Overload protection for forged cranes and the like in forged cranes

only great skill on the part of the crane operator, but also his extreme attention,
because he also the variability in the processing speed of the ram
should take into account. Even if the crane operator fulfills all of these requirements,
undoubtedly lies in his collaboration with the press operators
always a danger to the crane.
The invention here shows a way
in which readjustment of the crane hoist is no longer necessary, but it is still
a safe protection of the crane against overloads guaranteed and finally
also has the advantage that the workpiece can be turned after the machining stroke
or is also lifted from the base for the purpose of moving the die; how
it was the case with the springs for the smaller commutes. The invention solves
this task by the fact that they are overloaded when the hoist brake is released

Applying this idea to the drive motor of the hoist,

which circuit also releases the hoist brake at the same time: the right tightening torque
is achieved by switching on appropriate resistors, for which one also appropriate

In the drawing, embodiments of the invention are for the
Crane of a forged brake shown, on circuit diagrams, of which Fig. I is one
Version for direct current and Fig: 2 shows one for three-phase operation.
In both cases i denote the hoist motor, which is a main circuit motor with a shunt winding for direct current and an asynchronous motor for three-phase current, 2 the brake fan with its safety resistors, 3 and 4 the two switch-on contactors for the forward and reverse gear (lifting and lowering) and 5: 6 and 7 the three levels of the starting resistance together with the associated contactors S , 9., io. In normal lifting and lowering operation, these parts are served by the lift master roller ii, which can be arranged on the crane itself in the usual way. In addition, the forging press is in the area of the control lever, i.e. on the floor of the workshop; a further switching drum i2 is provided, which forms the master switch for the press and, in this capacity, is operated simultaneously with the control lever, not shown, of the press or at least as a function of it. The dependency can also be realized by a lock, which - makes it impossible to operate the control lever without first switching the master switch to one or the other position. In the present case it is assumed that the master switch 12 is coupled to the control lever while maintaining certain idle times.
Man
The master switch 12 is in the rest position marked "0"
the circuit so that it does not hinder the work of the lift master roller i i.
When changing the switch 12 to the "i" position, what happens at the same time as the lowering
of the ram is done by the control lever of the press, switch 12
first to put the Hubmeisterwalze i i inoperative, which with their contact
a during normal lifting and lowering, the current connection of individual parts with the lift master roller
12 and which by turning switch 12 to the "i" position
is interrupted. The master switch 12 also contains the contacts b and
c, which also take effect in the »i« position, but there are two control circuits
14 and 16 close, in which contactors 15 and io are located. The contactor 15 closes
when energized switch 3, whereby the motor r receives current in the lifting direction. Simultaneously
the contactor io is closed via the contacts b, P and a resistor is switched on,
which at full load (= iooo / o Md) results in about a fifth of the 'iN, enndrehzahl. Man
receives this resistance from the starting resistance reduced by the part 5, 6,
7. The contactor needs iö in this case, since the entire starting resistor is switched on
whether it is due to the hoist being at a standstill or due to the previous ineffectiveness
the Hubmeisterwalze i i, only to short-circuit the partial resistor 7 to provide a for the
the following processes to obtain the correct torque.
The consequence of this stroke control of the motor is that it tries to lift the work piece until the work piece is stopped and taken along by the downward ram; whereby the lifting motor i is pulled through against its torque. This pulling through will be the easier, the less the torque developed by the motor exceeds the load torque. Too great a difference between the two moments will also be avoided so that the workpiece does not follow the ram too quickly and at a distance when it is lifted off. Since the starting resistors often cannot be used to precisely match the lifting torque to full load, a special resistor will be provided in such cases, and the starting resistors must then be short-circuited when it is switched on. This particular resistance lies in its size between the first two tempering stages, which are designed for 60 and 150 '/ or full load, of which there are usually three. The resistance is only so great that the motor slowly lifts the work piece at 100% load (= full or nominal load).
It is useful to determine the resistances according to the individual load ranges
to graduate, using the already subdivided starting resistances as combination elements
can use. With a sufficiently small subdivision of the starting resistances, these are
Already enough to make the adjustment to the individual load areas.
By switching on the respective load corresponding resistances
achieves that the lifting speeds for all loads only in proportion
small limits fluctuate.
While the ram goes down
the motor switching immediately with the start of the control lever movement or even before
this can use, it is when lifting the ram, so when returning
of the control lever, useful when resetting the shift drum 12 a little later
begins so that the load is removed from the lower die or from the stick or saddle of the
Press takes off. This delay in the shutdown of the lifting motor, which by
corresponding training of the 1litnehmerorgans on the control lever or by a one-sided
acting delay switch can be easily achieved, but should not be up
to be extended to the rest position of the control lever. The workpiece movement should
rather, stop about in the middle of the control lever movement so that the ram
in turn has the opportunity to stand out from the.: work piece: The work piece
is then with the motor a stopped and the hoist brake 2 tightened in one
Get stuck at the height at which it moves unhindered between the two rams,
can be pivoted or rotated by means of the turning device. With the provision
of the master switch to "0" then the old connections of the lift control roller become
i 1 restored for normal lifting and lowering.
