Abstract

Mattress with a core unit (1), a core cover (3) which surrounds the core unit, and also an outer envelope (6) which is provided with a closing fastener (7), characterised in that when using the mattress with a grid of supporting slats there is provided between the envelope (6) and above the core unit (1) or core cover (3) a free space (10) into which there can be introduced insert elements (11) of different construction as regards their material and/or configuration, and the underside of the mattress is provided with a support layer (3a) of hard flexibility which is adapted to the spring characteristic and the shaping of the slats of a grid of supporting slats and the spacing of the latter from one another.
