Description
Frequency divider circuit for electric musical instruments It is already known in frequency divider circuits for musical instruments with electrical sound generation to use multivibrators in the individual frequency levels.
A frequency divider circuit for electrical musical instruments can in principle be set up in such a way that generators that are independent of one another, which are called master stages, are assigned to the individual tones of the highest octave . H. Generators such as those i indicated schematically in FIG by small circles and designated by I, II, III ... XII, and can operate in a frequency divider chain each of these generators, the individual divider stages 1 "12, 13, 14;. 111 , II. Are each tuned to half the frequency of the preceding divider stage or master stage, so that they generate the corresponding tones of the lower octave. FIG It has also already been proposed to use self-locking oscillation generators, i.e. so-called blocking oscillators, in such a frequency divider circuit as ripple oscillation generators, taking into account various transformer measurement rules that are not of further interest here, in the event that the main stages of each chain are spatially adjacent to one another and other factors are taken into account , transformer dimensioning not detailed here either Rules for the case that the main steps are not next to each other, but are spatially offset from one another.
According to the invention, a frequency divider circuit for electrical musical instruments should be characterized in that the vibration generators of the highest frequency (master stages) in each frequency divider chain and the vibration generators (divider stages) synchronized by the master stage and each having half the frequency of the previous master stage from tube generators in three-point circuit exist whose resonant circuit inductances are only traversed by anode alternating currents, each of which also contains a resistor for decoupling the dynamic grid capacitances from the resonant circuit and which finally each have a low resistance compared to the payload resistance of the stage in question, with the resonant circuit. Have inductively coupled output winding.
Such a circuit has compared to the «initially mentioned known Frequency divider circuits as well as in relation to the one also mentioned at the beginning, at others Place- proposed frequency divider circuit, among other things, the advantage that the main stage and all divider stages have the same structure and are therefore very economical can be produced, as well as the advantage that they are in terms of each circuit-like Build-up and, especially in the case of a spatially crowded structure, stray interference that must never be avoided is particularly insensitive to external voltages.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in Fig. 2, wherein this circuit at the same time a number of other improvements and useful Atis designs of the circuit arrangement already characterized above in its basic features shows.
In Fig.:2 is based on the overall i selected in Fig. Designation, the strain level of 1 and a set of five divider stages with Il '12' * 15 denotes. What is involved here is a circuit of a complete, frequency divider chain for an electric musical instrument with a total of six octaves, in contrast to the five octaves in FIG.
The main stage I consists of the left half of a tube io, a parallel oscillation circuit with inductance ii and a fixed and an adjustable capacitor 1: 2 or 13, a decoupling resistor 14, a blocking capacitor 15 to keep the anode direct currents away from the oscillating circuit and, from a Ohmic resistor 16, via which the anode voltage is fed to the left part of the tube io from a terminal 2, 7 of a mains connection device 17. An output winding 18 is inductively coupled to the resonant circuit coil ii, which is connected on the one hand to the ground terminal ig of the power supply unit and on the other hand to a terminal 2o to which the payload resistor of this master stage is connected.
The divider stage I is switched in the same way in all essential points like the main stage and contains the right part of the tube as a tube. For clarification this similar circuit-like structure are also used in the main level already occurring switching elements have the same reference numerals as there, but with the Index i used.
The coupling of the main stage to the divider stage I is done via a series RC element, the capacitor of which is marked with: 21 and its resistance the decoupling resistor 14.1 is used.
Also the divider level 12 as well as the third, fourth and fifth sub-level are constructed in the same way as the divider stage III. Therefore, they are also in the second divider stage again the same reference numerals for the corresponding Sch & It elements as in of the parent level used, but with the index: 2. The one corresponding to the capacitor: 21 Coupling capacitor for coupling the second divider stage to the third labeled 2: 2. Again serves as the resistance of the coupling-the series RC element the decoupling resistor 142, which like the resistors 14 and 14, in the main stage and the first divider stage has the further task of the dynamic Grid capacitance of the left part of the tube: 23 from resonant circuit 112, 1221 132 to decouple.
So you can see that the main level and, all five divisor levels are constructed in the same way and that the coupling of each level to the next lower level is accomplished by means of a series RC element. The coupling capacitors: 2i and 2 ?, corresponding coupling capacitor between the second and the third divider stage is the capacitor: 24, between the third and fourth divider stage is the Capacitor: 25 and between the fourth and fifth divider stage the capacitor: 26.
