally open. Eccentrically mounted cam disks 17 roll over the circumference of a fixed central axis 16, which are at an angle of 90 ° to one another, since clamps 8 are provided on the wheel 7 here. When the upwardly open clamp 8 has reached half the height of the wheel 7, the packaging blank 2 has just been inserted into it. Under the influence of the cam disk 17, the clamp 8 closes at this point, so that the packaging blank 2 is held by the clamp. The wheel 7 rotates at such a speed that the first opening 11 is pulled over the first bottle 9, which has not yet been packed, when the wheel 7 has made a quarter turn. In the lowest point of the wheel 7, the clamp 8 opens again, since the cam disk 17 no longer acts on one lever of the clamp 8. This position is shown in Figure 3. The packaging blank is then pulled along with the first bottle 9 at the speed of the bottles and pressed over the two other bottle necks by the rotating wheel 7. The lowest point of the wheel 7 lies here in the plane in which the redirected and straight blank is located behind the wheel 7 and which is parallel to the conveying plane of the bottles 9.

With the same device as has been explained with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3, packaging with four or five bottles can also be carried out in succession. The conveying speed of the bottles 9 can remain unchanged, it is only necessary to change the rotational speed of the rotating wheel. When changing from a three-pack to a four-pack, the speed of rotation must be slowed down in a ratio of 4: 3, since the first opening 11 of each blank only has to be pulled over every fourth bottle 9.

This switchover can be carried out very easily if, for the drive of the wheel, which is otherwise derived from the drive of the conveyor belt, a change gear is provided, which has gears with a gear ratio that are the same as the number of bottles in the desired packaging behavior.
