Method of Representing Diketones It became the most surprising

An acetic acid solution of rog chromic anhydride is slowly dripped into the solution, which has been heated to about 50 to 60 °, while stirring vigorously. After the reaction has ended, it is strongly concentrated in vacuo, taken up in plenty of water and shaken out several times with up to 300 cc of ether each time. The combined ethereal extracts are shaken out with 2N sodium hydroxide solution and washed with water in order to remove carboxylic acids formed during the oxidation. The ether is then evaporated and water vapor is blown through the residue, whereupon it is taken up again in ether. After drying with sodium sulphate and distilling off the solvent, an oil remains, which after a while separates crystals from the unchanged starting material. From. this is separated; an oil @ is obtained in an amount of 5.5 to 6 g, which contains the cockscomb unit in 500 to 8oo y. This is then dissolved in hot alcohol and mixed with an alcoholic solution of semicarbazide acetate. After concentration and standing at about ice temperature, apart from a semicarbazone of residues of the starting material disemicarbazones of the active compounds separate out, which can be separated from the semicarbazone of the starting material and among themselves by fractional crystallization, whereupon the active substances are separated from their compounds in a known manner Freedom to be set .. For the production of the cinchon .. within the scope of the present invention gin, protection is sought.

To 5 g of sitostenone with a melting point of 82 ° (Archiv d. Pharm. 253 (1915J,
