Description

Process for the blue-black development of photographic silver emulsions The usual methods of blue-black development, e.g. B. the addition of imidazoles, Thiazoles and similar substances have the to a greater or lesser extent Disadvantage that the substances used desensitize or when stored for a long time of the developer's effectiveness.

It has now surprisingly been found that a new body that is referred to as formolcystine and that according to the procedure given in Example i produced, developed blue-black and kept clear without desensitizing. The new substance also has the advantage that it is different from the type of substance used Emulsion is independent to a much greater extent than the previously known substances. The influence on the color tone can not only be seen in the case of pure chlorine silver emulsions, but is also used in the case of emulsions with a high concentration of bromide silver and pure bromide silver emulsions just as clearly. This is a very important step forward, because the older substances gave either chlorosilver or bromosilver emulsions a blue-black effect; but the results for strong were particularly uncertain mixed emulsions containing bromide silver. Here the formolcystin fills a large one Gap from.

There are processes known, according to which protein degradation products for the purpose of increasing the sensitivity of photographic silver salt emulsions can be added (see patent 464,450 and patent 468,6o4). Such products will be inter alia: also obtained by boiling cystine with sodium hydroxide solution. On the hue of the However, the substances thus obtained have no influence on the silver image, even if they are added to the developer instead of the emulsion. Only when it has been pretreated that way Cystine is reacted with formaldehyde according to the instructions given below a change in color due to the presence of - the formed formolcystine the development can be observed. , It should also be mentioned that formolcystine is Addition to pronounced brown developers has proven to be very valuable. Allows to arrive at brown images with much greater certainty through direct development, than was previously possible.

Since the formolcystin only takes effect in the developer, it does not matter in what way it is brought into solution. The substance can therefore be used directly Developer can be added or it will be in any layer of the photographic material (Protective layer, substrate, back casting) brought.

Then 1/2 cc of formaldehyde solution (about 3o%) is added and about. Cooked for 5 minutes. Finally, it is made up to 100 cm with water. From this solution 'become Blue-black development of Cblqr or bromide silver emulsions from 10 to 20 ccn% "per i 1 ready-to-use developer given: Examples For a common brown developer (e.g. regulation in J.
