BeschreibungDescription
Wirbelstromsensor. The invention relates to a device for measuring the complex impedance of a lossy coil, the impedance of which depends on a non-electrical measured quantity, and to an inductive sensor or eddy current sensor constructed according to this device.
A coil dependent on a non-electrical measurement quantity - hereinafter referred to as a sensor coil or measuring coil - is used in many different ways in industrial measurement technology, process monitoring and sensor technology as an inductive distance sensor or inductive proximity switch for distance measurement and as an eddy current sensor for non-destructive material testing. The non-electrical measurement quantities can be the distance s of a measurement object - hereinafter referred to as the control flag - or the physical properties of the measurement object, such as electrical conductivity σ, permeability μ or derived quantities.
If such a measuring object, usually metallic, is introduced into the alternating electromagnetic field of the coil of an inductive sensor, the complex impedance of the coil is changed by the non-electrical measuring variables. At a suitable frequency, the non-electrical measuring variables often only influence one component of the complex impedance, for example the electrical conductivity of the measuring object influences the loss resistance of the coil or the permeability of the measuring object influences the inductance of the coil. However, the coil without a measuring object is always subject to loss, i.e. an inductive sensor has additional ohmic losses in addition to the basic inductance. The electrical measuring circuits should, if possible, only record the part of the impedance or a quantity derived from the impedance that is dependent on the non-electrical measuring variable. The behavior of a measuring circuit for evaluating the change in the complex impedance or a derived quantity depends on the properties of the coil. The quality Q or the loss factor D and the temperature behavior of the coil determine the properties of the measurement if the measuring sensitivity is sufficiently high. In other words, the measuring properties are determined to a large extent by the losses of the coil. By choosing a suitable measuring circuit, an attempt is made to measure only the part of the complex impedance that depends on the measured quantity or a quantity derived from it, for example the effective resistance or the inductance or the quality or the loss factor. Numerous measuring circuits are known to solve this problem, but only a few circuits have proven to be useful in practice. In most cases, the evaluation circuits are adapted directly to the sensor coil to improve the measuring properties.
The behavior of electrical and electronic circuits depends on the properties of the components used. The quality and temperature behavior of resistors and capacitors can be controlled with modern technologies; the properties of modern semiconductor circuits can also be determined by choosing the right circuit; however, only a few circuits are known that improve the quality and temperature response of a lossy coil.
The most important contactless sensors for process control and system monitoring are inductive distance or proximity sensors or proximity switches and proximity initiators. An inductive proximity sensor contains a coil with a directed electromagnetic high-frequency field. Commercially available cylindrical single or half-shell cores made of ferromagnetic ferrite material are usually used for this. This creates a preferred direction of the electromagnetic high-frequency field on the exposed legs of these rotationally symmetrical single shell cores. If an electrically or magnetically conductive or ferromagnetic material - a so-called control flag - is placed in this directed high-frequency field, the magnetic and electrical components of the high-frequency field are damped and thus the coil is damped.
The coil of this LC oscillator circuit generates the directed electromagnetic high-frequency field. The damping of the electromagnetic high-frequency field described above reduces the amplitude of the high-frequency oscillations of the oscillator. The amplitude of the oscillator high-frequency oscillations can be used as a measure of the damping of the directed electromagnetic high-frequency field, i.e. as a measure of the distance of a control flag. To evaluate the damping, the amplitude of the oscillator high-frequency signal is generally rectified and filtered with a low-pass filter. This rectified and filtered high-frequency amplitude signal is a direct voltage or direct current signal and can either be amplified directly into an analogue signal to indicate the distance of a control flag or converted into a switching signal with the aid of a subsequent evaluation circuit, whereby the switching signal changes its switching state at a defined distance of the control flag. Inductive proximity switches in particular, which work according to the function described above, are used in numerous designs and in large numbers for system control and system monitoring. A Meissner oscillator circuit is very often used as a circuit for generating the high-frequency oscillations. With an inductive proximity sensor, the achievable and usable distance range, i.e. the distance of the control flag from the "active" surface of the coil, depends essentially on the size and properties of the high-frequency coil. The damping by the control flag causes a change in the quality factor Q of the coil. As the control vane approaches, the quality Q is reduced from a maximum value Q 0 in the form of an S-curve to a minimum value. The switching point or the measuring range is best placed in the steepest part of the S-curve, usually at the turning point. If you want to increase the measuring range, you must also use the flatter parts of the S-curve. The measurement is subject to a much greater uncertainty in a flatter part, since a certain evaluable change in quality here means a large change in the distance s of the control vane. The influence of the ambient temperature on the relative quality Q/Q o of a coil shows that the quality decreases with increasing temperature. The influence of temperature on the coil quality significantly limits the usable distance measuring range for inductive proximity sensors, since the change in quality due to the influence of temperature in
einem vorgesehenen Temperatur-Arbeitsbereich größer werden kann als die durch eine Steuerfahne bewirkte Änderung.a specified temperature operating range can be greater than the change caused by a control flag.
In many applications and in many designs, the distance measuring range is chosen so low that no special measures for temperature compensation are necessary. In critical applications, temperature-dependent resistors, such as thermistors or PTC thermistors, are used to compensate for the temperature variation of the switching distance. However, this additional effort only leads to satisfactory results in a limited temperature range. A significant increase in the usable distance measuring range cannot be achieved in this way.
In dieser an sich bekannten Ersatzschaltung repräsentiertA lossy coil is described by the complex impedance Z. An alternating voltage H applied to the coil leads the alternating current / flowing through the coil by the phase angle ψ^ 1 , which is smaller than 90° (degrees) by the loss angle S. The behavior of a lossy sensor coil of an inductive proximity sensor is described by an equivalent circuit in which the field loss resistance Rp is taken into account by an ohmic parallel resistance in parallel with a reactance X L by a pure inductance L and in series with this parallel connection the winding resistance R cu of the coil is taken into account by an ohmic series resistor, as shown for example in the German laid-open specification OS 38 14 131 in Fig. 2a. In this equivalent circuit known per se,

