man
Process for impregnating beech wood. The present invention
refers to a new method of impregnating wood. She aims one
Improvement of those processes in which the wood before it with the impregnation liquid
is associated, is exposed to air or gas pressure, which is hot
the subsequent treatment with the impregnation liquid and
is increased even further, so that the cells, pores and cavities during the
Impregnation work are constantly interspersed with strongly tensioned gases, which after
Completed impregnation as a result of the release of the pressure and possible application
a vacuum, partially push the impregnation liquid out again. Meant
are here in particular the processes of patents 138933 and 212911. As
the gas causing the pushing out has hitherto been used exclusively air; in particular
the use of steam for this purpose was considered to be ruled out as the
The tension of the water vapor depends on its temperature, and
man
the material to be impregnated, mostly wood, must not be heated above i2o °, so you
a vapor tension of 1 atm. Overpressure, if possible, must not exceed.
oberhalb i Atm.
The present = invention, however, is the use .- @ won steam
This is possible because it combines its action with the action of air in the
Way that you let the steam act as soon as the process is below or just a little
above i Atm. Overpressure is carried out, and the air then takes aid when
the pressure is much higher than i Atm. amounts to. In this way one achieves that
the air is constantly heated and humidified, so the cell walls are so humidified
and are heated so that a good migration of the impregnating agent
oil is reached through the cells and pores. This wandering through of the oil
the cells and pores have to take place twice in each impregnation process, because
once the impregnation material has to be pressed into the cells and the other
Sometimes it has to be squeezed out by the amount of air present in the cell.
Man behandelt
When you create a mixture of steam and air and use this as a means
would use to, after it is pressed into the wood, the subsequently pressed
Pushing impregnation material out of the same would not only result in the steam-air mixture
at the right pressure and temperature have to keep what is difficult to do
would be, but one would also have to keep the wood itself at a temperature at which
the penetration of air and steam into the cells proceeds evenly, otherwise
the vapor would only condense in the outer cells and only air into them
internal cells would invade. This difficulty becomes apparent in accordance with the present invention
avoided by the specific sequence of treatment of the wood
with steam and air, before the actual impregnation begins. Man treated
namely the wood initially only with steam and then only with air, which is higher
is pressed than the steam used.
The invention thus essentially consists in the fact that one the wood
subjected to treatment with steam after prior evacuation, then
it fills in a known manner with compressed air, impregnated with impregnation liquid
and evacuated. This ensures that the pushing-out effect of the
Compressed air supports and at the same time a better penetration and distribution of the
Impregnation liquid reached.
Praktisch verfährt man daher in folgender Weise: Man behandelt zunächst
In practice, therefore, one proceeds in the following way: One treats first
the wood possibly after previous evacuation in the known manner with steam, expedient
not about i atm. While the wood is still under the action of steam pressure
is located, is pressed into the same air, without the interposition of a.
Vacuum, because otherwise the steam will be withdrawn from the wood and again from the wood
would cool too much, so that the intended effect of the steam is lost again
would. The air that now penetrates the cells of the wood is absorbed by the in
the impregnation cylinder and the wood cells already present and during the pressure increase
condensing steam moistened and heated; on the other hand, the air distributes it
hot condensation water evenly in the cells, so that this water is evenly everywhere
can have a revealing effect, which experience has shown that the wood cracks
prevented. Then, in the known manner, without venting any air,
the oil or other impregnating agent while increasing the pressure further
pressed in. After the wood has absorbed enough oil or impregnation agent,
the latter is released and the pressure is brought to atmospheric tension, in such a way,
that the air in the wood removes the impregnating agent from the cells in a known manner
Way squeezes out. The wood is then exposed to a vacuum, which causes the
condensation water in the wood cells is brought back to evaporation,
at the same time, further impregnation compounds are also withdrawn from the wood in a known manner
will.
