Abstract

In an oral pharmaceutical polydepot preparation in controlled release, component units, which contain an active substance, are coated with an essentially water- insoluble but water-diffusible coating which gives controlled release and which comprises 1) an inner film layer which comprises a homogeneous combination of a water-dispersible film-forming agent and a polymeric substance which imparts compressibility on the coating, and 2), where appropriate, an outer film layer which comprises a film-forming agent which prevents adhesion between the unit at increased temperature and imparts flowability on the unit. The plastic deformability of the coating is sufficient for there not to be any significant changes in the release characteristics of the compressed coated unit as compared with non-compressed coated units. <IMAGE>