The quality of a coil is given by the ratio of the reactance Im(Z) and the loss resistance Re(Z), where Z is the complex impedance of the coil.

The influence of the ambient temperature on the impedance Z and on the quality Q of a coil is essentially caused by the temperature dependence of the loss resistances. The temperature coefficient α of the direct current resistance of the copper winding of the coil is known to be approximately 3.95 · 10" /K. The temperature responses of the other loss resistances are usually smaller, but their size depends on the design of the coil.
Die Güte und damit auch der Temperaturgang einer Spule ist eine zusammengesetzte Größe, die bei verschiedenen Bauarten und sogar von Exemplar zu Exemplar starkenThe quality and thus also the temperature response of a coil is a composite value that varies greatly between different designs and even from one model to another.
Schwankungen unterworfen ist. Deshalb muß eine Kompensation bzw. eine Reduzierung des Temperaturganges mindestens für jede Bauart einer Spule getrennt vorgenommen werden.is subject to fluctuations. Therefore, compensation or a reduction of the temperature response must be carried out separately for each coil type.
As a measure of the distance of a measurement object (control vane) from the sensor coil, the measured variables complex impedance Z or, alternatively, quality Q or apparent resistance Z of the measuring coil are generally measured. The quality is often measured using an LC oscillating circuit or the apparent resistance is measured in non-destructive material testing. The disadvantage of these measurements is that they depend on the temperature and material of the measurement object and therefore the accuracy of the measured variable is reduced. When the quality is measured using an LC oscillating circuit, this oscillating circuit is excited to resonate in an oscillator, with the oscillation amplitude of the oscillator being a measure of the quality. The apparent resistance Z can be determined from the simultaneous effective value measurement of the voltage TJ ~ applied to the measuring coil and the current / „ flowing through the measuring coil.
Aus der komplexen Impedanz Z = R + jo)L ergibt sich der Scheinwiderstand Z.The apparent resistance Z contains the active component R (loss resistance) and the frequency-dependent reactive component X L = uL. The apparent resistance Z results from the complex impedance Z = R + jo)L.

If the effective resistance R is negligible, the reactance X T results from the current and voltage measurements.

