Den Gegenstand vorliegender Erfindung bildet ein Apparat zum Bestimmen des Kubikinhaltes von Baumstämmen, der besonders dann, wenn es sich um noch nicht gefällte Bäume handelt, von Vortheil ist.The subject of the present invention is an apparatus for determining the cubic content of tree trunks, which is particularly advantageous when it is a question of trees that have not yet been felled.

Er besteht im wesentlichen aus einem flachen Kasten a, innerhalb dessen eine feststehende Leiste b derart angeordnet ist, dafs die untere Seite eines in einer der schmalen senkrechten Wände a¹ angeordneten Schauloches c in der Verlängerung der oberen Seite dieser Leiste liegt. Diejenige Seite des Kastens, welche der das Schauloch c aufweisenden a^l gegenüberliegt , ist offen, so dafs man über die Oberkante dieser Leiste b hinweg visiren kann. Um einen waagrechten Zapfen d ist ferner eine zweite Leiste e drehbar, derart, dafs die Verlängerung ihrer Unterseite stets die obere Seite des Schauloches c tangirt. Mit dieser oberen Leiste e ist nun eine Stange / drehbar und unverschiebbar verbunden, deren Gewinde in dem einer Mutter g spielt. Diese ist an der Decke a² des Kastens α derart befestigt, dafs sie eine Schwingung in der Bewegungsebene der Leiste e auszuführen vermag. An der Innenseite der Rückwand α ³ des Kastens α ist ferner eine Scala h angeordnet, welche so viel Theilungen enthält, wie der höchste der zu messenden Bäume Längeneinheiten, beispielsweise Meter, aufweist. Mit dieser beweglichen Leiste e ist aufserdem ein Zugband i verbunden, welches eine im Gehäuse oder Kasten α drehbar gelagerte Rolle k umschlingt. Dieses durch eine Spiralfeder k^l der Rolle k straff gehaltene Zugband i ist mit einer Tabelle versehen (Fig. 5), ähnlich wie man sie in Forstkalendern u. dergl. findet. Von den bisher bekannt gewordenen unterscheidet sich diese Tabelle aber dadurch, dafs nicht die Spalte für die Durchmesser senkrecht und diejenige für die Längen waagrecht angeordnet ist, sondern umgekehrt. Dabei ist die Einrichtung so, dafs beim Bewegen der Leiste e an der Scala h entlang, und zwar von einem Ende bis zum anderen ebenso viel Rubriken für Baumlängen auf dem Zugband i an einer feststehenden Zeigerleiste / vorbeistreichen, wie die Scala h Theilungen enthält. Dabei mufs die die höchste Ziffer enthaltende Rubrik des Zugbandes i der Anschlufsstelle desselben an die Leiste e am nächsten angeordnet sein. Quer zum Zugbande i sind in gleicher Höhe mit den einzelnen Rubriken für die Baumlängen neben einander die Ziffern 10, "12, 14 .... 70, 72 angebracht, welche die Durchmesser in der mittleren Höhe des zu messenden Stammes in Centimetern ergeben. Unter jeder dieser Ziffern befindet sich je eine zweite, welche dem Kubikinhalt eines Stammes von der betreffenden Länge und dem mittleren Durchmesser entsprechen. Man benutzt den Apparat in der folgenden Weise. Nachdem er mittelst des Bandmafses ο genau in diejenige Entfernung vom Baume gebracht worden, welche bei der Herstellung der Scalen It¹H'² zu Grunde gelegt ist, beispielsweise zwei Meter, visirt man die feste Leiste b¹ auf die linke, die bewegliche e¹ auf die rechte Seite des Stammes oder vielmehr von dessen mittlerem Theil ein und liest das Ergebnifs auf der Scala /z² der Kastendecke a¹ ab. Nunmehr bringt man den Apparat in dieselbe Entfernung vom Baum, wie sie bei der Herstellung der Scala h benutzt ist. Beim Ausführungsbeispiel ist dieser Werth auf elf Meter bemessen. Ist dies geschehen, so wird die Leiste b auf den Fufs und die Leiste e auf diejenige Stelle des Baumes ein visirt, bis zu welcher hin der Kubikinhalt bestimmt werden soll. Dabei wird die Scala des Zugbandes i selbstthä'tig eingestellt und man hat nur noch, durch die Oeffnung r in der Decke a² des Kastens sehend, in der neben der Zeigerleiste / befindlichen doppelten Zahlenreihe die Ziffer herauszusuchen, welche unter der dem eben festgestellten Durchmesser entsprechenden sich befindet, um über den Kubikinhalt des betreffenden Baumes unterrichtet zu sein.The apparatus is used in the following manner. Der Zeiger m ist mit einem kreisbogenförmigen Schlitz m¹ ausgerüstet, um das Freigehen desselben vor der Stange/bezw. der Mutter g und den Ohreng·³ zu ermöglichen. Die Leiste e¹ ist mit einem Scharnier t¹ und einer Hülse s' ausgerüstet, welche zu der Stange f¹ in demselben Verhältnifs stehen, wie die Theile s und t zu der Stange/. Die Stange n, welche die Leiste e¹ mit dem Zeiger m verbindet, ist in der Seitenwand α ¹ des Kastens α gelagert.
