Description
The invention relates to a method according to the preamble of claim 1 and an arrangement according to the preamble of claim 4 for performing the method.
With petrol engines, under certain operating conditions, especially at high loads, knocking occur where down an uncontrolled, explosive combustion is understood. Knocking arises from the fact that sucked in The fuel-air mixture ignites locally in the combustion chamber detects before a flame front emanating from the spark plug has caused the inflammation. The engine is thus exposed to high temperature and pressure loads mechanical damage.
From SAE Technical Paper 78 0413, Buick’s Turbocharged V-6 Powertrain for 1978 is known to be at Ottomo knock by using a so-called Knock detector can be avoided. One turned on in the detector structured transducer is designed so that it Knock in the form of a, based on the engine in question, high vibration level detected and accordingly Output signal that affects the engine ignition that inflames the fuel-air mixture is delayed. This affects the abnormal Ignition course, i.e. the excessively high vibration level, ends. Furthermore, the bypass regulation of the drawer pressure of an exhaust gas turbocharger depending on the over a sensor detected pressure in the intake manifold of the internal combustion engine always seem to be limited to a value that still knocks prevented.
With the known method, however, are certain after parts connected. With a delayed ignition goes a deterioration in thermal efficiency stove. H. a higher specific fuel consumption of the Motors, which is one from the point of view of Luftver pollution unfavorable composition of exhaust gases than in the case of optimal inflammation. Furthermore, he there is an increase in the temperature of the exhaust gases, the increased demands on the materials of components of the engine and the exhaust gas turbocharger as well as on the Mo door cooling results.
Based on the recognition of these disadvantages, a proposal is based the subject of the unpublished older An notification according to DE-AS 28 42 685. There is going out from the internal combustion engine with exhaust gas described above turbocharger as well as a sensor and a valve tendency to temporarily limit the drawer pressure depending on output signals from the sensor. The exhaust gas turbocharger is according to DE-AS 28 42 685 on the Generation of a maximum admissible boost pressure set, knocking can occur and the sensor is on Knock sensor, its output signal when knocking nale the valve in the sense of a temporary reduction in the Adjust boost pressure.
From DE-PS 28 02 202, in particular claim 23, it is known, a method according to the preamble of claim 1 to apply.
From DE-OS 26 50 033 it is also known in one Internal combustion engine with exhaust gas turbocharger the charge air pressure to regulate.
The invention has for its object the combustion in a motor depending on the output signal of a measurement size converter to prevent knocking flow that a deterioration of the thermal we efficiency and an increase in the exhaust gas temperature in the is substantially avoided.
According to the invention, the task is as far as it is a method concerns, with the features of claim 1, and, insofar they be an arrangement for performing the method hits, solved with the features of claim 4. Advantage further training is in the subclaims wrote.
In the method according to the invention, the suction pressure of the motor in accordance with the output signal of the measured variables converter influenced. A reduced intake pressure leads although, as in known methods, to reduce the Engine power because the fuel Air quantity decreases. However, when using the Erfin avoid a change in thermal efficiency the, d. H. the specific fuel consumption can un be kept changed. Furthermore, the exhaust gas pollutants are kept almost unchanged, as is the temperature of the exhaust gases and the requirements the engine cooling system.
Es zeigtEmbodiments of the invention are as follows based on schematic drawings described. It shows
Fig. 1 eine Anordnung zum Durchführen des Verfahrens gemäß der Erfindung und Fig. 1 shows an arrangement for performing the method according to the invention and
Fig. 2 shows an advantageous embodiment of the arrangement shown in Fig. 1.
In the combustion in an engine 1 , a vibration level is generated, which is detected by a transducer 2 connected to the engine 1 . Depending on this, the transducer 2 sends out an output signal which is amplified in a downstream amplifier 3 before it is fed to a comparator 4 . The amplified output signal from the transducer 2 is compared in the comparator 4 with a reference value generated by a reference value generator 5 , which represents a normal combustion corresponding vibration level in the engine. A possible deviation results in a corresponding output signal generated by the comparator which, after amplification in an amplifier 6, is fed to an actuator 7 , which accordingly regulates the pressure in the engine intake system 8 . Thus, the combustion in the engine 1 is influenced in such a way that the vibration level subsequently detected by the transducer 2 is gradually reduced, and finally a state is reached in which the comparator 4 registers no further deviations.
