Abstract

Curtain wall comprising a skeleton of posts 10 and transoms 20, which support solid or glazed panels 12, 14. Each transom 20 has a body part 22 and a projecting nose part 24, on which the panel is supported above the transom. Each transom 20 is joined to each supporting post 10 by means of a connecting element 80, 380, which is fastened to the post and extends laterally in such a way that it engages in the nose part 24 of the transom 20. The connecting element may be a pin 80, which is designed to fit into a cavity 32 in the nose part 24. The engagement of the connecting element in the nose part of the transom rather than its body part 22 means that the weight of the panel to be supported can be exerted on the transom without any torque. The nose part 24 of each transom 20 can be relatively long. A pressure plate 40 coupled to each transom 20 is designed to ensure ventilation of the internal cavity in the curtain wall in order to allow water to run away from inside the cavity. <IMAGE>
