Description
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft neue Polyether- Kraftfahrzeug- oder Industrieschmieröle, die mit herkömmlichen Mineralölen kompatibel sind.
- Es ist aus der japanischen Kokai 50/133205 bekannt, daß Polyether mit den allgemeinen Formeln R¹-O-(AO)n-R² und K¹-O- ((AO)m-CH&sub2;-) (AO)mR¹, worin R¹ und R² C&sub1; - C&sub2;&sub4; Hydrocarbyl und/oder Wasserstoff sind, m 1 bis 100 ist, n 1 bis 50 ist und A CpH2p ist, worin p 2 bis 26 ist, als Schmieröle verwendet werden können, wenn sie mit Mineralölen gemischt werden. Bei diesen Formulierungen ist es bevorzugt, daß das Mineralöl die Hauptkomponente ist. Jedoch neigen solche Materialien dazu, sehr große Scherreibungskoeffizienten zu besitzen, was sie für viele Anwendungen ungeeignet macht.
- US 4481123 offenbart ein neues Polyalkyenglycol- Schmiermittel, das besonders zur Verwendung in Kraftübertragungsgetrieben geeignet ist. Solche Schmiermittel sind die Produkte, die durch Polymerisation eines C&sub8; bis C&sub6; Epoxids mit Tetrahydrofuran und einer Hydroxylverbindung mit der Formel H-OR¹, wobei R¹ Wasserstoff, C&sub1; - C&sub2;&sub4; Alkylgruppe oder eine C&sub2; - C&sub4;&sub0; Hydroxyalkylrest bedeutet, erhalten werden. Üblicherweise besitzen die Schmiermittel ein Molekulargewicht im Bereich von 400 bis etwa 1000, eine kinematische Viscosität bei 40ºC von 5 bis 3000 mPa.s und einen Viscositätsindex mit Bereich von 150 bis 220.
- EP-246612 beschreibt auch ein Schmieröl, das auf einer Mischung von Mineralöl und einem Polyether basiert. Während die Beschreibung angibt, daß der Polyether in dem Mineralöl leicht löslich ist, werden Zusammensetzungen, bei denen 5 bis 60 Gew.-% Polyether vorliegen, als vorteilhaft bezeichnet. Der Polyether ist einer mit der allgemeinen Formel R[(CnH2nO)x(CmH2mO)yH]z worin R ein von einem organischen Starter abgeleiteter Rest ist, n 2 bis 4 ist, m 6 bis 40 ist, x und y ganze Zahlen sind, z 1 bis 8 ist und der Gehalt von (CmH2mO)-Gruppen im Polyether 15 bis 60 Gew.% beträgt.
- EP 293715, die im Dezember 1988 veröffentlicht wurde, offenbart Schmiermittel mit monofunktionellen Polyethern mit einem Durchschnittsmolekulargewicht im Bereich von 600 bis 2500. Die Polyether werden dadurch hergestellt, daß eine Mischung von zwei Arten monofunktioneller Startermoleküle, nämlich C&sub8; bis C&sub2;&sub4; Monoalkanole und C&sub4; bis C&sub2;&sub4; Alkyl-substituierte Monophenole alkoxyliert werden. Der Mineralölgehalt des Schmiermittels ist passend im Bereich von 50 bis 95 Gew.%.
- EP 64236 offenbart Polyether, die durch Ethoxylieren eines Startermoleküls und danach Alkoxylieren des Zwischenprodukts mit einem C&sub8; bis C&sub2;&sub4; Olefinoxid hergestellt werden. Das Endprodukt soll dabei verwendbar sein, die interfaciale Oberflächenspannung der öligen Phasen in Bezug auf Wasser zu reduzieren.
- Der oben beschriebene Stand der Technik lehrt allgemein die die Notwendigkeit, Mineralöl/Polyether-Schmiermittel nur dann zu verwenden, wenn das Mineralöl die Hauptkomponente des Schmiermittels darstellt. Es hat sich nun herausgestellt, daß bestimmte ausgewählte Polyether hervorragende Schmiermittel für Anwender im Automobil- und industriellen Bereich entweder ohne Mineralöl oder in Mineralöl/Polyethermischungen darstellen, wo das Mineralöl nur die kleinere Komponente darstellt.
- Gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung wird eine Industrie- oder Automobil-Schmierölzusammensetzung bereitgestellt, die dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß sie im wesentlichen besteht aus:
- (a) von 0 bis weniger als 40 Gew.% einem oder mehrerer Mineralöle, und
- (b) von 100 bis mehr als 60 Gew.% eines Polyethers mit der allgemeinen Formel
- RX(C&sub3;H&sub6;O)n(CyH2yO)pH]m
- worin
- R entweder eine Alkyl- oder Alkylphenylgruppe mit 9 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatomen ist,
- X aus O, S oder N ausgewählt wird,
- y 6 bis 30 ist,
- m 1 oder 2 ist, und
- n und p so sind, daß der Polyether zwischen 1 und 35 Gew.% (CyH&sub2;O)-Einheiten und zwischen 35 und 80 Gew.% von (C&sub3;H&sub6;O)- Einheiten enthält.
