Description

Process for chemical sharpening of dull and worn tools The invention relates to a method for chemical sharpening of blunt and worn tools, such as files, rasps, rotary tools, and cutting tools in general.

According to the invention, the procedure is as follows: The tool to be sharpened is first subjected to a gate treatment by removing fat and rust from it in an alkaline bath. This bath must have a temperature of about 80 ° C. A bath with the following composition has proven to be particularly suitable: 100 cc of water, 125 g of caustic soda. The degreased and derusted tool is then thoroughly brushed off in lukewarm water and then placed in a 15% hydrochloric acid bath, in which it remains for 18 to 20 hours.

It is then carefully brushed again in lukewarm water. Now the actual chemical sharpening takes place in an io- to 15% nitric acid bath. The percentage strength of the bath and the duration of the treatment depend on the . Degree of wear of the tool.

Then it is brushed off again in lukewarm water and comes on Finally, briefly in a neutralization bath, in which the last traces of acid removed.

The tool is now dried, e.g. B. in warm air, on his Checked usability and finally coated with an anti-rust oil.

With rotating tools, those surfaces that are affected by the Acid must not be attacked, provided with a lacquer coating, which is used to Finally removed again.

The chemical sharpening guarantees that the profile, cutting angle and teeth are retained in their shape. Hardness errors and distortions, how they are often unavoidable with the hitherto customary sharpening, cannot occur.

Another advantage of the new method is that the dimensions remain. The tools can therefore be sharpened several times before a mechanical processing becomes necessary. Ultimately, the service life also becomes chemical sharpened tools increased many times over. Scientific investigations have shown that the performance of chemically sharpened tools up to 9o ° / o that of new tools. This fact is with the current shortage of raw materials, especially on tool steels, of particular importance.
