It is known to use nitrocyclohexane by partial reduction with catalytically excited hydrogen elevated temperature and under pressure to convert into cyclohexanone oxime. This procedure, at where the nitrocyclohexane is used as such or dissolved in a reduction-resistant solvent has the disadvantage that the reduction easily proceeds through the oxime stage to the amine and that as a result the yield of ίο oxime is correspondingly lower. Even when in use special hydrogenation catalysts, such as S over zinc chromium oxide catalysts, succeed not to suppress the undesired further reduction to the amine, so that the oxime yield also here in the most favorable case is only 70% of theory (C. Grundmann, Angewandte Chemie, Vol. 62, [1950], p. 558). It has also already been proposed to convert nitrocyclohexane to cyclohexanone oxime to reduce by making solutions of a salt of this nitro compound with nascent or catalytically excited hydrogen treated in the neutral or acidic range. Even after this method produces significant amounts of cyclohexylamine as a by-product.

German Patent 910647 describes the catalytic reduction of nitrocyclohexane salts to cyclohexanone oxime in neutral or acidic solution in the presence of metals of Group VIII of the Periodic Table of the Elements. As from the examples of this patent specification, however it can be seen, the yields obtained are still unsatisfactory.
It is also known that one can reduce nitrocyclohexane to cyclohexanone oxime with a larger number of chemical reducing agents, such as. B. Zinnchlorür, Zink 'etc., perform can (see French patent specification 1034457 and British patent specification 691024). However, these processes have the disadvantage that the isolation of the pure oxime is difficult prepares.
Die Herstellung des Cyclohexanonoxims kannThe production of cyclohexanone oxime can
auch durch Umsetzung mit Hydroxylamin bzw.also by reaction with hydroxylamine or
ao Hydroxylamindisulfonsäure erfolgen (vgl. z. B.ao hydroxylamine disulfonic acid take place (see e.g.
deutsche Patentschriften 907 776, 907 JJJ1 900 094, 898 000, 888 693). German patents 907 776, 907 JJJ 1 900 094, 898 000, 888 693). Compared to the above-mentioned processes in which the reduction is carried out with catalytically excited hydrogen, this route is, however, more complicated.
It has now been found that nitrocyclohexane can be converted into cyclohexanone oxime in good yield and avoid the formation of cyclohexylamine if you use solutions of salts of nitrocyclohexane with thorough mixing in the presence of molecular hydrogen and a palladium catalyst in mineral acids'.
The rate at which the nitrocyclohexane salt solution is introduced is expediently so regulated that the aci-form of nitrocyclohexane formed as an intermediate in the acidic medium instantly due to the catalytically excited hydrogen present to form cyclohexanone oxime is reduced.

Da dieThe reaction can be carried out at temperatures up to ioo °, recommended a temperature range between 10 and 40 the 0th Since the
If the reaction is exothermic, it may be advisable to cool the temperature too much to prevent.
The salts of nitrocyclohexane can be, for. B. use alkali or ammonium salts as those are dissolved in a water-miscible alcohol, preferably methyl alcohol. With as well With good success, solutions can be used that can be obtained by dissolving nitrocyclohexane in methyl alcoholic alkali or in methyl alcoholic ammonia.
Suitable mineral acids are those which do not poison the catalysts used. as Hydrochloric acid, which is used in about 10 to 30% concentration, has proven particularly beneficial can. The dilution of the acid can be done with water or a water-soluble alcohol or a mixture of both can be made.
The amount of acid introduced is preferably 1.2 to 2 times the amount of acid which is equivalent to the alkali used to dissolve the nitrocyclohexane. It has proved advantageous that a p H is present after completion of the hydrogenation in the reaction mixture below about the second
The hydrogen can be under atmospheric pressure, but it is advisable to work with increased pressure, for example in a range from 20 to 50 at, to a faster hydrogenation and thus a to achieve greater throughput.
Finely divided materials, optionally on carriers such as animal charcoal, are suitable as the catalyst Barium sulfate, precipitated palladium.
In principle, it is also possible to carry out the reaction without using an organic solvent, thus to be carried out in a purely aqueous solution, but then occurs at the expense of cyclohexanone oxime a larger amount of cyclohexanone as a by-product.
The parts given in the examples are parts by weight.
Der Katalysator kann wiederholt benutzt werden.3 parts of 5% palladium carbon and a mixture of 35 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid (density = 1.18) and 70 parts of methanol are introduced into an acid-resistant stirred autoclave. After 30 atm of hydrogen had been injected, the stirrer was put into operation and a solution of 25.8 parts of nitrocyclohexane in 86 parts of iotyous methyl alcoholic sodium hydroxide solution was then introduced into the autoclave over the course of 1 hour with the aid of a metering pump. The temperature of the reaction mixture rises from 24 to 30 0 . After the pumping has ended, there is no more uptake of hydrogen. The filtered from the catalyst solution is brought by the addition of io ° / cent sodium hydroxide to a pH value 4 to 5 The methanol is distilled off under reduced pressure, most of the cyclohexanone oxime precipitating out. The oxime is filtered off with suction and dried. The remainder of the oxime and a small amount of cyclohexanone, which can be separated by vacuum distillation, are separated off from the filtrate by extraction with ether. A total of 19.5 parts of cyclohexanone oxime (86.3% of theory) are obtained. The catalyst can be used repeatedly.
