Abstract

The cable between a current carrying rail and a machine to be tested has a special adaptor bush at each end engaged by locking elements incorporated in fittings connected to the rail and machine respectively. The fitting (10) at the supply rail end has locking elements which secure the bush (4A) when a contact ring (10A) on the fitting is inserted in it. This is operated by a clamping lever (10C). The fitting at the machine end has a contact pin which is inserted into the bush at the other end of the cable. The pin has a hinged connection with an operating part of the fitting. The pin has a groove round it for a system of locking balls retained by an intermediate sleeve and operated by a rotary sleeve.
