Description
The present invention relates to a bending element made of piezoceramic and on its manufacturing process like it is described in the preamble of claim 1 or claim 4.
It has been known for a long time, bimorph bending elements made of piezo manufacture and use ceramics. Such bending elements be are made up of a variety of thin, superimposed, with slats made of piezoceramic that are firmly connected. To a such a bending element with the lowest possible electrical span To be able to operate such elements with lamella len produced, which are only 100 microns thick. Even with the However, thin slats are required for usable mecha electrical deflection of 100 voltages Volt. Incidentally, with 200 volts, the would in individual cases Ceramic field dependent limit field strength of approx. 2 kV / mm er be enough. The only other way to enlarge the Up to now, deflection was the one available for the bend To increase the length of the slats, which is naturally too many leads to undesirably large dimensions of the bending elements.
From the generic US patent 33 78 704 is a piezoelectric Bending element known in which alternating layers of piezo ceramic and electrode layers are arranged one on top of the other. This bending element is formed by sintering a stack, in the alternating layers of raw ceramic material and Material for the electrode layers is arranged one on top of the other. Since the electrode layers ge with the raw ceramic layers must be sinter-resistant for the electrodes Material, e.g. B. platinum can be used. Because of the high Platinum price is this bending element for economic applications unsuitable.
The invention is based, another piezo Ceramic bending element and a method for its production specify for which only low voltage voltage for operation he is required and yet only a short length of the bending element is required, which is also inexpensive to manufacture.
This object is achieved with the in claim 1 or the corresponding method claim specified features. Further Refinements and developments of the invention are based the subclaims.
The invention is based on the idea of decades telang practiced structure of the bending element from a Stack of superimposed slats, a so-called Bi morph to leave. The bending element of the present invention manure is to be regarded as a monolithic body, because the image tion process for the production of the ceramic character integral for the whole bending element. In the invention who the layered raw ceramic material and material for Ab Stand layers or electrode layers arranged one on top of the other net; only then is the sintering carried out. The raw ceramic material is the output that may have already been converted material of ceramics with liquid and possibly Binder is processed into a slip. Output material, production of the slip and, if necessary sales already carried out correspond to more commonly known ones Manufacture of piezoceramics. For example, the output material barium carbonate and titanium dioxide or lead oxide, zir conoxide and titanium oxide. In the case of the one already carried out Turnover (prefired) is already from these raw materials Barium titanate or lead zirconate titanate, which then is ground again.
The result is made from raw ceramics by a screen printing process layers and spacer layers in generated in a particularly advantageous manner. One starts from a carrier film as a substrate, this carrier film a ceramic raw film advantageously from the same Ceramic mass is that for the individual to be printed Layers is used. This carrier film is a passi ver part of the bending element. The applied ceramics layers with electrodes in between form there against the active part of the bending drive. More advantageous The material of this carrier film is also wise - as well like the piezoelectrically active foils of the element - elec trically polarized (but not electrically on during operation excited). This ensures that the thermal Expansion of this carrier film on the one hand and the package, consisting of the active foils, on the other hand the same size and is compensated.
Further explanations of the invention will be made for simplicity for the sake of an example of a manufacturing process of a Bending element of the invention, based on the Figures, given.
Fig. 1 zeigt einen schematischen Aufbau. Fig. 1 shows a schematic structure.
Fig. 2, 3 und 5 zeigen Formgebungen für die Elektroden und Fig. 2, 3 and 5 show shapes for the electrodes and
Fig. 4 zeigt ein fertiges Biegeelement. Fig. 4 shows a finished bending element.