To measure the complex impedance Z that is actually to be measured, two separate measuring processes must be used to determine either
- der Wirkwiderstand R als Realteil Re(Z) und der Blindwiderstand X, als Imaginärteil Im(Z) der komplexen Impedanz oder- the active resistance R as real part Re(Z) and the reactance X as imaginary part Im(Z) of the complex impedance or
In most applications, only one of the measured quantities shown above is measured, namely only the one that reacts as selectively as possible to the quantity to be measured, the distance between the control vane and the measuring coil, and that is influenced as little as possible by disturbances such as temperature and electromagnetic radiation, so that the accuracy and resolution are as high as possible.
In the German patent application 35 13 403, a method is specified whereby the temperature coefficient of the winding copper resistance of the resonant circuit coil is used to compensate for the temperature coefficient of the quality of the resonant circuit, whereby a voltage proportional to the copper resistance of the resonant circuit coil is applied to the resonant circuit using a second coil. However, this temperature compensation can only be achieved under very specific conditions. The copper resistance of the second coil must be significantly greater than the copper resistance of the resonant circuit coil, while the inductance of both coils must be the same. These conditions are very difficult to meet in practice.
In the German patent application 38 14 131, a method and a device are specified in which the effective resistance of the sensor coil is measured directly as a field loss resistance using a power measurement. This field loss resistance of the sensor coil, caused by the losses of the electromagnetic field as a result of the stray field and as a result of electromagnetic damping by a control flag, depends on the distance s of the control flag when choosing a suitable frequency. When using a four-wire circuit, the measurement is temperature-independent over a wide temperature range, since the temperature-dependent winding resistance of the coil (also known as copper resistance) and the line resistances of the four supply lines are not included in the measurement. The effective power in the coil, which is inversely proportional to the field loss resistance, is measured by multiplying the coil alternating current and the induced coil alternating voltage in phase and then using low-pass filtering. In a similar way, the reactive power in the coil can be measured by means of a phase-correct multiplication of the 90° phase-shifted coil alternating current and the induced coil alternating voltage and subsequent low-pass filtering. This is also inversely proportional to the coil reactance or coil inductance. To easily separate the primary and secondary sides, i.e. the coil current and the induced coil voltage, the induced coil voltage is coupled out using a second winding. In the simplest case, the two windings are identical and wound bifilarly.
In the German patent application 43 28 097, a device is described for measuring the impedance of passive sensors (inductive, capacitive and ohmic sensors) with a double feedback phase locked loop (PLL), where a measuring phase shifter is arranged as a low-pass or high-pass filter with the sensor component in one feedback line. The frequency-analog signal evaluation of such a phase locked loop has a very high measurement sensitivity. Furthermore, the frequency-analog output signal can be further processed in a simple manner and converted into a digital signal.
Bei allen bisher bekannten induktiven Näherungsschaltern ist die Schaltgeschwindigkeit, d. h. die Grenzfrequenz für Schaltvorgänge, durch die Tiefpaßfilterung zur Erzeugung des abstandsabhängigen Ausgangssignals (meist eine Gleichspannung) und besondersIn all previously known inductive proximity switches, the switching speed, i.e. the limit frequency for switching operations, is determined by the low-pass filtering to generate the distance-dependent output signal (usually a direct voltage) and particularly
The limit frequency of the measurable switching processes is determined by electrical charge transfer processes and by the inertia of the stationary, alternating electromagnetic field of the sensor coil. The frequency response of the switching frequency of an inductive proximity switch shows the behavior of a low-pass filter, i.e. the lowest limit frequency of the measuring chain essentially determines its entire frequency response. The low-pass filter mentioned above is used not only to generate the distance-dependent output signal but also to suppress internal and external interference signals. The limit frequency of the switching processes is usually around 1 kHz; a limit frequency of 10 kHz can only be achieved with significant electronic means, but only with lower interference suppression or a worse signal-to-noise ratio.
