Cathodes are known; with which. a certain supply of emission substance
is present, which is not (used, rather
by way of an attenuation of active material from the supply and vapor deposition
on, the emission surface becomes effective: The emitting surface can be made from deth
Stock to be vaporized directly, so that they can be directly through molecular or
Atomic beams is hit. Cathodes are also known for gas discharge tubes,
in which the supply in a reticulated stocking, z. B. made of molybdenum
is such that when the stocking is heated, an emissive layer on the surface
of the stocking and can walk on it.
Based on experience with the two types of cathodes in gas discharge tubes
it turns out that they are not suitable for high vacuum tubes. The invention relates to
now a cathode; which are suitable for high vacuum purposes, especially for transmission tubes
is. According to the invention, a cathode for Hochv akuumröhren bribed from one
Carrier and a surrounding metallic, in particular made of wires
Cladding, and is the emission layer in the space between the carrier and the cladding
mounted on the carrier in such a way that it is not in contact with the jacket.
Examples of the implementation of the inventive concept are shown in the figures, The cathode
according to Fig. i and 2 consists of a support tube i for the supply a, on the longitudinal struts
3 are applied. In the resulting spaces q. is now the supply; z.
B. one or more alkaline earth compounds, introduced at such a level,
that he later wound the wire around the struts in touching turns
5, for example made of tungsten or molybdenum, is not affected. If the supply namely
z. B. consists of an Oxvd or carbonate of the alkaline earth metals; reacts to immediate
Touching the tungsten or molybdenum wire to a large extent so that what is operating
of the tubes is a great disadvantage. Furthermore, it is difficult to get on one
larger supply, which can be attached to a carrier with a binding agent
has to wind a wire without the supply flaking off. The winding wire can
you can also use a: thin tube made of molybdenum or tungsten with pores
substitute. With a radiator is referred to, The effect of the arrangement described
is as follows: Substance suitable for emission slowly evaporates from the supply
the back of the wire, then migrates to the surface at a suitable temperature
along the wire and thereby comes to the outside at places; on those in the company
the issue takes place.
