The invention relates to a device for separating broken material according to the preamble of claim 1.
Cocoa beans, which come from a grate, sterilization or pre-drying plant depending on the type of pre-treatment, are usually broken in a reflection crusher. The resulting fractions of cocoa kernel fragments, the so-called nibs, and the shells must then be separated from one another for further processing of the nibs. The separation accuracy must be as high as possible, as it has a decisive influence on the quality of the finished cocoa mass. According to the current regulations, a maximum of 2% shells are permitted in the nibs. Furthermore, the service life of the downstream grinding systems is significantly improved by keeping the proportion of shells in the nibs as low as possible.
Die Klassiereinrichtung besitzt fünf kaskadenformig hintereinander angeordneteUntil now, the nibs were separated from the shells by sieving them into different fractions and then air sifting the individual fractions. In a special system of the applicant, the cocoa beans are automatically fed from upstream machines onto a large pre-sieve and then conveyed to the crushing and classifying station. The cocoa beans broken in the rotary double-throw crusher are separated into six fractions on a classifying device. The mixture of shells and nibs emerging from the side of the sieve box in a parabolic throw is separated into fractions and passed into a separate ascending classifier. A directed air flow, which is tailored to the grain size of each fraction, achieves a good separation of the specifically heavier nibs from the specifically light shells according to the principle of countercurrent sifting. The classifying device has five cascade-shaped
Sieves that divide the cocoa nibs from coarse to fine into six fractions. The sieving principle used, from coarse to fine, results in short contact times due to the short distances of the main mass and offers microbiological and hygienic advantages. The sifting of the individual fractions takes place in six laterally arranged ascending sifters. The finely divided sifting into six fractions achieves a higher separation effect and more precise sorting with a high throughput. The air speed of each ascending shaft can be adjusted for optimal separation. The six shell fractions are then sucked upwards, separated from the air in six shell separators and discharged via a common shell lock. The nibs fall downwards onto a vibrating discharge chute.
Although the above system produces very good separation results, it is relatively complex in terms of construction and operational technology.
In this context, a process has also become known in which the effect of electrostatic forces is used to separate the broken material.
The object of the invention is to further improve the device of the type mentioned in order to achieve comparably good separation results with less equipment and thus to achieve significant cost savings when separating waste material.
This object is achieved according to the invention by a charging zone for electrically charging the broken material to be separated with at least one feed hopper for the broken material to be separated and at least one vibrating trough connected to it and in conveying connection with the feed hopper, which is provided with differently charged electrodes that generate a homogeneous electrical field, between which the broken material to be separated is conveyed through in order to be electrically charged, furthermore by a deflection zone with a suction device for the shells of the broken material consisting of core fragments and shells and by a separation zone for separating the shells from the suction air flow with at least one air classifier.
This device makes it possible to separate the lighter shells from the heavier core fragments within the vibrating trough, as the lighter shells have already separated from the core fragments in the area of the two electrodes, and are then carried away by the suction air in a known manner, while the heavier core fragments are carried away at the end of the vibrating trough.

Advantageous embodiments of the device are characterized in the subclaims.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the exemplary embodiment shown in Figure 1 of the drawing, which shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of the separating device according to the invention.
To separate the broken material, consisting of grains, nuts, almonds or beans and their shells broken in a crusher, but in particular to separate cocoa kernels, the so-called nibs, from the cocoa bean shells, the broken material 5 is fed in fractionated form, raw or dried or dried and steam-treated or roasted or roasted and steam-treated, into the feed hopper shown in Fig. 1, the outlet end of which opens into a vibrating or shaking chute 6, which is provided with differently charged electrodes 7, 8 that generate a homogeneous electric field, between which the broken material to be separated is passed in order to be electrostatically charged. The feed hopper 4 and the vibrating chute, together with the electrodes 7, 8, form the charging zone 1 of the separating device.
