Description
Letters, Vol. 16, No. 9, May 1991 bzw. aus "Recent developments in laser resonators design", Optical and Quantum Electronics, Vol. 23, Nr. 9, Nov. 91, pp 1105-1134 bekannt. Laser mirror with radial gradient or method for producing a laser mirror with radial reflection gradient according to the preamble of Claim 1 are for example from the print font "Q-Switched Nd: YAG-laser with super-Gaussian resonators", opt. Letters, Vol. 16, No. 9, May 1991 or from "Recent developments in laser resonators design ", Optical and Quantum Electronics, Vol. 23, No. 9, Nov. 91, pp 1105-1134. Through the US magazine "Appl. Opt.", 22, No. 3, (1983), pages 441-442 is the use of materials with known a radial gradient of the refractive index for optical purposes and from the same journal on pages 432-440 are details of To see generation of refractive index gradients. The application on the one hand, such a mirror lies in the reduction of diffraction losses on laser mirrors, especially on miniaturized mirrors in the Cases in which the laser resonator mode only in diameter is insignificantly smaller than the laser mirror diameter, and for others in the reduction of higher order modes in transverse pumped laser systems.
Such laser mirrors are according to the prior art in complex Be vaporization process so that the layer thickness of the dielectri layer packets can be varied radially. From the resulting wel length shift of the reflection maxima of the layer packets results then a radial gradient in the reflectance at a defined La wavelength. These vaporization processes are known to be very, however elaborate and lengthy because the targeted growth of layers with predetermined radial thickness variance is difficult to control.
The present invention has for its object a method for To produce a laser mirror of the type mentioned at the outset, that is significantly simplified, qualitatively and economically optimized and generates laser mirrors that are used as "super-gaussian-mirror" can.
Es zei genThis object is achieved by the measures specified in claim 1. Refinements and developments are given in the subclaims ben and in the description below are exemplary embodiments purifies. The figures in the drawing supplement these explanations. It shows gene

Fig. 3 ein Schemabild eines Schichtpaketes auf einem Substrat mit ra dialem Brechungsindexgradienten Fig. 3 is a schematic image of a layer package on a substrate with ra dialem refractive index gradient
The invention provides that a uniform di electrical layer package is applied to a substrate, which egg has a radial refractive index gradient. Now choose that Layer package, for example, so that the layer material with the higher Refractive index is arranged on the side facing the substrate, so there is a reflection ver proportional to the refractive index curve run.
The production of glasses with a precisely defined refractive index gradient has largely been developed in the prior art and is well mastered. Such glasses are known and available in the form of rod-shaped micro optics under the name "gradient index lenses (GRIN)". Investigations by the applicant have now shown that such GRIN glass rods are well suited as substrates for miniaturized mirrors with radial reflection gradients with mirror diameters of approximately 1 to 3 mm, but can also be used for the production of large-format substrates. The refractive index typically varies from the center to the edge of the substrate with a parabolic shape, as can be seen from FIG. 1.
For the production of laser mirrors with radial reflection gradients, one selects the dielectric layer package in such a way that the high-index layer material comes to lie next to the substrate, which results in a reflection course on a substrate with a radial refractive index gradient, as can be seen from FIG. 2. According to FIG. 3, the layer package is composed as follows:
On a substrate 10 with a radial refractive index gradient, alternating high- ( 20 ) and low-refractive ( 30 ) dielectrics are brought up in such a way that reflection is achieved at a desired wavelength (λ / 4 layers) and that, for example, the high-index medium is next to the substrate comes to rest.
B. in E.W.Marchand, "Gra dient Index Optics", Academic Press New York, 1978. The manufacture of substrates with radial refractive index gradients is described in detail in the literature, e.g. B. in E.M.Marchand, "Gra serves Index Optics, "Academic Press New York, 1978. As the starting material Mostly glasses or plastics are used, with a bre index gradient in the case of glasses mostly due to diffusion ions exchange (salt etching bath) is carried out. Also ion implantation ver driving and neutron radiation are known as manufacturing processes become.
By decreasing the reflectivity towards the edge of the mirror both diffraction symptoms at the mirror edges are alleviated, as well the emergence of higher laser modes in, for example, transversely pumped ten laser systems prevented that not collinear with the opti (higher) modes running along the axis are compared to the basic mode (TEMOO) have higher resonator loss.
Using mirror substrates with a radial refractive index With conventional vapor deposition, the dex gradient is thus dielectric, ho radial layers very easily and economically xions gradient generated.