In all of these coupling members the coupling capacitor is like that dimensioned that for the frequency transferred to the next lower level it is about the has the same alternating current resistance as that of the resistance in question Series RC element serving the decoupling resistor of this stage. With a practical Execution, the decoupling resistance 141 was about 1 megohm, and the capacitor 21 therefore possessed for the transferred from the master stage to the first divider stage Frequency also equates to the alternating current resistance of 1 megohm.
There is a retroactive effect of the first divider stage on the main stage in this case only to a negligibly small extent, since the capacitor 2 1 on the one hand for the frequency generated in the first divider stage, which is only half the frequency the parent stage has an alternating current resistance that is twice as high as that for the synchronization of the first divider stage on the part of the master stage, i.e. in the above-mentioned Example an alternating current resistance of: 2 megohms and there on the other hand the resistance 16, via which the anode DC voltage is fed to the main stage, only about Was 50 kilo ohms. The transferred back from the first divider level to the master level AC voltage is therefore only a small fraction of that on the grid of the first Voltage amplitude present at the divider stage, namely at the values assumed above for the capacitor 21 and the resistor 16 only 1/4. The same applies to the Retroactive effect of the other divider levels on the previous divider level. From the one on the grating of the second divider stage existing stress amplitude is also only a small fraction in the anode circuit of the first divider stage occur as the coupling capacitor: 2: 2 together with the resistor 161 again forms a voltage divider similar to that of the coupling capacitor 21 with the resistor 16.
A further improvement of the circuit shown is that the anode DC voltage, which is fed from the terminal 27 of the power supply unit 17 to the master stage via the resistor 16, is still modulated at a low frequency, for example 6 to 8 Hz. As a result, in the cycle of this modulation frequency, the characteristic of the left part of the tube is controlled further and less, and because of the slightly different mean saturation in the iron cores of the oscillating circuit inductances, depending on the respective level of the anode DC voltage, the mean value of the inductance, i.e. H. the oscillation frequency of the oscillating circuit, changed slightly. This creates an acoustic impression that is similar to that of the so-called tremolo of a violin, in which a frequency modulation is caused by slow modulation of the tapped string length. The oscillation frequency changes of the main stage also affect all divider stages, since these are synchronized by the master stage, and the tones generated by the divider stages show a corresponding tremolo effect like the master stage.
The grating of the rough main step lies above the center point of the resonant circuit inductance i i at the cathode of the left part of the tube io, so it has no negative bias compared to the cathode, how it is necessary to permanently maintain a generation of oscillation is required in the parent stage. The grids of the divider steps, on the other hand, are over the centers of the associated resonant circuit inductances all to the right end one by a capacitor: 28 bridged and by the anode direct currents of the Main stage and all divider stages through which the resistance flows. 29 connected, so that the divider step tubes are all negatively biased.
With reference to Fig. 3 , using the example of the parent stage of Fig. 2, it will now be explained why only a negligibly small interference in the dimensioning of the internal resistance of the output winding 18 already identified at the beginning compared to the payload resistance which is at the contact: 2o of external voltages takes place in the three-point circuit. To this end, an alternator 3o is shown in Fig. 3 , which illustrates the electromotive force from the frequency of the parent stage in the winding 18, a resistor 31 in series, which represents the internal resistance of the winding 18, and a resistor 3 completing the circuit : 2, which is the payload resistance, i.e. the load on the main stage at terminal 2o. The resistance 3? - was in practical versions a hundred times the resistance 31, namely 600 ohms versus 6 ohms or 25oo ohms versus 25 ohms. The external voltages interspersed by the divider stages in the main stage, which are the most dangerous frequencies in this regard, are transmitted in Fig. 3 via a branch connected to terminal 2o, consisting of a coupling capacitor 33, which distributes the capacitances in the cable harnesses etc., and from a second alternator 3, 4, which is connected to the capacitor 33 in series. The voltage of the generator 34 effective at point 2o causes currents in resistor 31 and resistor 32 which are in the inverse ratio of these resistances, i. H. in the payload resistor 32 only a hundred times less current than in the resistor 31. Experience has shown that this small proportion of the interference current flowing through the payload resistor of the parent stage is completely inaudible. A similar consideration also applies to the external voltages or interference currents effective in the divider stages.
