Abstract
A control arrangement for water outlet fittings is described, which comprises two alternately activated transmitters for light or ultrasonic signals and a receiver receiving the signals reflected from a part of the user's body, with a circuit controlling a valve located in the water supply to the fitting is arranged downstream, which contains an AND link, so that a water flow only comes about when reflections of the signals from both transmitters are received.
Description
The invention relates to an arrangement for the contactless control of water outlet fittings, consisting of from two symmetrically arranged, pulse-shaped signals emitting signal generators, two symmetrically arranged signal pickups for the pulse-shaped reflected from a part of the body of the user Signals and a circuit connected downstream of the signal pickups, which is a in the water supply line arranged valve controls.
Arrangements for the contactless control of water outlet fittings are known, which after the Principle of the light barrier or the ultrasonic barrier work. Are the signaling device and the signal pick-up located compared to the additional installation and cabling effort is disadvantageous. For (hand) washbasins this solution is also hardly practicable because the water outlet fitting, for example, with the signal transmitter could be equipped, but an additional fitting or to accommodate the signal pick-up a special version of the sink would be required. On the other hand, as already known, form - Signal transmitter and signal pick-up a structural unit and work according to the reflection principle, so results the disadvantage that the light or ultrasonic beam is sufficient even from a powerfully flowing water jet can be strongly reflected that the flow of water is not interrupted when the user is removed.
An arrangement of the type specified in the introduction is known from DE-OS 27 35 942. With this arrangement however, the two symmetrically arranged signal generators and the two signal pickups assigned to them are used for analog control e.g. B. the temperature of the exiting water jet or the water flow. Here, the one signal pickup z. B. a temperature increase when he is from his Signal transmitter receives signals sent and reflected by the hand of the user, while the other signal receiver conversely, under appropriate conditions, a temperature decrease triggers from this The reason for this is that the signal transmitter and the signal pick-up are arranged in such a way that the reflected beam path does not overlap is in the area of the leaking water jet. An interlock circuit prevents damage to the Actuator in the basically possible activation of the two created in this way, separate Measuring channels.
In contrast, the invention is based on the object the reliability of an all-or-nothing principle to improve the working arrangement, in particular to prevent the water jet from continuing to run, although the user has moved away.
The solution to this problem consists in an arrangement of the generic type in that the signal transmitter and the signal pickups are arranged in the region of the outflowing water jet in such a way that the The water jet reflects at most the signal from a signal transmitter onto the signal sensor assigned to it, the user, on the other hand, reflects the signals from both signal transmitters onto the two respective signal receivers, that the signal transmitters can be activated alternately, and that the signal sensors connected downstream Circuit carries out an AND operation of the output signals of the signal pickups.
In this way it can be reliably recognized whether there is z. B. the hands of a user or only the water jet is located, in which latter case it is immediately interrupted.

F i g. 3 shows the block diagram of the circuit arrangement.
The arrangement proposed here for the contactless control of water outlet fittings is described using the example of an electronic control of the water outlet in a wash basin, which is shown in FIG. 1 is denoted by 13. In a base 14, which is connected to the swivel tap 12 to form a unit and which is fixedly arranged on the console of the basin 13 on the wall side, three openings are provided on the vertical narrow side facing the user, of which the two outer openings each have a signal transmitter 4 or 5 are busy. The one in between
Es ist aber auch durchaus möe-The opening is equipped with two signal sensors 6, 7, which receive the signals reflected from the hand of the user take up. The arrangement must be made so that each signal pick-up 6, 7 only the reflected signal may receive that originates from the signal transmitter 4.5 assigned to it. The required selectivity can, for example, by attaching a corresponding partition between the two signal pickups can be achieved. But it is also quite possible

Im Interesse einer sicheren Funktion wird man diesen Bereich nicht allzuweit reichend ausbilden.borrowed the two signal pickups 6, 7 at a distance to be installed separately from one another in the base 14 and to provide each one with its own opening. Fi g. 2 shows on an enlarged scale, the arrangement of the signal generator 4, 5 and the signal pick-up 6, 7 and the Course of the pulses outside the arrangement according to the invention. At 15 is a bordered with dashed lines Area denotes that is intended to indicate the area into which the exiting from the swivel tap 12 Water jet can enter. In the interests of a safe Function one will not train this area too far-reaching.
Finally, in FIG. 3 is the electrical block diagram the arrangement according to the invention shown. In the left part, it contains the information required by the transmitter Assemblies and on the right those for the receiving part. The central part of the transmitter circuit is a gate circuit 2, which has two outputs, one of which is led to a signal generator 4, 5. The signal gel ^ r can be either electro-optic or electro-acoustic transducers. The gate circuit 2 has two inputs, one of which is connected to a signal pulse generator 1, the other, however, to a generator 3, the Although it also delivers pulses, they are of much longer duration than the signal pulses. The impulses of the generator 3 cause in the gate circuit 2 that during the duration of a pulse, for example, the Signal generator 4 is connected to the signal generator 1 and in the pulse pauses, which are expediently have the same duration as the impulses of the signal generator 5. In the illustration of Fig. 3 it was assumed that the signal generators are light-emitting diodes, especially those with infrared radiation, which are for the human Is invisible to the eye. In principle, of course, light of other wavelengths can also be used, the use but infrared has the advantage that the corresponding components are easily available and inexpensive are. Ultrasonic transducers, which are just as easily commercially available, can also be used just as well like the optical converter.
Since in the case of FIG. 3, light-emitting diodes shown on the transmitter side are assumed Optoelectronic transducers are also required on the receiver side. These can be photodiodes, phototransistors or, as shown in Fig. 3, light-dependent Resistors commonly known as LDRs. If necessary, photocells can also be used or selenium lines or the like. Can be used as signal pickups. The output of each signal pickup 6, 7 leads to a common amplifier 8, which amplifies the relatively weak signals so far that one the AND circuit 9 connected to the amplifier output responds reliably. That from the AND circuit The output signal is fed to a timer 10, which holds the signal for short interruptions and this prevents a relay held by the switching stage following timer stage 10 (not shown) begins to rattle. If the signal from the AND circuit is absent for a long time, for example for at least 2 seconds because the user of the system has finished his activity and his hands are no longer closed are in the area of the water jet, then takes place, triggered by the timer 10 and by the switching stage 11 executed, the switching off of the relay, which in turn controls the valve in the water supply line.