- Im Hinblick auf den Rest R ist dieser geeigneterweise eine Alkyl- oder Alkylphenylgruppe mit 9 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatomen. Wenn R eine Alkylgruppe ist, ist es bevorzugt eine C&sub1;&sub0; bis C&sub2;&sub4; Alkylgruppe, die aus einem entsprechenden Fettsäurealkohol, Thiol oder Amin erhalten werden kann. Besonders bevorzugt sind Alkylgruppen mit 12 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen. Für den Fall, daß R Alkylphenyl ist, besitzt R vorzugsweise 9 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatome, wobei Phenylgruppen, die mit ein oder mehreren C&sub6; bis C&sub1;&sub2; Alkylgruppen substituiert sind, besonders bevorzugt sind.
- Zusätzlich zu dem Rest R und der Gruppe X umfaßt der Polyether 1 oder 2 Oxyalkylenstränge unabhängig von der Formel [(C&sub3;H&sub6;O)n(CyH2yO)pH]. Solche Stränge werden durch Alkoxylieren eines Startermoleküls der Formel RX(H)m mit ein oder mehreren Alkylenoxiden der Formel C&sub3;H&sub6;O und CyH2yO hergestellt. Die Alkoxylierung kann in einer Reihe von Stufen durchgeführt werden, wobei jede ein anderes Alkylenoxid verwendet, so daß der gebildete Strang Blöcke von Einheiten eines vorgegebenen Typs enthält. Alternativ kann der Alkoxylierungsprozeß unter Verwendung einer Mischung von Alkylenoxiden durchgeführt werden, wobei in diesem Fall die gebildeten Stränge eine statistische Verteilung der Einheiten enthalten wird. Für den Fall des Alkylenoxids der Formel CyH2yO können ein oder mehrere unterschiedliche Alkylenoxide verwendet werden. Die einzige Bedingung ist, das in dem fertigen Polyether die Gesamtzahl an Einheiten mit der Formel C&sub3;H&sub6;O zwischen 35 und 80 Gew.% umfassen sollte und die Gesamtzahl an Einheiten mit der Formel CyH2yO 1 bis 30 Gew.% umfassen sollte.
- Die (CyH2yO)-Einheiten sind vorzugsweise solche, wobei y im Bereich von 12 - 16 liegt.
- Die oben beschriebenen Polyether haben geeigneterweise ein Molekulargewicht im Bereich von 400 bis 4000, vorzugsweise 500 bis 3000. Sie sind auch dadurch charakterisiert, daß sie eine Viscosität im Bereich von 32 bis 460 mPas bei 40ºC haben.
- Bei Berücksichtigung der obigen Anforderungen ist es besonders bevorzugt, daß der Poylether die oben definierte Formel besitzt, wobei n im Bereich von 5 bis 30 liegt und p im Bereich von 1 bis 4 liegt.
- Das Industrie- und Automobil-Schmieröl der vorliegenden Erfindung besteht im wesentlichen aus dem oben definierten Polyether gegebenenfalls zusammen mit ein oder mehreren Mineralölen einschließlich sowohl napthalinischer als auch paraffinischer Öle und gegebenenfalls Additiven wie Mitteln zur Erniedrigung des Gießpunktes, Detergenzadditiven, verschleißhemmenden Mitteln, Extremdruckadditiven, Antioxidationsmitteln, Antikorrosions- und Antischaummitteln etc. . Gemäß einer Ausführungsform der Erfindung wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines solchen Schmieröls dadurch bereitgestellt, daß man bis zu 40 Gew.% eines oder mehrerer Mineralöle mit 60% oder mehr an Polyether mischt.
- Die Industrie- und Automobil-Schmieröle der vorliegenden Erfindung sind besonders geeignet als Automobilgetriebe- und - Kurbelgehäuseschmiermittel, Zweitaktmotor-Schmiermittel und Industriegetriebeschmiermittel. Die Schmieröle können auch als Übertragungsflüssigkeiten bei Automobilen verwendet werden. In einer weiteren Ausführungsform der vorliegendne Erfindung wird ein Verfahren zum Schmieren der beweglichen Teile einer industriellen Anlage oder von Automobilen bereitgestellt, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß man ein Schmieröl des oben definierten Typs auf die sich bewegenden Teile aufbringt.
- Die folgenden Beispiele veranschaulichen die Erfindung.
- 129 g Dodecylphenol, katalysiert durch Zugabe von 3,4 g Kaliumhydroxid und Vakuumabziehen des Reaktionswassers, wurde in Xylol (280 ml) bei 135ºC und 3,3 atm (50 psi) mit 1096 g einer 88/12 Gew./Gew.-Mischung Propylenoxid und Dodec-1-enoxid auf ein theoretisches Molekulargewicnt von 2500 umgesetzt. Der Katalysator wurde durch Behandlung mit Magnesol (Magnesiumsilicat), Vakuumabziehen und Filtration entfernt, wobei man 1225 g eines öllöslichen Polyalkylenglycols mit der unten angegebenen Zusammensetzung erhielt, und bei dem die folgenden Daten bestimmt wurden.

