Description
Standard procedure to achieve a performance equalization and to prevent the harmful overload of the engine for aircraft engines in internal combustion engines with exhaust gas turbocharging is generally a special one for regulating the boost pressure Regulation of the turbo charger required. This regulation achieves that in every pious steady state in question the power of the turbine is as great as the power of the loader. As the most favorable arrangement in itself is too involved by changing the nozzle cross-section of the turbine, then im general the Turb: ol, core unit so designed that without the intervention of the Regulation of the turbine power in the operating states in question is greater is than the charger power. By interfering with the rules, there is equality to achieve the performance, either the power requirement of the loader increases, z. B. by throttling, or the output of the turbine is reduced.
This alignment of services can also be achieved by: that one part of the compressed air conveyed by the blower the exhaust gases in front of the turbine admixed. The admixture of cold air to the exhaust gases has a great effect favorable from the fact that the exhaust gas temperature is lowered in front of the turbine. This is special in exhaust gas turbines for aircraft engines of the utmost importance, since this is where the turbine blades are concerned are generally so heavily used that after a relatively short time Noticeable stretching occurs over time. By lowering the exhaust gas temperature during .part of the operating time there is therefore a considerable increase in the service life the turbine.
The admixture of the charge air to the exhaust gases influences depending on the Operating conditions the power balance of the turbocharger in different ways. The. Reduced temperature of the exhaust gases in front of the turbine affects in Richttuvg a Reduction of the turbine output per kg of exhaust gas. At the same time, however, increases because of the increased gas weight the pressure in front of the nozzles of the turbine, what means an increase in turbine output per kg of exhaust gas. With large pressure differences in the turbine and at high temperatures: differences between the exhaust gas temperature and The former has a higher influence than the charge air temperature, with a low turbine gradient and low exhaust gas temperatures of the latter. In the case of exhaust gas turbines for gasoline engines, which are only of importance for flight at higher altitudes generally comes the first case in question. An admixture of charge air to the exhaust gases means here i.e. a reduction in turbine output per kg of charge air.
The possibility of regulating the turbocharger by adding Charge air to the exhaust gases is known per se. The control valve should be dependent controlled by the altitude. However, this method does not leave any favorable Expect results because the power balance of the turbocharger unit also goes through has a decisive influence on other variables, such as the boost pressure and, above all, the engine speed will. Would the? Amount of added Charge air is only regulated as a function of the flight altitude, so a second control element would have to z. B. a throttle in the charge air line, provided «-erden, the other influences considered. In this case, only part of the compensation could be due Admixture of fresh gas takes place, so the admixed amount of charge air would in general stay much smaller than taking into account the power balance of the turbocharger unit it is possible.
These disadvantages are avoided by the present invention. the Invention relates to a control method for achieving power equalization and to prevent harmful overloading of the engine for aircraft engines, consisting of an internal combustion engine and an exhaust gas turbocharger with a known adjustable Possibility of mixing air into the exhaust gases. The inventive novelty exists in that the rule of admixture by a density regulator is based on the density the air in the intake line of the internal combustion engine takes place. If the density drops below a certain set value, the throttle element becomes kin of the connecting line z:; ical charge air and exhaust lines adjusted in the direction of greater throttling, If the density increases in the suction line, the throttle element is further geÖi7 net. The regulator keeps the density of the charge air constant.
There. the internal combustion engine power as a first approximation of the density depends on the charge air, the aim of this regulation is achieved, the turbocharger unit to regulate so that the engine power with unchanged GashebeIstellung remains approximately constant. The mechanical and thermal stress is also depends in a first approximation on the charge air density. By such a device becomes a mechanical and thermal one by limiting the density of the charge air Overuse of the internal combustion engine prevented. A reduction in the engine power below the maximum corresponding to the highest allowable density is either in the usual way by throttling in the charge air line or by adjusting of the regulator to the reduced diclit corresponding to the general useless performance, 2 possible.
