Description

The invention relates to the fixing in the ground of posts or stakes, more particularly, but not exclusively, for the purpose of producing fences.

Fence posts, made of iron or concrete, are traditionally placed in the center of a hole, pressed slightly to keep them plumb and surrounded by a die of poured concrete, which is packed so that its surface is a little below ground level. When the concrete is set, it is leveled with soil.

Given the drawbacks and the cost of implementing this traditional method, it has been proposed to anchor the stakes in the ground by means of dowels.

According to patent FR-A-209 7389, such an ankle comprises fins capable of being driven into the ground to form an anchor and arranged around a central passage allowing the relative sliding of the stake and the ankle. These fins are constituted by a plate suitably folded and profiled at its base and the passage consists of a puncture made in the folding zone.

This solution has various drawbacks: the punctured does not ensure the rigidity of the dowel if the latter is made of thin sheet metal and it only provides insufficient guiding of the dowel, which can be placed in relation to the stake when 'we strengthen it. The soil can even penetrate into the puncture and become interposed between the ankle and the post, which deviates the ankle from its correct position.

Other types of anchor or anchor bushings, described for example in FR-A-2 290 552, FR-A-1 541 756, NL-A-6 602 297, either do not allow a correct anchoring installation, or have a correct acrage manufacturing cost, or have a high manufacturing cost.

The invention eliminates these drawbacks and allows quick and easy installation of posts or stakes of any size, thanks to the use of an inexpensive manufacturing pin. According to a first embodiment of the invention, this dowel consists of two metal plates (1-2) zigzag shaped, each forming a single fin and having a folded edge resting on another plate, said plates being offset between them so as to delimit a central parallelepipedal space (3) which constitutes said passage and assembled by welding.

According to a variant, the dowel consists of two metal plates, one edge of which is folded several times at 90 °, the folded edge of one of the plates being fitted into the identical folded edge of the other plate to form a sheath constituting said elongated passage (Fig. 5).

The invention also relates to a method of fixing a pole or a stake using such a dowel and a driving and guiding tool used for the implementation of this method.

    • Les figures 1 à 3 représentent, respectivement en perspective, en plan et de profil, une cheville conforme à un mode d'exécution préféré de l'invention;
    • Les figures 4 et 5 représentent deux variantes d'exécution illustrées de profil; à la figure 5, les deux pièces ne sont pas soudées, mais emboîtées l'une dans l'autre pour former la cheville complète;
    • La figure 6 représente un outil manuel d'enfoncement de cette cheville; et
    • La figure 7 représente ou outil destiné à effectuer cette opération en coopération avec un vérin hydraulique ou analogue.
Other particularities, as well as the advantages of the invention will become clear in the light of the description below:
  • In the attached drawing:
    • Figures 1 to 3 show, respectively in perspective, in plan and in profile, a dowel according to a preferred embodiment of the invention;
    • Figures 4 and 5 show two alternative embodiments illustrated in profile; in Figure 5, the two parts are not welded, but fitted into one another to form the complete dowel;
    • FIG. 6 represents a manual tool for driving this pin; and
    • FIG. 7 represents or a tool intended to perform this operation in cooperation with a hydraulic cylinder or the like.

In Figures 1 to 3 there are shown two parallel metal plates 1 and 2, each provided with an edge folded twice at right angles, 11 and 21 respectively. Each folded edge is welded to the surface of the other plate, and the arrangement is such that the plates delimit a central parallelepipedal space 3. This space constitutes a sheath whose dimensions are very slightly greater than the outer sides of the section of a P-post to fix. It can be seen, moreover, that the lower edge of each plate has a cut corner, which has the effect of driving out small and medium pebbles during insertion and of facilitating the latter.

By way of example, for a post constituted by a T-shaped section iron of 40 x 40 mm, one could use a peg 50 cm high inscribing in a circle 50 cm in diameter, and forming a sheath of 41 mm side.

The variant of Figure 4 differs from the embodiment of Figures 1 to 3 only in that the outer edges of the two plates 12-13 are folded twice, like the inner edges. This shape facilitates cutting without falling from a strip of sheet metal. It will be noted that the shovel-shaped shape of the embodiments of FIGS. 1 to 4, results in a particularly economical embodiment, very rigid when inserted and with easy stacking.

Figure 6 illustrates the driving operation. First, the pin C, shown very schematically, is placed on the ground. Secondly, a false stake 15 is introduced into the ankle sheath over a length slightly greater than the height h of the ankle, so as to penetrate slightly into the ground. In a third step, one exerts shocks on the ankle using a metal sleeve 16 which slides on the rod 15; when the pin has been fully inserted into the ground (position shown in dotted lines), the false stake is removed and the post is inserted into the sheath. The insertion of the ankle by a false stake preserves the coating of the real stake.

The post is held in place by the wires of the fence or a light crimping at the top of the sheath and thanks to the penetration of its base into the ground beyond the ankle. The floor remains intact and clean.

The sleeve 16 is provided with handles 161 which allow it to be maneuvered. The washer 17 has an upper surface 171 which supports the shocks of the sleeve 16, and a lower surface having a peripheral part 172 which bears on the ankle and a hollow central part 173. The part 172 preserves the ankle from possible crushing, while the hollow 173 preserves the sheath of the ankle from a crimping which would prevent the subsequent positioning of the post or stake. The lower part 151 of the rod 15, by being introduced into said sheath, prevents the earth from entering it and facilitates the guiding of the pin.

In the variant of Figure 7, the upper part of the rod of the false stake is truncated and is not provided with a driving sleeve. It is reduced to a head 1 5a intended for the engagement of the piston P of a hydraulic cylinder V, or of any other mechanical driving device.

Of course, the pins which have just been described can be produced in order to receive poles or stakes of any size, section and nature, and include plates or fins in different numbers or in different shapes.