In Fig. 2, a further developed embodiment of the arrangement according to the invention for a gasoline engine with charge is shown. The engine unit 10 , an intake system 11 , an exhaust system 12 and an exhaust gas turbocharger 13 belong to this gasoline engine. The latter has a turbocompressor 14 integrated into the intake system 11 and a turbine 15 which is operated with exhaust gases and which is integrated into the exhaust system 12 . A valve 16 is provided which controls the exhaust gas flow through a pipe 17 passing the turbine 15 and thus also the exhaust gas flow through the turbine 15 . In this way, the speed of rotation of the turbine 15 and thereby also the speed of rotation of the directly driven compressor 14 is influenced. Such a change in the rotational speed causes a change in the pressure which prevails in the intake system 11 in the direction of flow behind the compressor 14 and is referred to below as “boost pressure”.
The valve 16 has a conventional operating device 18 with which the opening and closing of the valve 16 is controlled. The valve 16 designed as a poppet valve in the example shown has a valve rod 19 which is rigidly connected to a membrane 20 arranged on the actuating device 18 . The membrane 20 divides the actuating device 18 into an outer chamber 22 and an inner chamber 23 . The outer chamber 22 is supplied with charging pressure via a tube 24 . The inner chamber 23 is in communication with ambient air, but also has a screw benfeder 25 , which biases the valve 16 in the closing direction. The tube 24 is connected to the intake air system through a tube 26 in the flow direction in front of the compressor 14 connected. The section of the tube 24 , which is located between its connection points with the intake air system 11 and the tube 26 , has a reduced flow cross-section created by a constriction point 27 , which in an open position shown in FIG. 2 shows a time control valve 28 arranged in the tube 26 is smaller than the corresponding area in tube 26 . The timing valve 28 regulates the air flow through the tube 26 and thereby the pressure that controls the valve 16 via the tube 24 . The regulation of the time control valve 28 is dependent on a signal supplied to it, the value of which represents the deviation between the actual boost pressure and the maximum boost pressure, which is permissible for optimal, ie free of anomalous combustion with a tendency to knock the engine.
The signal supplied to the timing valve 28 is generated in an electronic unit which contains a transducer 30 in the form of an accelerometer of a genus known per se. The transducer 30 is normally of the piezoelectric type and detects vibrations prevailing in the engine walls which are directly attributable to the pressure conditions prevailing in the engine 10 during combustion. Depending on this, the transducer 30 generates an output signal that is directly proportional to the pressure conditions mentioned. The output signal is sent via a connecting line 31 to an amplifier circuit 32 and is transmitted in an amplified form to a comparator 33 .
The comparator 33 also receives a reference signal via a connecting line 34 a . This signal is obtained from the distributor 35 arranged in a conventional manner on the motor, which generates a series of pulses with a frequency directly corresponding to the motor rotational speed. The pulse series is fed via the connecting line 34 to a converter 36 and converted therein into an output signal from a voltage which changes in accordance with the frequency of the pulse series. The signal value is thus directly proportional to the engine speed, but also serves as a direct reference value for the pressure conditions that should prevail during combustion in an optimally working gasoline engine.
The result of the comparison carried out in the comparator 33 between the signal representing the actual pressure conditions in the engine and the signal representing the decisive value for the said pressure conditions is an output signal of a level which represents the difference between the said signals. This signal is fed to an integrator 40 via a connecting line 38 and the output signal processed by it is sent to a potentiometer 42 via a connecting line 41 . The latter enables the signal value to be set manually to a predetermined level for a specific motor before the signal is applied to an input of a comparator 44 . The second input of the comparator receives a signal from a pressure transducer 46 via a connecting line 45 , which detects the boost pressure in the intake system 11 and transmits a signal corresponding thereto. The pressure transmitter 46 is designed such that it transmits an output signal within an upper range in which the regulation of the boost pressure is important from the point of view of knocking.
Depending on the difference between the supplied signals, the comparator 44 generates an output signal which is fed to a pulse modulator 48 and in which the ratio between the positive and the negative portion of the period depends on the level of the output signal of the comparator 44 . The pulse series from the pulse modulator 48 is amplified in an amplifier 49 , which forms the driver stage for the time control valve 28 . The latter works in principle like an electromagnetic valve, which opens and closes keeping up with the changes between the positive and negative period sections of the pulse series.