Furthermore, the temperature response of the impedance of the sensor coil, in particular the winding resistance R cu , limits the measurement sensitivity, so that it makes sense to only improve those measurement methods that take into account or compensate for the temperature response of the sensor coil.
Furthermore, the analog output signal or the switching point depends on the material of the control flag, which reduces the measuring accuracy of the inductive proximity sensor. This dependency is eliminated either by a material actuator or by complex compensation measures with auxiliary coils on the secondary side of a transformer or by a differential method with mathematical-circuitry signal processing to compensate for the material actuator. In the German utility model G 94 12 765.4, this problem is solved by means of a differential method by measuring the voltage induced in the sensor coil and the resonance frequency of an LC oscillating circuit formed with the sensor coil and by a mathematical-technical linking of these two signals. Here too, the switching speed of the inductive proximity sensor is significantly reduced due to the low-pass filtering of the two signals and the energy stored in the oscillating circuit.
It is therefore apparent that correction methods for some influencing and disturbing variables are known. However, no method or device is known to date that, based on the method itself, reduces or completely avoids the influences and disturbances in the measurement described above.
The invention is therefore based on the object of significantly increasing the detectable limit frequency of an inductive proximity sensor or eddy current sensor or the maximum measurable switching speed of an inductive proximity switch or proximity initiator without impairing its measuring properties, so that the measuring accuracy and susceptibility to noise are maintained or even improved.
The invention solves the problem primarily in accordance with claim 1, according to which the phase shift between the applied alternating voltage U or induced alternating voltage JJ. d and the alternating current flowing through a sensor coil of an inductive proximity sensor is measured using electronic means immediately during each half-period or a multiple of each half-period of current and voltage. The solution is based on the knowledge that the complex impedance Z or a derived measurement variable of the sensor coil, here preferably the phase shift (P 1 J 1 between current and voltage, can be measured as frequently and as immediately as possible after a possible change if the impedance Z is determined without a delay by additional filters. Each low-pass and band-pass filter with its cut-off or resonant frequency f Q delays the signal between its input and output by the delay time T 0 = l/f Q .
In measurement technology, the use of digital technology is becoming increasingly popular due to its high signal processing speed up to limit frequencies of several GHz and due to its greater immunity to interference and simpler signal processing compared to analog technology. In digital measurement technology, the processing of the signals is discrete in terms of value and time. For the reasons stated above, the necessary quantization of the measurement signals should be carried out at the beginning of the measurement chain if possible, so that the entire measurement device can be constructed using simple and inexpensive digital switching elements and modules. In the simplest case, the value of an analog signal to be measured (current or voltage) can be output as a binary signal, i.e. whether the signal is greater or smaller than a comparison signal. This task can be fulfilled for a voltage using a voltage comparator. The value zero can be used as a comparison voltage, for example, so that with a pure symmetrical alternating voltage without a direct voltage component, the zero crossing can be used as a switching condition for the binary output signal of the voltage comparator. The switching condition can also be a finite reference DC voltage that is not equal to zero. This is preferably used for an AC voltage with a DC component. The same procedure as described above can be carried out in the same way for an analog AC signal.
Bei der Verwendung eines Kondensators oder einer Spule in derIn an inductive proximity sensor according to the invention, the measurement of the complex impedance Z or, alternatively, the measurement of the phase shift ψ^ is carried out when the measuring coil alternating voltage U and the measuring coil alternating current / pass through zero or when these alternating signals exceed or fall below a comparison direct signal. Preferably, voltage signals are used so that only the voltage comparators described above can be used. For this purpose, the alternating current signal / is converted into a proportional alternating voltage U 1 using a current-voltage converter, preferably a pure reference impedance Z~, for example an ohmic resistor, a low-loss capacitor or a low-loss coil, or a mixed combination of these components. When using a capacitor or a coil in the

