Description
In the patent 396117 is a process for desulfurization of gases with sulfur production described, with ziln next by adsorption on porous bodies, e.g. B. active coal, and their regeneration a hydrogen sulfide-rich Gas mixture is obtained, from which one is melted directly by catalytic oxidation Receives sulfur.
It has now been found that in some cases the first stage this process, namely the production of a hydrogen sulphide-rich gas mixture from gases with low hydrogen sulfide content also in other ways, namely In particular, it can be carried out advantageously in such a way that the gas is increased under increased pressure Pressure washes with water and then the water is relaxed to such an extent that one becomes a gas genius of sufficiently high hydrogen sulfide content to enable the second stage of the process, the catalytic oxidation of hydrogen sulfide with direct production of molten sulfur, as described in the main patent to be able to perform. The amount of pressure to be applied and the type of relaxation, including one more or less high vacuum can be used, depends on the composition, especially according to the hydrogen sulfide content of the gas. This cleaning process can be carried out with constant renewal of the water, which is then advantageous in such an amount that just the complete purification of the gas is achieved by hydrogen sulfide.
However, a small part of the hydrogen sulfide goes along with it lost to the draining water. It can therefore be more appropriate, always the same To use water in a certain amount in the circuit.
Small residues of hydrogen sulfide remaining in the gas can then if desired in another way, e.g. B. by means of active charcoal can be removed.
Example: A gas with around 1 percent hydrogen sulfide and around 10 percent carbonic acid is at 25 atm. compressed and countercurrent by a Trickle tower passed into the cold water from above in one or more stages up to about 1/10 atm. relaxed and here a gas mixture with about 20 percent. Hydrogen sulfide and get about 70 percent carbonic acid. This gas mixture is then appropriate diluted with about the same amount of unpurified gas and the so produced about Where percent gas mixture containing hydrogen sulfide, e.g. B. according to the Claus process, further processed on sulfur. The exhaust gas from the contact furnace can also be used for dilution be used.
-, PATENT CLAIM: Further development of the process of patent 396117 for the desulfurization of gases with sulfur production, characterized in that the hydrogen sulfide (instead of by adsorption on porous bodies) is recovered in another way, in particular by absorption in water under pressure @@@@ Form withdraws. -,
