Das kann zu Spitzenspannungen von etwa 4 kV führen. Daher wird gemäß der Erfindung für eine Ableitung von schädlichen Spannungen gesorgt, indem im Bereich des Teilchenstrahls ein geerdetes Drahtgefeicht 5 vorgesehen ist. Dieses Drahtgeflecht, das beispielsweise auch aus mehreren Bündeln bestehen kann, führt dann über Erdungsleitungen, von denen in der Darstellung nur die Erdungsleitung 6 bezeichnet ist, an Masse.