The vibrating trough 6 is equipped with a vibration drive (not shown) that can be set so that a desired broken material conveying speed is achieved, whereby the conveying quantity of the vibrating trough can be additionally influenced by the fact that the feed hopper 4 is height-adjustable. The vibrating trough is completely electrically insulated from the outside. Its wall consists of plastic material in which the electrodes 7, 8 are embedded and is lined with metal. The inner wall of the vibrating trough is also provided with contours in the form of hump-like structures that serve to mix the broken material particles 5 running over them and to optimize the electrical charge to be transferred to the particles with the hoofs of the electrodes. In order to optimize this transfer, the formation of a single-grain layer on the vibrating trough floor is aimed for. The bottom electrode 7 is connected to a direct voltage (U+) of approximately 20 - 40 kV and represents the anode, while the second metal electrode 8 located directly above it is the grounded cathode and supports the charge transfer to the broken material particles 5.
Die Ladung sitzt im wesentlichen auf der Oberfläche dieser Teilchen, die übertragene Ladungsmenge ist somit proportional der Größe derAs they move between the electrodes 7 and 8, the broken particles, namely the cocoa nibs 15 and the cocoa bean shells 16, are charged to varying degrees. The charge is essentially located on the surface of these particles, and the amount of charge transferred is thus proportional to the size of the
·· f·· f
Particle surface. The speed at which the charging occurs depends on the electrical conductivity of the material, which is approximately the same for the shells and nibs.
Thus, the charging zone 1 is designed according to the size of the charge to be transferred to the particles, since the size of the electrical charge of the particles is crucial for their separation.
The two electrodes 7 and 8 are coated with an insulating layer, since otherwise, when the charged debris particles come into contact with the electrodes, charge reversal processes would take place and the particles would jump back and forth between the electrodes.
The electrode 7 is located at the bottom of the trough, while the electrode 8 is arranged in the area of the ceiling of the vibrating trough 6 and is designed as a perforated plate.
Because the lighter broken material components, i.e. the cocoa bean shells 16, are lifted off from the heavier core broken particles (nibs) within the vibrating trough 6 during the electrical charging of the broken material between the electrodes 7 and 8, as shown in Fig. 1, they reach the electrode 8, are discharged there and pass through its perforated plate into a hood 24 of a suction device 25. The hood 24 is located above the electrode 8 and is connected to a suction pipe 26 which is connected to an air sifter 27 designed as a cyclone 20, which in turn is connected to a suction fan 28 via an exhaust pipe 21. The exhaust pipe 21 opens into the cyclone 20, on whose conical inner wall the cocoa bean shells 16 collect, in order to fall into a receiving container 24 arranged at the lower end of the cyclone.
The air sifter 27 and the receiving container 24 thus form the separation zone 3 in which the shells 16 are separated from the suction air stream, while the area immediately above the cathode 8 adjoining the charging zone 1 is referred to as the deflection zone 2. The air sucked out of the exhaust pipe 21 by the suction fan 28 driven by a motor 22 is released into the open air as exhaust air 23. At the end 29 of the vibrating chute 6, the cocoa bean fragments 15 are thrown into a conveyor system 13, which transports them away for further processing.
Dabei sind die auftretenden Kräfte im elektrischen Feld von ausreichender Größe, um im Hinblick auf die Unterschiede von NibsThe system shown makes it possible to separate nibs and shells using an electrostatic separating device, which leads to optimal separation results with comparatively little effort. The forces occurring in the electric field are of sufficient magnitude to compensate for the differences between nibs and shells.
The necessary voltages are in the range of 40 kV to 50 kV. By appropriately fractionating the fragments 5 that enter the feed hopper 4, particularly large particles can be separated in advance if the device does not offer optimal separation performance for them. In addition, the separation results can be optimized by varying the electrode distance, the applied voltage, the polarity of the voltage as well as the feed rate and the moisture level of the nibs and shells.
