Description

  • Musikinstrument mit Stahlsaite. Es sind vielfach Musikinstrumente mit Stahlsaiten in Benutzung und man hat versucht, durch Stoffzusammensetzung (Edelstähle) die dabei erzielten höheren Spannkräfte und größeren Saitenlängen zur Verbesserung des Tones zu benutzen. Ein entscheidendes Merkmal hat jedoch eine gut abgeschliffene Darmsaite den gebräuchlichen hochpolierten Stahlsaiten voraus, nämlich eine matte, etwas angerauhte oder anders gesagt, mit zahllosen Grübchen und Vertiefungen versehene Oberfläche, die wesentlich den Klang beeinflußt. Zunächst wird eine gestrichene Saite (Geige usw.) mit einer matten Oberfläche leichter vom Bogen mitgenommen und läßt sich auch vom Finger angenehmer greifen; dasselbe ist bei gezupften Saiten der Fall. Aber auch bei allen anderen Stahlsaiten (Klavieren, Flügeln usw.) ist zu berücksichtigen, daß eine angerauhte matte Fläche der Saite besser auf die Luft wirkt und die Schwingungen besser vermittelt, als eine glatte, polierte Saitenoberfläche. Statt der Zickzackschwingungen (s. Helmholz, 6. Aufl., S. 615 und 616, Fig. 62) wird das Ausschwingen mehr sinuswellenförmig, also dadurch ein milder Klang bedingt.
  • Die neue Saite wird zunächst nach Art der naturharten Stähle hergestellt und dann mittels eines der bekannten Verfahren, z. B. Ätzen oder Einwirken durch ein Sandstrahlgebläse gerauht. Der Grad der Rauhung wird dem Zwecke entsprechend gewählt.
