Piston rod for double-acting piston steam engines The invention
refers to a piston rod for double-acting piston steam machines, chiiien,
especially with cylinders without lubrication, the pistons of which are provided with labyrinths
are.
With machines of this type, especially with stationary, high-speed ones
High pressure machines, the piston rod must be guided precisely, ras with the usual
Guiding of the piston rod, outside of the cylinder on one side in the cross head
and on the other hand m a second special. Leadership is not available,
because here, due to the relatively long piston rod, different heat expansions
occur, -the changes in position between the central axes of the cylinder and the
Effect crosshead guidance. The piston will then skew and touch the cylinder wall.
This can be avoided by providing sufficient clearance between the piston and the cylinder wall,
but has an unfavorable effect on the steam consumption due to the poor labyrinth effect
of the piston. It is with piston steam engines, with those with piston rings
provided piston guides itself in the cylinder, also piston rod guides become known,
where the stuffing box with. can be used for guidance. The guide in the stuffing boxes
but gives rise to leaks as a result of the inevitable
@ One side wear of the sealing material in the stuffing boxes.
These disadvantages are avoided according to the invention in that
the piston rod carrying the piston is hollow, within this vapor space
is guided in the cylinder bottoms and one-on the one hand with the cross head and on the other hand
with: enclosing the rod connected to the hollow piston rod. This makes it possible
to fill the piston rod very close to the piston and to keep the piston rod short.
This also has the advantage that the position of the piston in the cylinder is independent
caused by thermal expansion. Lägever, changes between the central axes
of
Cylinder and the crosshead guide. This also creates a
Separation of the piston guide from the transfer of the coll # forces to the cross head
achieved. The connecting rod between the crosshead and the hollow piston rod takes
the lateral "deviations without affecting the guidance of the piston.
The longer and laterally more flexible this rod is held, the smaller the angle of deviation
result in the lateral shifts. It is advantageous to use the fastening points
of the connection, attached, on the cross head and on the hollow piston rod; articulated
train, expediently as ball joints. Instead of ball joints can also
Connections with rubber. or similar elastic means can be selected.
