Description
An spruchs 1.The invention relates to a device for measuring radioactivity concentration of a gas according to the preamble of An saying 1.
In a Ge known from US Patent 39 82 129 advises of this type the reservoir is open and above one Nothing is said about the container there. The promotion of Adsorbent material from the reservoir towards Collection container is made by a horizontal screw Axis. Exact portioning is not possible with the snail to reach.
The object of the invention is a device according to the preamble of claim 1 indicate that a simple means exact portioning of the adsorption material allowed, ins especially precise control of the middle conveyor speed of the adsorbent material, which in particular small spatial dimensions of the device's measuring accuracy benefits.
The solution to this problem is in the characterizing part of claim 1 specified.
According to the invention, the adsorbent material is from above downward by gravity due to that of the scattering Detector monitored flow chamber promoted. The one on the Bottom of the flow chamber blocking the delivery path Portioned each carries predetermined rotation volumes of adsorbent material from the flow chamber out. Because both the storage container and the collection container ter are gastight, leakage flows of the Ga ses, whose radioactivity concentration is to be measured, in the storage container or in the collection container also at ge ring dimensions of the device avoided.
Advantageous embodiments of the invention are in the Un specified claims.
Es zeigt:The following is an embodiment of the invention explained in more detail with reference to drawings. It shows:
Fig. 1 einen Schnitt durch ein Gerät zum Messen der Radio aktivitätskonzentration eines Gases, insbesondere von Luft, längs der Schnittlinie I-I in Fig. 2 und Fig. 1 shows a section through a device for measuring the radioactivity concentration of a gas, in particular air, along the section line II in Fig. 2 and
FIG. 2 shows a section through the device along the section line II-II in FIG. 1.
Eine in Fig. 1 gestrichelt eingezeichnete Abschirmung 13 aus Blei oder dergleichen umschließt zumindest den Grundkörper 1.The device is used in particular to measure the radioactivity concentration of γ -radiating radioactive iodine in the air. It has a base body 1, for example made of plastic, with a hollow cylindrical through-flow chamber 3 , in the upper side of which the air, whose radioactivity concentration is to be measured, flows in via a feed channel 5 . The air is sucked abge on the underside of the flow chamber 3 via a discharge channel 7 . The flow chamber 3 is, as shown in FIG. 1, in operation with a molecular sieve material 9 serving as an adsorbent material in the form of molecular sieve spheres, which adsorb radioactive particles from the flowing air. The radioactivity concentration in the flow chamber 3 located in the molecular sieve 9 is measured by an attached to a front end of the flow chamber 3 the radiation detector 11, in particular by means of a NaI (Tl) scintillation detector. The window area of the radiation detector is substantially equal to the cross-sectional area of the flow chamber 3rd A shield 13 , shown in broken lines in FIG. 1, made of lead or the like at least surrounds the base body 1 .
In order to avoid accumulation effects of the radioactivity concentration and thus a deterioration of the detection limits and the detection sensitivity, the molecular sieve material 9 is continuously exchanged in the flow chamber 3 with a constant flow rate mean over time. To this end, the flow is parallel to the axis of chamber 3 is a designated angeord to the flow chamber 3 at the bottom, rotatably arranged in a chamber 17 is substantially cylindrical apportioning 15th The portioning roller 15 is provided with a plurality of axially parallel portioning grooves 19 , the width and height of which are approximately equal to the diameter of the molecular sieve balls, and are distributed over their circumference at the same distance from one another. Upon rotation of the apportioning roller 15, the molecular sieve is calculated from the flow chamber 3 via a roller 15 below the portioning airtight subsequent discharge passage 21 in an airtight collection container 23 conveyed. 9 At the same time flows over an approximately vertical, on the top of the flow chamber 3 air-tight supply channel 25 fri cal molecular sieve material 9 from an airtight to closing reservoir 27 due to gravity.
The portioning roller 15 is coupled to an electric gear motor 29 which rotates the portioning roller 15 continuously or, preferably, periodically intermittently. The speed and / or the duty cycle of the geared motor 29 determine the delivery rate with which the molecular sieve material 9 is exchanged. The geared motor 29 can preferably be switched on in two different speed stages or period durations, these stages differing by a factor of 10 to 100. In this way, the exchange time in the event of a fault, in which there are high radioactivity concentrations in the flow chamber 3 , can be considerably reduced.
The discharge channel 7 for the air opens on a sieve 31 , which rests on an axially normal side surface of the portioning roller 15 . The portioning grooves 19 have ends that are open toward the sieve 31 and clean the sieve pores during the rotation of the portioning roller 15 . Air is sucked out of the laterally open ends of the portioning grooves 19 (see FIG. 2) in a way through the sieve 31 .
In order to prevent bridging or clogging of the molecular sieve material 9 in the flow chamber 3 or the channels 21 and 25 , the base body 1 is, as indicated at 32 , mechanically coupled to a vibration device 33 which sets the base body 1 in vibration. As a result, the molecular sieve material 9 is loosened so that it can flow from the supply container 27 into the collecting container 23 without the formation of bridges or plugs. The base body 1 is movably mounted on elastic brackets 35 . A periodically excited electromagnet, the armature of which is coupled to the base body 1, is suitable as the vibration device 33 . In many cases, however, the vibrations exerted by the gear motor 29 on the base body 1 are sufficient to achieve a sufficient vibration effect. This applies in particular when the geared motor 29 is rigidly connected to the base body 1 which is mounted so as to be capable of oscillation.
