Electron tubes When operating electron tubes, it is necessary to
to ensure a good vacuum in the tube. A bad vacuum would
when the electrons collide with gas molecules, gas ions are produced which are undesirable
Ion currents could result. For example, when ions are formed
Lattice currents occur in an electron tube even with a negative grid. The invention
, is based on the knowledge that electron tubes are not only used for bad
Vacuum can cause disruptive ionization phenomena, but also because
the electrons striking the anode surface from the, anode surface,
which mostly contains adsorbed gas layers, trigger ions.
The invention avoids interference from these ions.
According to the invention this is achieved in that in front of the anode of the electron tube
an auxiliary electrode is arranged, the potential of which is permanent during operation
is more positive than the anode potential. In this way one achieves that in
the space in front of the anode - the potential against the anode decreases, so that positive
Ions that are formed in the gas directly in front of the anode or that come from the anode surface
triggered by the electric field in front of the anode back onto the anode
be thrown back.
Anode 4 umschlossen.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the figures of the drawing.
FIG. Z shows, for example, the Elelztro @ den arrangement of a designed according to the invention
Electron tube. The wire-shaped cathode z is supported by the two cylindrical grids
a and: 3 and the cylindrical
Enclosed anode 4. The grid
: 2, for example, has a negative potential and has the function of a normal
To meet control grid. The grid 3 is according to the invention during operation
kept permanently at a higher positive potential than the anode 4. This
positive ions emanating from the anode surface are transferred back to the anode
thrown back .. It is already known, in front of the anode of electron tubes,
which are used for amplifier purposes to arrange a so-called screen grid, the one
has positive potential. In the known arrangements, when driving
of the electron tube, the anode voltage may also temporarily be lower than the voltage
of the screen grid. This, however, the disturbing influence of positive ions, the
triggered by electrons from the anode surface, only briefly eliminated.
According to the invention, this is only achieved in that .man the screen grid during
continuous operation gives a higher positive voltage than reach the anode
can. When using an electron tube according to the invention for amplifier purposes
it is therefore taking into account the values that occur when driving the electron tube
Fluctuations in anode required, the voltage of the screen grid about twice as much
to be selected as high as the anode voltage. With an anode voltage of 100 volts
a screen grid voltage of about zoo volts is used. In order to avoid,
that released from the anode surface secondary electrons on the screen grid
can arrive in a manner known per se between the. Grid 3 and the anode 4
a so-called braking grid, which is at cathode potential, is provided
will. If possible, it must of course also be avoided that by impact
triggered by electrons on the grid -3 gas ions from the surface of the grid 3
will. For this purpose, the grid 3 will be formed from the thinnest possible wires,
or the grid 3 will be arranged in the shadow of the grid 2 with respect to the cathode.
In the embodiment shown in Fig. I is according to a further invention
between the control grid and cathode a grid 5 is provided, which is weak
positive potential to the cathode, e.g. B. to about 4 to 6 volts. Next to
a reduction of the space charge causes this grid - nor that of the cathode
escaping positive ions are retained and not to the negative grid
: 2 can get.
Fig. 2 zeigt die Elektrodenanordnung einer erfindungsgemäßen
Volt. The application of the invention has proven to be particularly advantageous

In the right half of Fig. 2, the voltage values are entered,

could give. If this arrangement is used as an ionization pressure gauge, it has

to suck out the electrons emerging from the cathode by impact ionization.
The size of the ionization current then gives a measure of the gas pressure. Using
an electron tube according to the invention as Ionis.ations@manometer is achieved in particular
higher measuring accuracy at low gas pressures, since ions are released
from the anode surface, which means a stronger ionization and thus a higher gas pressure
would pretend to be avoided.
