Description

Process for the extraction of precious metals from very dilute solutions same, in particular from. 1Vfeer water, brines and aqueous solutions from the potash works. It has previously been suggested for the extraction of precious metals from very high dilute solutions, especially from mechanically clarified seawater, the precious metal directly or with the help of an auxiliary substance that promotes precipitation or flocculation to precipitate and the deposited precious metal-containing masses by filtration collect. This requires special filters, which are important in view of the Quantities of the filtrate to be dealt with and as a result of the often necessary Drainage and replenishment will soon wear off. The auxiliary materials and the required -Mixing the same with the total amount of water make the process more expensive apart from the fact that the auxiliary substances are used to purify the noble metal leading treatment can be made more difficult or even more expensive.

It is also known to separate precious metals from seawater Adsorbents, e.g. B. coal, gravel burn, fibers, etc., so substances with large surface development to use. According to patent 27a654, class 4oa, group 22, after adsorption has been completed the coal burned and from the ashes or slag the precious metal in well-known Way presented.

This adsorption process makes special filters superfluous, but is still uneconomical for the reason that it is used to collect the precious metals Serving substances can only be used once and constantly being refilled the adsorption system become necessary. Fibers and fiber waste materials which are very good are effective adsorbents for precious metals, but would then, d. i.e. if only one-time - Use of the same would be possible, if only because of their higher price and because of them The calorific value is even lower than that of coal.

These disadvantages are to be eliminated by the present invention, which is based on the fact that the adsorbents loaded with the noble metals the torn down precious metals to relatively small amounts of dilute aqueous Solutions of alkali cyanide or cyan gas or mixed solutions of the same with cyanogen bromide give up again, and since they are not attacked by the cyanide solutions themselves at all, therefore also be suitable for adsorption again and again.

The fibers or the peat materials are in towers or in a system to accommodate boxes or pits, which are to be prepared so that when passing through of liquids completely soaked the fibers, but also none Fibers can be washed away with. Flow through these during actual operation containers filled with fibers or peat alternating sea water or brine, etc., for a longer time, and cyanide solution, the latter for a shorter time. The cyanide lye that passed through the plant in the second working period, from which the precious metal is then deposited in pure form by known methods is to be brought, .must for itself when it leaves the adsorption system be caught.

B. Leinen-, Hanf-, Jute-, Wolle-,. Kalotropis-, Stroh-, Holz-, Zellulosefasern usw., desgleichen Torf und Torfprodukte verschiedener Herkunft bewährt. When executing the process, fibers of the most varied Kind, e.g. B. linen, hemp, jute, wool ,. Kalotropis, straw, wood, cellulose fibers etc., as well as peat and peat products of various origins.

The fibers can be used both in a loose and in a loosely compressed state, likewise in the form of cardboard, webbing or loosely woven or knitted Aggregates are applied. There is also waste of fibers or fiber aggregates usable.

Addition of small amounts of cyanogen bromide to the dilute alkali cyanide or cyan gas solutions have proven to be advantageous.