Fig. 1 shows a cross section through a with respect to its length L with respect to its width B and Comprehensive under brochenes piece of a bending element 1 according to the invention. With 2 the carrier film already indicated above is referred to net. With 3 ceramic layers are designated, which form the active ceramic foils in the finished bending element. 4 are the electrodes or spacer layers mentioned above, which are to be discussed in more detail in particular. With 5 respective ceramic edge strips are referred to layers, which must be provided expediently, but not necessarily. As can be seen, with the already very thin electrode layers 4 or with a thickness of the spacer layers 4 which is very much smaller than the thickness of the foils 3, these edge strips 5 can also be omitted, so that in this case the edge region, which is comparatively narrow to width B, is individual Slides 3 lie directly on top of each other. In this case, the (printed) layer from which the respective film 3 is formed will be somewhat thicker in this edge region during production by means of a coating process, so that the bending element 1 overall again has an approximately uniform thickness D. becomes.
As already mentioned, the screen printing method is particularly suitable for producing a bending element 1 according to the invention. For example, on a carrier film 2 that is already present, a first spacer layer 4 is first printed, for which, for. B. a thickness of 2 microns to 10 microns is to be provided. For a spacer layer 4 , graphite with spacer bodies made of, for example, aluminum oxide, magnesium oxide or zirconium dioxide is particularly suitable as the material. During the subsequent sintering, the graphite burns out and the oxide grains which are resistant to the sintering process no longer fill completely, but still support the original space.
At the same time or subsequently is - if provided - he (. With 2 to Fig described form 5.1 or 5.2) microns, the spacer layer 4 is printed around the edge of layer 5 imagined. This edge layer 5 preferably consists of the same material or slip from which the layers to be printed for the films 3 are made.
The first film layer 3 made of raw ceramic is then printed on. This raw ceramic is a slip made from already implemented raw ceramic material, so-called green ceramic, which has not yet been sintered. The thickness of this raw ceramic layer is chosen so that the later finished ceramic foil has a thickness d of z. B. 15 to 50 microns, in particular zn about 30 microns.
The following spacer layer 4 is then printed on, for which the same thickness is provided as for the spacer layer already carried out.
The alternate application of a respective further spacer layer 4 , possibly with an edge layer 5 , and a respective further layer for a film 3 is continued until the desired number of films 3 lying one above the other as the piezoelectric active layer is finally reached.
Is for the layers 4, a burning out during the sintering material is provided, ie spacer layers 4 are provided (with still contained therein distance grains), these are such. B. in a vacuum with metal, e.g. B. filled with lead. This metal then forms the electrode material between the piezo-electrically active film layers 3 of the entire bending element according to the invention.
Figs 2 and 3 -. Comparatively to Figure 1 in supervisory -.. Spacers 4, and specifically, FIG 2 shows such the one polarity and Figure 3 shows such the walls ren polarity for a respective electrode of a respective electrode of the MIT. finished bending element to be supplied with electrical voltage. 5.1 is one shape and 5.2 is the other shape of the ceramic edge layers. In the stack of the finished bending element, these two different shapes 5.1 and 5.2 are arranged alternately in succession, so that the openings designated 8 and 9 on the finished element (see the still to be described in FIG. 4) next to each other or are arranged offset to one another. The cavities formed by the spacer layers 4 are moved after the burning of the graphite, for example, th through the openings 8 and 9 in a vacuum with low-melting metal - such as. B. lead, tin or conductive plastic - filled for the electrodes 41 and 42 . 141 and 142 denote the protruding projections later used as connections.
Fig. 4 zeigt ein fertiges erfindungsgemäßes Biegeelement. Fig. 4 shows a finished bending element according to the invention. The reference numerals have the meaning of the details discussed above. With 241 and 242 , the connecting contacts of the Bie geelementes are designated. These are metal coatings on the end faces of the extensions 141 and 142 in the openings 8 and 9, respectively. These through the areas of the ceramic edge layers 5.1 and 5.2 protruding projections or the interruptions 8 and 9 in these areas are also to be provided if such ceramic edge layers are omitted who the. In this case too, the electrode or spacer layer is to be led out at one point to the outer surface of the bending element 1 in the sense of the representations of FIGS. 2 and 3.
After printing on the individual layers 3, 4 and 5 where appropriate, the resulting stack is pressed and sintered.
As far as they are still missing, the required external electrodes are then attached to the sintered bending element 1 .