- 213 g Dodecylphenol, katalysiert durch Zugabe von 5,6 g Kaliumhydroxid und Vacuumabziehen des Reaktionswassers, wurde in Xylol (280 ml) bei 135ºC und 3.3 atm (50 psi) mit 1004 g einer 88/12 Gew./Gew.-Mischung Propylenoxid und Dodec-1-enoxid auf ein theoretisches Molekulargewicht von 1500 umgesetzt. Der Katalysator wurde durch Behandlung mit Magnesol (Magnesiumsilikat), Vacuumabziehen und Filtration entfernt, wobei man 1217 g eines ollöslichen Polyalkylenglycols mit der unten angegebenen Zusammensetzung erhielt, und bei dem die folgenden Daten bestimmt wurden.

Der Katalysator wurde durch Behandlung mit Magnesol (Magnesiumsillcat), Vacuumabziehen und Filtration entfernt, wobei man 291 g (97%) eines öllöslichen Polyalkylenglycols mit der unten angegebenen Zusammensetzung erhielt und bei dem die folgenden Daten bestimmt wurden.

- 86.5 g Dinonylphenol katalysiert durch Zugabe von 1.5 g Kaliumhydroxid und Vacuumabziehen des Reaktionswassers, wurde bei 130ºC und 3.3 atm (50 psi) mit 130.5 g Propylenoxid und danach mit 55 g Dodec-1-enoxid auf ein theoretisches Molekulargewicht von 1089 umgesetzt. Der Katalysator wurde durch Behandlung mit Magnesol (Magnesiumsilicat), Vacuumabziehen und Filtration entfernt, wobei man ein öllösliches Polyalkylenglycols mit der unten angegebenen Zusammensetzung erhielt und bei dem die folgenden Daten bestimmt wurden.

Der Katalysator wurde durch Behandlung mit Magnesol (Magnesiumsilicat), Vacuumabziehen und Filtration entfernt, wobei man 572 g (96%) eines öllöslichen Polyalkylenglycols mit der unten angegebenen Zusammensetzung erhielt und bei dem die folgenden Daten bestimmt wurden.

Der Katalysator wurde durch Behandlung mit Magnesol (Magnesiumsilicat), Vacuumabziehen und Filtration entfernt, wobei man 360 g (96%) eines öllöslichen Polyalkylenglycols mit der unten angegebenen Zusammensetzung erhielt und bei dem die folgenden Daten bestimmt wurden.

- 160 g Softanol AP30 (3 Mol Propoxylat eines linearen sekundären C-12/14 Alkohols, hergestellt von Nippon Shokubai Kagaku Kaogyo Co. Ltd.), katalysiert durch Zugabe von 3 g Kaliumhydroxid und azeotropischer Entfernung des Reaktionswassers in 1000 g Toluol, wurde in Toluol bei 135ºC und 3.3 atm (50 psi) mit 710 g einer 60/40 Gew./Gew.-Mischung Propylenoxid und Hexadec-1-enoxid auf ein theoretisches Molekulargewicht von 2100 umgesetzt. Der Katalysator und das Lösungsmittel wurde durch Behandlung mit Magnesol (Magnesiumsilicat), Filtration und Vacuumabziehen entfernt, wobei man 846 g (97%) eines öllöslichen Polyalkylenglycols mit der unten angegebenen Zusammensetzung erhielt, bei dem die folgenden Daten bestimmt wurden.

- 109 g Lincol 12/14 (ein linearer primärer C-12/14 Alkohol, hergestellt von der Condea Chemie GmbH), katalysiert durch Zugabe von 3,7 g Kaliumhydroxid und azeotropischer Entfernung des Reaktionswassers in 1.000 g Toluol, wurde in dem Toluol bei 130ºC und 3.3 atm (50 psi) mit 980 g einer 60/40 Gew./Gew.- Mischung Propylenoxid und Hexadec-1-enoxid auf ein theoretisches Molekulargewicht von 2000 umgesetzt. Der Katalysator und das Lösungsmittel wurden durch Behandlung mit Magnesol, Filtration und Vacuumabziehen entfernt, wobei man 1060 g (97%) eines öllöslichen Polyalkylenglycols mit der unten angegebenen Zusammensetzung erhielt, bei dem die folgendn Daten bestimmt wurden.

