Abstract
The present invention relates to an educational toy for children that is helpful in building motor, memory and dexterity skills through the identification and placement of decorative cover parts and their fastening means on a frame to create different styles. The fastening means are specifically designed as an elongate pin with a knob at its end. The frame and/or a decorative cover part comprises an enclosure (a toolbox) adapted for holding the fastening means. The toolbox comprises a lid and/or a wall with one or more holes therein, and the individual holes are configured to selectively receive a fastening means with a specifically shaped knob, such that the entire fastening means may pass through the lid and/or wall and into the toolbox enclosure. Thereby, while the child is playing with different designs/styles of the toy, he/she may also learn to keep track of things (the fastening means) in an educational manner.
Description
Educational toy vehicle
Technical field of the invention
The present invention relates generally to educational toys for children. More specifically, the present invention relates generally to an educational toy vehicle for children that teaches shape recognition.
Background of the invention
It is common practice to provide children with learning tools in the form of toys and games designed to amuse them while providing valuable educational lessons. US5645464 discloses sustainable assembly blocks, which includes a plurality of four types of units coveting a cube, a trigonal prism, a right pyramid, and a quadrant column, all of which are hollow with each respective surface having a centrally located ring opening to link it with a switch lock. The cube's six equal square sides are the same with two square surfaces of the quadrant column, three of trigonal prism, and one of the right pyramid. The two equilateral triangles of the trigonal prism are the same with four of the right pyramid. Interesting blocks are easily interlocked together. If necessary, the trigonal prism blocks cannot only connect together with cube blocks but can also connect with quadrant column blocks; assembly basis is then formed and the switch lock plays a key role. Combinations occur between same type and different types plus segment column blocks as necessary to connect with the above four block embodiments. The sustainable assembly blocks can create thousands of articles with unending changes.
Given the short attention span of children, there is a constant need to provide new and interesting toys to simultaneously amuse and educate them. The invention described herein fulfills this need.
Summary of the invention
The present invention relates to an educational ride-on toy vehicle that is helpful in building motor, memory and dexterity skills through the identification and placement of decorative cover parts and their fastening means on a frame to create different styles.
Thereby, while the child is playing with different designs/styles of the vehicle, he may also learn to keep track of things (the fastening means) in an educational manner.
One aspect relates to a toy vehicle comprising: - a frame adapted for mounting decorative cover parts thereon, the frame comprising one or more holes configured for mounting fastening means; - a seat adapted to receive a child; - a decorative cover part comprising one or more holes configured for mounting fastening means; and - fastening means comprising an elongate pin with a knob at its end; wherein the frame and/or a decorative cover part comprises an enclosure adapted for holding said fastening means; wherein the enclosure comprises a lid and/or a wall with one or more holes therein, and wherein an individual hole is configured to selectively receive a fastening means with a specifically shaped knob, such that the knob of the fastening means, preferably the entire fastening means, may pass through the lid and/or wall and into the enclosure. A decorative cover part may in some embodiments be a cover part shaped as a motor, a head- or backlight, a wheel cover, a mudguard, a number plate, a fuel tank, a kickstand, saddlebags/panniers, fenders, or the like.
In one or more embodiments, the knob of the fastening means is shaped as a decorative cover part.
Preferably, the toy vehicle runs on a child’s foot power, but pedals may in some embodiments be built-in.
In one or more embodiments, the frame comprises an enclosure adapted for holding the fastening means.
In one or more embodiments, the knob comprises a first and a second side face, and wherein the first side face is attached to the elongate pin, and wherein the second side face is shaped such that an individual hole in a lid and/or a wall of the enclosure may selectively receive the fastening means.
In one or more embodiments, the knob comprises a first and a second side face, and wherein the first side face is attached to the elongate pin, and wherein the second side face is shaped in the same way as an individual hole in a lid and/or a wall of the enclosure.
In one or more embodiments, a side face of the knob is of a shape selected from the group consisting of a star, a heart, a triangle, a square, a circle, and a pentagon.
It should be noted that embodiments and features described in the context of one of the aspects of the present invention also apply to the other aspects of the invention.
Brief description of the figures
Figure 1 shows a part of a toy vehicle (here shown as a part of a pushbike) in accordance with various embodiments of the invention;
Figure 2 shows a fastening means in accordance with various embodiments of the invention; and
Figure 3 shows a decorative cover part in accordance with various embodiments of the invention to be mounted on a toy vehicle.
Detailed description of the invention
Referring to Figure 1, the general scheme of the invention is shown. Figure 1 shows a toy vehicle (here shown as a pushbike/balance bike) 100 comprising a frame 200 adapted for mounting decorative cover parts 300 (Figure 3) thereon. The frame 200 comprises holes 210 configured for mounting fastening means 400 (Figure 2).
The toy vehicle comprises a seat 500 adapted to receive a child. The seat post 510 of the seat is also shown attached to the frame 200 with fastening means 400. The seat post 510 is here also a decorative cover part comprising one or more holes configured for mounting fastening means. Other decorative cover parts may be a cover part shaped as a motor, a head- or backlight, a wheel cover, a number plate, a fuel tank (Figure 3), a kickstand, saddlebags, fenders, or the like.
In Figure 1, the frame 200 comprises an enclosure 220 adapted for holding said fastening means 400. The enclosure 220 comprises a lid 222 with one or more holes 224 therein. An individual hole 224 is configured to selectively receive a fastening means 400 with a specifically shaped knob 420, such that the entire fastening means 400 may pass through the lid 222 and into the enclosure 220. The three holes 224 shown in the lid 222 of the enclosure 220 are shaped as a circle 224A, a hexagon 224B, and a triangle 224C, respectively.
In Figure 2, the knob 420 of the fastening means 400 comprises a first 422 and a second 424 side face. The first side face 422 is attached to the elongate pin 410, and the second side face 424 is shaped as a circle, such that an individual hole 224A in the lid 222 of the enclosure 220 may selectively receive the fastening means.
An example of a decorative cover part 300 attached to the frame 200 may be seen in Figure 3.