To determine the phase shift ψ^ , the time interval T^ is measured in relation to the period T of the sensor coil alternating signal. By linking the two output signals of the two comparators using digital gates, flip-flops, memory elements or flip-flops or combinations of these digital link elements, a pulse train is created with a pulse repetition frequency or pulse rate that is derived from the frequency/the measuring coil alternating voltage and is therefore identical or twice as high. Digital link elements are also known that contain such comparators as an input stage. In the simplest case, such an analog comparator can be an operational amplifier without negative feedback. The duty cycle of the pulse train therefore corresponds to the phase shift ψ φΓ. The measurement of the duty cycle can be converted into an analog or digital signal using analog and digital electrical or electronic means not described in detail here and evaluated mathematically and using circuitry, whereby no low-pass filtering is necessary.
The measurement of the complex impedance Z is carried out, for example, by means of the measurement of the phase shift φ^ or the apparent power Z described above. The apparent power Z can be carried out, for example, by means of an effective value measurement of the measuring coil current / ff and the measuring coil voltage U ff .

Der größte Anteil der Wirkkomponente der komplexen Impedanz Z ist der stark temperaturabhängige Wicklungswiderstand Rcu, der im folgenden mit R1 bezeichnet wird.of the sensor coil, whereby the calculation of the values R and X can be carried out by means of a mathematical-circuitry connection with known electrotechnical means. The complex impedance Z of the sensor coil of an inductive proximity sensor is made up, as described above, of the parallel connection of the field loss resistance R p and the pure reactance X L and the winding resistance R 1 as a series resistor. The largest part of the active component of the complex impedance Z is the strongly temperature-dependent winding resistance R cu , which is referred to below as R 1 .
It is therefore the object of the present invention to specify a measuring method and a measuring device in which the temperature dependence of the coil is no longer included in the measurement of the distance of the control lug, so that, for example, when used as a proximity sensor, the distance or as a proximity switch, the switching distance is measured very stably over a wide temperature range. The device according to the invention is characterized in that measuring means are present in order to directly measure the field loss resistance R p and the pure measuring coil reactance X L. This device according to the invention is based on the knowledge that this field loss resistance R p and the pure coil reactance X are dependent on the distance s of the control lug, while the winding resistance R 1 is independent of the distance s of the control lug.
The field loss resistance R p and the pure reactance X L of the sensor coil cannot be measured directly from the measuring coil voltage U and from the measuring coil current I , since the measuring coil voltage U is measured too high by the voltage drop across the winding resistance Rj . The invention is therefore based on the further finding that the voltage drop across the parallel connection of i?^, and X^, the so-called induced voltage U. ", is to be measured. The induced measuring coil voltage U. , (now referred to as H 1 - α = U 1 ) can only be measured by means of an auxiliary coil L 2 as H 2 . . = H 2 , which is attached directly to the measuring coil L . and is directly magnetically coupled to it, so that the coupling factor k is as close to one as possible. The induced voltage of the primary side Uj behaves in a manner corresponding to the known transmission of alternating voltages by means of a transformer or transmitter. , -H 1 to the induced voltage of the secondary side H 2 -A = H 2 as the number of turns of the primary side N 1 to that of the secondary side N 2 .

The secondary voltage IZ 2 is therefore directly proportional to the inductive measuring coil primary voltage U 1 , which cannot be measured directly, whereby the winding ratio N^N 2 can be arbitrary, but must be known. The winding resistance R 2 of the secondary auxiliary winding L 2 is not included in a voltage measurement if this measurement is carried out with high resistance, ie the measuring current is very small, or the voltage U 2 is measured without power; in this case the induced voltage U 2 is equal to the voltage at the coil connections. The advantage of measuring the induced voltage without power is that the temperature-dependent winding resistance R 2 no longer influences the measurement.
In a preferred embodiment, the secondary voltage U 2 is made equal to the primary voltage U 1 by making the number of turns on the primary side N. and on the secondary side N 2 equal. This case can be realized in a simple manner by winding both windings together bifilarly, so that the coupling losses are low and the pure inductance of the coil L . on the primary side is almost equal to the inductance of the coil L 2 on the secondary side.
The measurement of the measuring coil current /, which flows for example through the coil L 1 on the primary side, is preferably carried out by means of a voltage measurement in the manner described above with an ohmic resistor as a current-voltage converter.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the measuring coil forms the inductance of an LC series resonant circuit or LC parallel resonant circuit, which is excited to natural oscillations at its resonance frequency /" in a known oscillator. The advantage of this excitation of the measuring coil of an inductive proximity sensor is the minimal external energy requirement of an oscillator that is operated in its resonance, i.e. the power consumption of an oscillator is at its minimum when excited in resonance.
In a further embodiment of the invention, an inductive proximity switch or proximity initiator is mathematically and circuit-technically linked to digital electronic means so that a binary output signal of the switch or initiator is generated in such a way that the state of the binary output signal only changes when the control flag falls below or exceeds a specified switching distance s Q , depending on the design of the switch. The binary output signal of the inductive proximity switch should therefore indicate whether a control flag is further away from or closer to the active sensor surface of the measuring coil of the proximity switch compared to a specified switching distance s Q.