- 433 g Dinonylphenol, katalysiert durch Zugabe von 8,5 g Kaliumhydroxid und azeotropischer Entfernung des Reaktionswassers in 800 g Toluol, wurde in Toluol bei 130ºC und 3.3 atm (50 psi) mit 2065 g einer 75/25 Gew./Gew.-Mischung Propylenoxid und Dodec-1-enoxid auf ein theoetisches Molekulargewicht von 2000 umgesetzt. Der Katalysator und das Lösungsmittel wurden durch Behandlung mit Magnesol (Magnesiumsilicat), Filtration und Vacuumabziehen entfernt, wobei man 2450 g (98%) eines öllöslichen Polyalkylenglycols mit der unten angegebenen Zusammensetzung erhielt, bei dem die folgenden Daten bestimmt wurden.

- 300 g eines Industrieschmiermittels wurden dadurch hergestellt, daß man 290 g des öllöslichen Polyalkylenglycols aus Beispiel 14 mit 3 g eines phenolischen Antioxidationsmittels, 5.5 g einer Mischung aus einem aminischen Antioxidation- und Antiverschleißmittel, und 1,5 g eines Antikorrosionsmittels auf Sarcosinbasis mischte. Die folgenden Daten wurden für die Mischung bestimmt.

- Ein Polypropoxylat von Butanol mit einem Molekulargewicht von 1740 (im Handel erhältlich als Breox B125) ist nicht öllöslich mit den folgenden Daten:

- (50% Breox B125, 50% Öl, 25ºC) Mischung vollständig opaque, trennte sich vollständig in 2 Schichten nach Stehen für eine Stunde.
Claims (8)
1. Eine Industrie- oder Automobilschmierölzusammensetzung,
gekennzeichnet dadurch, daß sie im wesentlichen besteht aus:
(a) von 0 bis weniger als 40 Gew.% eines oder mehrerer
Mineralöle, und
(b) von 100 bis mehr als 60 Gew.% eines Polyethers mit der
allgemeinen Formel
RX(C&sub3;H&sub6;O) n (CyH2yO) pH] m
worin
R entweder eine Alkyl- oder Alkylphenylgruppe mit 9 bis 30
Kohlenstoffatomen ist,
X aus O, S oder N ausgewählt wird,
y 6 bis 30 ist,
m 1 oder 2 ist, und
n und p so sind, daß der Polyether zwischen 1 und 35 Gew.%
(CyH&sub2;O)-Einheiten und zwischen 35 und 80 Gew.% (C&sub3;H&sub6;O)-Einheiten
enthält.
2. Ein Industrie- oder Automobilschmieröl wie in Anspruch 1
beansprucht, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Polyether zwischen
9 und 25 Gew.% (CyH2yO)-Einheiten und zwischen 50 und 80 Gew.%
(C&sub3;H&sub6;O)-Einheiten enthält.
3. Ein Industrie - oder Automobilschmieröl wie in einem der
vorhergehenden Ansprüche beansprucht, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß y 12 bis 16 ist.
4. Ein Industrie- oder Automobilschmieröl wie in einem der
vorhergehenden Ansprüche beansprucht, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß R entweder unter Alkylgruppen mit 12 bis 18
Kohlenstoffatomen oder Alkylphenylgruppen mit 9 bis 24
Kohlenstoffatomen ausgewählt wird.
5. Ein Industrie- oder Automobilschmieröl wie in einem der
vorhergehenden Ansprüche beansprucht, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das Molekulargewicht des Polyethers im Bereich von 400 bis
4000 liegt, und die Viscosität des Polyethers im Bereich von
32-460 mPa.s. bei 40ºC liegt.
6. Ein Industrie- oder Automobilschmieröl wie in einem der
vorhergehenden Ansprüche beansprucht, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß in dem Polyether R eine Alkyl- oder Alkylphenylgruppe mit
von 10 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, n 5 bis 30 ist und p 1 bis
4 ist.
7. Ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Industrie- oder
Automobilschmieröls wie in Anspruch 1 definiert, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß man weniger als 40 Gew.% eines oder mehrerer
Mineralöle mit mehr als 60% eines wie in Anspruch 1 definierten
Polyethers mischt.
8. Ein Verfahren zum Schmieren der sich bewegenden Teile
einer industriellen Anlage oder von Automobilen, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß man ein wie in Anspruch definiertes
Industrie- oder Automobilschmieröl auf die sich bewegenden Teile
aufbringt.
