Abb. Ι shows a view of a known embodiment of the claw. Fig. 2 is a view of the new jaw. Figs. 3 and 4 show a second embodiment in different positions. Fig. 5 shows a view, partly in section, of a third embodiment. Fig. 6 shows the whole harpoon being fired. The known claw 1 is hinged at 2 on the harpoon; the fixed prong 3 is beveled at its end part at 4. The direction of attack of the projectile is indicated by arrow 5. The claw is held in its position against the projectile body in the usual manner by elastic straps and the like, which are stripped off when the projectile penetrates the body of the whale, so that the claw is released and can swing out. However, it happens very often that the claw does not swing out at the right moment, so that the prey is released. This is due to the fact that the inclined surface 4 forms a relatively small angle with the projectile axis, so that this surface does not offer sufficient resistance when the harpoon moves backwards. The purpose of the present invention is to increase the swing capacity of the claws by -3 °. Accordingly, the prong 3 is articulated with the claw, so that the Zakken 3 can swing out independently with respect to the claw body. According to Fig. 3, the articulated connection of the prong with the claw is made by the pivot 6. The position of the prong 3 in relation to the claw 1, shown in full lines, is that before the penetration of the harpoon or the claw into the body of the whale; while the surface 4 'of the prong is approximately in line or in the same plane as the surface 1' of the claw ι. The swinging out of the prong inwards out of this position is prevented by the stop pin 7. As can be seen, the prong 3 can with respect to the claw 1 a certain swinging movement between the two approaches! Carry out impact pins 7 and 8. The outermost position of the prong 3 in relation to the claw 1 during the outward movement is indicated in dashed lines. It can be seen that in this outermost position the surface 4 of the prong 3 is approximately at right angles! to the projectile axis is, while the claw ι more or less' maintains its direction. According to Figs. 3 and 4, the prong 3 is provided at its free end with at least two flat surfaces, one of which, labeled 9, serves to keep the prong in a normal position with respect to the claw, as shown in Fig. 3 is shown. The surfaces 9 or 10 lie against a surface n in the slot of the claw end, depending on the position of the prong 3. Fig. 4 shows the second end position of the prong when the spreading effect is to occur. The mode of action of the harpoon or claw described is as follows: When the projectile penetrates the body of the whale, the straps are stripped off, and the rebound of the projectile causes the prongs to swing outwards, with the pin 6 serving as a swing axis. This brings the beveled surface 4 into a position which is shown in Fig. 2 in dashed lines and in Fig. 4 in full lines, this surface 4 being approximately perpendicular to the direction of attack of the projectile and providing substantial resistance to backward movement of the claw 1 forms, whereupon the claw 1 also swings out about its pin 2. The prong 3 or the claw 1 can be under the action of springs 12, which initiate or support the swinging out. In Fig. 2 and 5 such springs are indicated. go patent claims:
