Verfahren zum Stabilisieren von Nitrozellulose, Zusatz zum Patent
305512.
Method for stabilizing nitrocellulose, addendum to patent 305512. The invention relates to a further development of the method according to patent 3o5512 in a specific application. According to this patent, the electroosmotic process is used to displace liquids from substances by other liquids. When displacing the water from nitrocellulose, the procedure is such that the nitrocellulose, previously stabilized by boiling, is subjected to the action of the electric current using alcohol as the displacement liquid.
It has now been found that in the displacement according to the patent 305512
at the same time a detachment and removal of unstable products is achieved,
if one immediately sees the unstable nitrocelluloses of electroosmotic repression
subject according to this patent and this treatment continues until the
Nitrocellulose has become sufficiently stable. This treatment is generally used
of course, they last longer than an ordinary electroosmotic displacement
but in any case requires a much shorter time than the previously usual
Stabilization process. That in the displacement by means of alcohol, z. B. at the
So-called pot displacement process, with the alcohol also unstable degradation products
come off in solution is known. The simultaneous repression and stabilization
of an unstable product in the manner of the invention, however, is with the usual displacement processes
not practically feasible. The tendency that occurs with decreasing water content
the cellulose preparations for colloidalization can be used in the pot displacement method
lead to a further displacement from a certain degree of dewatering
liquid very difficult, if not impossible, even when high pressure is applied
will. For this reason it is technically hardly feasible with the pot displacement method
and similar modes of displacement stabilize at the same time as drainage
by extending the displacement period accordingly. The electro-osmotic
The method according to the main patent is free from the drawbacks of the older mechanical displacement methods
and therefore enables the connection of displacement and stabilization of the unstable
Products according to the invention.
gleich in fertig verdrängter Form vorliegt. The considerable acceleration of the stabilization process in the
new method results from the fact that z. B. to stabilize a nitrocellulose
in the usual way through the cooking process a period of about q.o hours
is needed, while the same good is needed in electroosmotic treatment
becomes stable after about 6 hours, with displacement also taking place at the same time,
those in the earlier proceedings
still specially made
must become. Another benefit is the removal of unstable components
essential,. . more thorough and much more extensive. Of considerable practicality
It is of course also important that the whole process of stabilization and
Drainage is significantly simplified and the material after the end of the stabilization process
is present in a completely displaced form.
It has proven to be expedient to use the stabilizing displacement
starting with weaker alcohol and only getting too technical towards the end of the process
concentrated alcohol of about 95 percent by weight. So you can too
reuse some of the alcohol that was used in an earlier displacement
had been used before.
