Description

The invention relates to a device for cutting vertical paper webs with a cutting wheel, which is arranged in a cutting carriage movable transversely to the paper web, and which runs along a cutting edge during the movement of the cutting carriage, over which the paper web is guided.

For a number of applications in which printers are used as output devices, printing and output of both single forms and continuous paper is required. In the latter case, it is necessary to cut off the continuous paper after printing and to drop it on a storage device. Such devices should work safely without the help of an operator. Cut-off devices for paper webs, in which a cutting wheel along a cutting edge designed as a counter-cutting edge perform the cutting process by moving a carriage, are known (DE-CU 78 12 759, DE-A-26 55 832).

A device for cutting vertical paper webs is also known (FR-A-23 07 658), in which a link guide is also provided for pressing on a paper holding element, which is actuated by the cutting carriage and presses the paper against the cutting edge by means of a pressure roller. An additional paper guide above the cutting point makes it easier to pick up the paper web deposited when cutting. If this known device is to be used in printing devices with which both continuous paper and individual forms are printed, problems with the paper guidance can occur. In this case, the paper routing must also take the various operating cases into account. Practically, this means that the paper guide must be reversible in two positions depending on the operating mode, which requires an additional control mechanism. The paper guide, which in these cases is a kind of switch, must have a gap through which the cutting knife or the cutting wheel can be brought to the paper. Such a gap-like opening makes it difficult to insert single forms, load continuous paper and transport paper.

Furthermore, in the known arrangements, the paper guide is open in the operating position provided for cutting continuous paper in the direction of a paper tray, which leads to the paper not being guided exactly and e.g. B. takes a very shallow angle with respect to the cutting edge. This has an unfavorable effect especially when cutting thin or perforated paper.

The object of the invention is to provide a cutting device which does not require any particular control for the various operating cases, which always ensures a gapless and secure paper guidance of the paper to be printed, and which enables problem-free paper insertion and problem-free paper transport. This object is achieved in accordance with the characterizing part of claim 1.

Since in the device according to the invention the paper guide can be pivoted above the cutting edge and is controlled via the movement of the cutting carriage along the cutting edge, an additional control is not necessary. The paper is not only within the paper guide not only during the transport and printing process but also during the cutting process, which has an advantageous effect on the actual cutting process, particularly in the case of soft or thin paper qualities or when cutting via the perforation of a folding paper.

Further refinements of the invention are characterized in the subclaims.

The invention is described below with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawings. Show
  • Figures 1 and 2, the device in a basic position and
  • Figures 3 and 4, the device in the operating position, during which a cutting process takes place.

The basic position of the cutting device is described first with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, i. H. the position in which the cutting carriage is located before or after a cutting process during printing and during paper transport.

The cutting device contains a cutting carriage 3, which is movable along a push rod 2 attached to a frame 1. On the frame 1, a link 6 is also pivotally mounted on the bolt 7, on which a paper guide 4, 5 is fastened. One end 5 of the paper guide 4, 5 is designed as a stop against which a pivotably movable flap 10 bears. The cutting carriage 3 contains a cutting wheel 11 which is mounted together with a pressure roller 12 on an axis 15 on which a compression spring 13 is also arranged. The compression spring 13 serves to press the cutting wheel 11 against the cutting edge 16. The axis 15 is supported on one side on a fork 17, namely on the lower side in an elongated hole. This enables a tilting movement of the axis 15 parallel to the cutting direction, the cutting wheel 11 assuming an optimal position in every direction of a cutting process. A torsion spring 18 is attached to the fork 17. Furthermore, a guide roller 14 mounted on the cutting carriage 3 is provided, which is guided along the link 6 when the cutting carriage 3 moves and thereby brings the paper guide 4, 5 into the position required for the cutting process. In the in Fig. 1 and . Fig. 2 shown basic paper guide 4, 5 is pressed under the action of two tension springs 8 against stops 9 and held in this position. The flap 10 together with the stop 4 of the paper guide forms a complete guide area.

A cutting process, which is triggered, for example, by a control pulse, causes the cutting carriage 3 to move along the push rod 2 and thus transversely to the inserted paper from the basic position. For an explanation of the processes taking place, reference is made to FIGS. 3 and 4, in which this position is shown. When the cutting carriage 3 moves from the basic position, the guide roller 14 is guided along the link 6, which means that the guide roller 14 runs onto the link 6 and pivots it together with the paper guide 4, 5 firmly attached to it in the direction of the paper tray 19 . At the same time, the flap 10 is gripped by the pressure roller 12 and pressed against the cutting edge 16 which acts as a knife. Since the flap 10 serves as a paper hold-down device in this position, it is ensured that the paper to be cut lies tightly against the cutting edge directly at the cutting point, which considerably improves the cutting process by the cutting wheel 11; at the same time, the paper located therein is guided out towards the paper tray 19 via the paper guide 4, 5 which has now been pivoted away. The compression spring 13 ensures that the cutting wheel 11 is securely pressed onto the cutting edge 16. At the same time, the pressure roller 12 is pressed against the cutting edge 16 by the torsion spring 13. This position remains unchanged during the cutting process. After completion of a cutting process, the cut paper falls into the tray 19. At the same time, the cutting carriage 3 returns to the rest position described in FIGS. 1 and 2, and the link 6 is under the action of the two tension springs 8 up to the stops 9, which determine the basic position of the paper guide 4, 5, pivoted back.