As such, the material of the ceramic edge layers 5 is mechanical ballast for the bending element 1 . For high-performance elements, it is therefore advisable to remove a portion of the material of these areas 5 after the sintering and the presence of the electrode material in the spacer layers 4 .
B. in Schwefelhexafluorid-Atmo sphäre durchgeführt. For the implementation of the electrical polarization of the sintered ceramic material required for piezoceramic, the procedure is such that electrical polarization voltage is applied to the two leads 141 and 142 which are led to the outside, with which successive foils 3 are polarized in opposite directions accordingly with this electrode arrangement. In particular, if the originally existing edge regions 5 have been removed, this polarization is preferably carried out in an electrically insulating medium, such as, for. B. performed in sulfur hexafluoride atmosphere. Before carrying out this polarization process, it can be particularly advantageous to first polarize the entire body with the foils 3 or layers 4 lying one above the other in only one direction (thickness direction D), before the connections of the electrodes 41 on the one hand and 42 on the other hand by the The connections 241 and 242 are connected. This polarization is also preferably carried out in an electrical insulating medium. The advantage of such an upstream step is that a respective polarization alignment of the ceramic material of the element is first carried out without a major risk of rollovers. The ceramic material of the ceramic edge layers 5 can also be included. This integral polarization of all ceramic parts causes mechanical stresses within the polarized ceramic to be kept to a minimum. The polarization method to be carried out according to the following by applying electrical voltage between the connections 241 and 242 leads to the polarity reversal of the polarization of the respective second film 3 . It should be noted that for the respective polarity reversal of the polarization in the material of one of the ceramic foils 3, a lower polarization voltage or polarization field strength is required than for a first-time polarization. The Umpo larization also generates no additional mechanical tensioning of the ceramic material.
Die Polarisation des Mate rials der Trägerfolie dient ebenfalls der Verringerung mecha nischer Verspannungen und der Verhinderung von störenden Tem peratur-Ausdehnungseffekten im keramischen Material des Bie geelementes 1.It makes sense to polarize the carrier film from the above-mentioned green, even though it will not be piezoelectrically excited in later operation. The polarization of the mate rials of the carrier film also serves to reduce mechanical stresses and to prevent disturbing temperature expansion effects in the ceramic material of the bending element 1 .
Fig. 5 shows a variant of the shape of the electrodes provided in the final he inventive bending element. FIG. 5 shows comparatively to Fig. 2, a spacer layer 54 having a ceramic surface layer 55, the webs 155 and has 255th The free space 54 within the ceramic edge layer 55 and the webs 155 and 255 is by using forth burning material such as. B. graphite, and optionally additional use of spacer grains produced or generated. This interior space is filled with electrode metal in the finished bending element according to the invention. The mirror-symmetrical shape receives the counter electrode corresponding to FIG. 3 of the bending element of this variant. All other details given for FIGS. 1 to 4 apply mutatis mutandis to a variant with an electrode shape according to FIG. 5. The webs 155 and 255 have the effect that correspondingly narrow zones transverse to the length L are present in the individual ceramic films 3 , in which there is no electrical excitation of the ceramic material of these foils during operation. With this measure, which has become known per se for bimorph bending elements, the transverse deformation of the bending element according to the invention can be reduced, with the result that an increase in the useful deflection can be achieved.
It should also be pointed out the advantage of a bending element according to the invention, which consists in the fact that, with the structure according to the invention, which causes the piezoelectric bend, piezoelectrically excitable foils 3 with the resulting high electric field strength, which can be excited in the same direction as the piezoelectric polarization of the Ceramic material is directed and accordingly no depolarization can be caused by the operating voltage.
The presence of the grains in the spacer layers is of particular importance for the bending element provided with them. They provide a support function between the foils 3 . The oxide grains sinter against the ceramic and also form supports that are resistant to bending forces. It is advantageous if, for. B. 10-30% of the volume of the spacer layers 4 of such oxide grain supports.