The components of the electronic described above Unit are of simple and well known in electronics Circuits formed and are therefore not described in detail.
When the engine is operating normally, the transducer 30 in the engine 10 detects a similar normal vibration level. As a result, the level of the signal fed to the comparator 33 falls below the level of the reference signal also fed to the comparator 33 . The output signal of the comparator 33 thus assumes a value which is in relation to the difference between the supplied signal values. The following integration of the signals in the integrator 40 results in an output signal which is supplied from the integrator 40 via the connection line 41 after a possible setting in the potentiometer 42 with comparator 44 and therein as the decisive value for the comparator 44 from the pressure transducer 46 sent signal is used. The latter represents the actual boost pressure, whereas the signal that acts as a criterion represents the maximum boost pressure that is permissible to ensure knock-free combustion.
As long as the motor 10 is working to a normal vibration level ar, as detected by the transducer 30 , the criterion level supplied to the comparator 44 is so high that the true value in the connecting line 45 does not exceed said criterion value. The output from comparator 44 is at a relatively high level, and the conversion in pulse modulator 48 results in a series of pulses in which the portion of the period that causes timing valve 28 to keep tube 26 open is large compared to the period portion , the time control valve 28 can keep the tube 26 closed. In the latter case, the lack of control pressure from pipe 24 means that the boost pressure must reach comparatively high values before said pressure, via pipe 24 , is able to open valve 16 to stop the exhaust gas flow through turbine 15 to reduce. The compressor 14 is thus enabled to generate a high boost pressure and to deliver it to the engine 10 .
On the other hand, if the transducer 30 detects an abnormally high vibration level as a result of knocking during combustion in the engine 10 , it will transmit a signal of higher than normal value. The difference from the reference signal thus becomes smaller, and this causes the level of both the output signal from the comparator 33 and the output signal of the integrator 40 to drop. The last-mentioned signal represents a decisive value for the boost pressure, which also corresponds to the maximum boost pressure that is permissible for normal engine operating conditions. As a result, the level of the permissible maximum boost pressure is reduced compared to the normal case. The difference from that which represents the true boost pressure, the signal value in the connecting line 45 is canceled, and the output signal from the comparator 44 changes its value. After the conversion in the pulse modulator 48 , the ratio between the periods in the pulse series coming from the modulator has also been changed. The period of time in which the time control valve 28 keeps the tube 26 closed is long compared to the period of time during which it is kept open. The control pressure drop in the tube 24 is consequently small, and the valve 16 is thus supplied with a comparatively high control pressure which is able to open the valve 16 early, that is to say at a relatively low boost pressure. The exhaust gas flow through the turbine 15 decreases, and thereby also the charge generated in the compressor 14 . The reduced boost pressure reduces the tendency to knock during combustion in the engine. This is detected by the transducer 30 , after which the timing valve is reset, and so on.
Compared to the basic solution shown in FIG. 1, the embodiment according to FIG. 2 contains not only a comparison with respect to the engine vibration level, but also a second comparison with regard to the boost pressure. The comparison of the boost pressure ensures that a higher boost pressure is not delivered to the engine than the decisive critical pressure set with the potentiometer 42 , even when the engine is supplied with a fuel at which the knock tendency is so low, i.e. the octane number is so high that higher boost pressures per se can be permitted without knocking occurring during combustion. If there was no boost pressure comparison, there would be no upper limit for the boost pressure in this case. The engine power could thus reach a level for which the engine is not designed.
In practice, an embodiment of the invention according to FIG. 2 has further detailed solutions, for example those whose task is to ensure that the engine is not exposed to an excessively high boost pressure when a fault occurs in the system, such as e.g. B. Failure of the transducer or breakage of the tubes 24, 26, etc.
The number of transducers can be changed, and their output signal can be processed in different ways be before it is allowed the intake pressure to operate influencing device. When using more Different transducers can also have different para meters can be recorded. The device mentioned can be a nor male throttle valve in the intake system or a separate one Form device that directly or the engine intake pressure indirectly affected.
