Abstract
Description
The invention relates to photovoltaic cells with two a pho tovoltaic material combination between enclosing Panes of glass, the electrically conductive Be facing each other have layers at least on one edge of the glass disc with an exposed contact, especially in shape a rail running along the edge, are connected, in particular also run in the coating mentioned the conductor tracks according to patent application P 42 14 419.1.
The invention has for its object a suitable arrangement to create the connection of such cells in series.
According to the invention, this purpose is achieved in such a way that the cells are set up in plurality on the same glass panes and are separated from each other by sealing strips.
The invention includes the knowledge that the primary is not necessary separation of the cells in which only a few by height Send space between the glass panes the result significantly improved.
The glass panes preferably face one another on the sealing strips facing grooves and the sealant extends in the Cross section from one groove to the other.
This allows the sealing compound to be placed precisely over a narrow width and achieve a tight bond with the glass panes. At the same time, the manufacturing simplification can be linked to who that the electrically conductive coating and possibly the Lei first run continuously on the entire surface of the glass disc can be applied and then on the grooves below be broken.
As a rule, the cells, which are preferably square, in arrange two rows, the outer sides of the rows for the mentioned contacts are available.
However, the invention achieves its particular advantage in the Training that one of the two panes of glass at its edge each cell partially over the edge of the other sheet of glass stands and has its contact here and partly from the edge jumps back and here the other pane of glass makes contact points.
This is how the other glass pane mentioned is created can have a normal, rectangular cross section, are exposed de contact surfaces, and it can very easily be one Kon clocks one cell with the other contact of the next cell be bound, e.g. B. by one soldered to both contacts Ladder bridge or a bridge designed as a bracket.
At the corners of the glass panes, the protruding part can be placed on a Side of the corner and the recessed part on the other side te the corner.
This training comes in particular for one out of four cells unit in question.
Finally, as an advantageous embodiment of the cells suggest that the coatings all around at their edge, with have connected busbars to the contacts.
This measure is particularly advantageous if the Conductor tracks.
Die Zeichnungen geben Ausführungsbeispiele der Erfindung wieder. The drawings show exemplary embodiments of the invention.

Der Aufbau der Einheit läßt sich am besten aus Fig. 2 erkennen:The structure of the unit can best be seen from Fig. 2:
Two glass panes 1 and 2 are each provided with a coating 3 made of tin dioxide or indium tin oxide, which with z. B. 0.2 to 0.5 microns thickness is translucent. Under the coating 3 , conductor tracks 4 are worked into the glass panes 1 and 2 in contact with the coating 3 . They are, like the coating 3 itself, connected to a frame-like peripheral laminated conductor 5 each at the edge of a cell.
In the z. B. about 20 to 25 microns high space between the glass panes 1 and 2 , more precisely the coatings 3 , a photovoltaic material combination is arranged. It consists of a colloidal titanium dioxide layer applied to the one coating by the sol-gel method, which is characterized by a high roughness factor and thus serves as a light trap, and also a monomolecular layer of a suitable transition metal complex placed on the rough surface of the titanium dioxide layer, which acts as a sensitizer in such a way that, after excitation by visible light, it injects electrons into the conduction band of the titanium dioxide, and finally from an electrolyte which fills the remaining space and which contains a redox system, e.g. B. iodine-iodide. The electrons gelan gene from the titanium dioxide layer on the adjacent current-conducting coating 3 , the conductor tracks 4 and the busbar 5 to a contact and from this into an external circuit, where they do work, and back via another contact in the busbar 5 , the Conductor tracks 4 and the coating 3 of the other disk, and the electrolyte transports the electrons further and back to the monomolecular layer of the sensitizer.
Diese Art photovoltaischer Zellen ist grundsätzlich bekannt aus der Zeitschrift "Schweitzer Ingenieur und Architekt" Nr. 13, März 1991, Seiten 292 bis 295 sowie aus der US-A-4,927,721 und der WO-91/16719.This type of photovoltaic cell is basically known from the magazine "Schweitzer Ingenieur und Architekt" No. 13, March 1991, pages 292 to 295 and from US-A-4,927,721 and WO-91/16719.
Die Leiterbahnen 4 sind Inhalt der älteren Anmeldung P 42 14 419.1.The conductor tracks 4 are the content of the older application P 42 14 419.1.
The cells labeled with 8 to 15 are in the interspace of the glass sheets 1 and 2 spatially separated from each other by the sealing strip 16, for example. B. made of silicone mass. At the outer edges of the glass panes 1 and 2 , a sealing strip 17 runs around.
Grooves 18 are formed on the sealing strips 16 in the glass panes 1 and 2 , into which the mass extends.
FIGS. 3 and 4, are provided in which substantially equal portions with the same reference numerals as in FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 different from Fig. And 2 by a denser laying of the conductor tracks 4, but without circumferential busbar 5 and instead only with one arranged on the edge of the glass Sam mel and contact rail 19 and 20 , the latter only half the length of the former and is still provided with an inwardly angled branch 21 (only drawn once). Instead of the branch 21 , the projecting section 23 and on this the busbar and contact rail 20 could be extended at the expense of the springback section 24 , such that the busbar and contact rail 20 detects and covers most of the edge of the coating 3 in the illustrated case with the additional conductor tracks 4 , all conductor tracks 4 tapering to the relevant edge.
An den rückspringenden Abschnitten 24 liegt jeweils die Sammel- und Kontaktschiene 19 der anderen Glasscheibe 2 frei, im Falle der Fig. 1 der Sammelleiter 5.As can be seen in FIG. 3, the two longitudinal edges of the glass pane 1 jump back and forth over the longitudinal edges of the glass pane 2 on each cell. The busbar and contact rail 20 are respectively arranged on the projecting sections 23 . At the recessed sections 24 , the busbar and contact rail 19 of the other glass pane 2 are exposed, in the case of FIG. 1 the busbar 5 .
Through line bridges 25 , which are soldered to the busbar and contact rail 19 or the busbar 5 of one cell and the busbar and busbar 20 of the next cell (only two drawn in FIG. 1), the eight cells 8th up to 15 connected in series.