An analysis of a lossy coil with a winding according to Fig. 1 shows that the phase shift φ ωδ for the materials and frequencies considered for an inductive proximity switch is determined by the wire resistance R 1 of the lossy coil.

Mit der Spule, die als erste Wicklung mit derThe use of a coil with two magnetically coupled windings according to Fig. 2 allows access to the phase φ^ practically without - as shown above - influence of the wire resistances R 1 and R 2 . Die Anschlüsse A und A' beziehungsweise B und B' bezeichnen diejenigen Anschlüsse, die die gleiche Spannungspolarität bei Anlegen einer Wechselspannung besitzen beziehungsweise an denen die Wicklungen im gleichen Wickelsinn angeschlossen sind.is cancelled and the connections A' and B' allow a measurement that is practically unaffected by the wire resistances Rj and R 2. Stranded wire can be used for both windings together or solid enamelled copper wire can be used for both windings separately. The connections A and A' or B and B' refer to those connections that have the same voltage polarity when an alternating voltage is applied or to which the windings are connected in the same winding direction.
In principle, different windings can also be used, in which case the parameters of the secondary side must be converted to the primary side, taking into account the turns ratio and the coupling factor. However, this calculation has no influence on the phase relationship to be evaluated.
To measure the phase <p._, an alternating current source with the current / is connected to the terminals A and B of the coil according to Fig. 3. The voltage U 2 is coupled into the second winding, which can be measured directly at the terminals A' and B' in a powerless, high-impedance voltage measurement with L 2 = 0. If the current / is unknown, the voltage U. = R 1 -I (at /, = 0) present between the terminals A and A' and proportional to the coil current J can be evaluated. If both voltages U and U. are measured without power, or the current / is evaluated directly and the voltage U is measured without power, then the phase is:
&phgr;&ngr;&idiagr; = arctan—— . (14) φ νidiagr; = arctan—— . (14)
This means that neither the amplitude of the excitation current or voltage nor the temperature-dependent wire resistances are included in the measurement.
Dividing the second comparison voltage U yi by the alternating voltage U 1 by means of the second voltage comparator K 2 also results in a pulse train with the pulse repetition frequency /, which is, however, phase-shifted by the phase shift ψ^^ . With the help of a logic t/ND gate UG, which logically combines the output signal from K 1 and the inverted output signal from K 2 , a pulse train F is obtained with the pulse repetition frequency / or the period T = 1/f and the pulse width T 1 Jp, which according to equation 6 is directly proportional to the phase shift <p Woo . With other digital components not shown here, such as a clock generator, counter, gates and flip-flops, the phase angle ϕ τ τ τ or the pulse width T Jn can be measured digitally using known measuring arrangements.
According to Fig. 4, the phase φ^ is almost exactly 90 degrees in the absence of the control vane or when the distance s ·* ® is very large. As the distance s decreases, the phase φ™ also decreases. When using a proximity switch according to the invention, the phase φ^ is compared with a reference value ψ 1 , below which a switching process is triggered. If a stable switching point is to be achieved despite a possibly drifting frequency / of the excitation, the reference phase φ^ must be generated independently of the frequency, e.g. with an all-pass filter. If, however, a stable frequency can be assumed, the reference phase Ip 1 can be generated with a simpler arrangement, e.g. a low-pass filter or a delay element. For example, it is possible to generate the effect of the phase angle ψ 1 using the reference impedance Z, by a phase shift φ λ between the measuring coil current / and the alternating voltage U 1 .
Unter Benutzung der Schwingbedingung eines solchen Parallelschwingkreises folgt dann für die Phase:The quantities R p and L are both dependent on the distance s and material of the control vane, as well as on the frequency / of the excitation. If the frequency / is chosen correctly, a greatly reduced material dependence can be achieved. It is also possible to use the measuring coil as a frequency-determining part of the excitation, e.g. together with a capacitor C in the parallel resonant circuit of an oscillator, in order to reduce the energy requirement. Using the oscillation condition of such a parallel resonant circuit, the phase is then:

Demgegenüber muß bei herkömmlichen induktivenThe most important advantage of the method according to the invention is the high switching speed that can be achieved. The phase difference can be determined at each zero crossing, so for example at a frequency / = 50 kHz a switching process can be triggered approximately every 10 /is. In contrast, with conventional inductive

Dabei entsteht die Zeitkonstante: Proximity sensors that evaluate the amplitude of a parallel resonant circuit, first the energy stored in the resonant circuit is reduced. This creates the time constant:

If, for example, one assumes the numerical values of L = 160 /iH and R = 0.3 Ω of a coil typically used in inductive proximity sensors, the time constant 7 LC is approximately ^ ^ s# *"^ e ^^ the time constant due to the energy in the oscillating circuit is therefore many times greater than the achievable switching time of the proximity switch according to the invention.
Due to the high speed and the purely digital output signal, increased interference suppression can be achieved very easily by evaluating several zero crossings.
Fig. 6 shows an inductive proximity sensor with a measuring coil L . which has an auxiliary coil L- for coupling out the induced measuring coil voltage H 1 = U 2 to be measured. A capacitor C is connected together with the measuring coil L 1 and a resistor R to form the frequency-determining parallel resonant circuit of the oscillator OSZ . The resistor R is used for current-voltage conversion, since the equally usable wire resistance R 1 of the primary side (not shown in the drawing here) often has a value that is too low for reliable evaluation. A reference phase ψ 1 can be generated with an analog all-pass filter Ph 1 as a phase shifter. The signs of the voltage signals thus generated are converted into digital signals using the two analog comparators K 1 and K 2 . The two output signals of the comparators K 1 and K- are evaluated by means of a logic t/iVD gate UG - as described above in the embodiment according to Fig. 5 - and thus a pulse train with the frequency / = l/T is generated.
Die Funktion eines D-Flipflops ist beispielsweise in E. Schrüfer, Elektrische Meßtechnik, 5.An embodiment of a proximity switch according to the invention is shown in Fig. 7. A capacitor C is connected together with the measuring coil L 1 and a resistor R to form the frequency-determining parallel resonant circuit of the oscillator OSZ . The resistor J? is used for current-voltage conversion, since the equally usable wire resistance R 1 of the primary side (not shown in the drawing here) often has a value that is too low for reliable evaluation. The reference phase <p. is generated with an analog all-pass filter Ph, as a phase shifter. The signs of the voltage signals thus generated are converted into digital signals using the two analog comparators K 1 and K 2. The comparator K 1 controls the clock input of the edge-controlled D storage element or D flip-flop D ,. This is used as a digital phase comparator; it stores the state existing at the time of the clock edge, i.e. the sign of the current, until the next clock edge. This state is fed to the output of the switching signal S. The function of a D-flip-flop is described, for example, in E. Schrüfer, Electrical Measurement Technology, 5.

For ease of use, it is desirable that the proximity switch does not switch back and forth continuously when the control flag is exactly at the switching distance. A simple improvement is shown in the exemplary embodiment of an inductive proximity switch with switching hysteresis according to Fig. 8. The additional devices of a second phase shifter Ph 2 , a D flip-flop D 2 and an RS flip-flop RS cause the behavior of a Schmitt trigger. The phase shifter Ph 2 delays the sign signal of the current by a small hysteresis phase ψ 2 . The resulting signal is fed to the flip-flop D 2 , the function of which is identical to the flip-flop D 1 . The state-controlled flip-flop RS causes only states which are outside the hysteresis range defined by Ph 2 to cause a change in the switching signal S.
Instead of the gate UG, either a NAND gate or an OR gate or a NOR gate can be used without changing the function and arrangement of the circuit according to Figures 5 and 6.
When using either an exclusive-OR gate or antivalence gate or an equivalence gate instead of the gate UG in Figures 5 and 6, a pulse train F is produced with twice the frequency 2f or with half the period T/2 = l/2f of the measuring coil alternating current J, in which case the outputs of the two comparators K 1 and K 2 are directly connected to the two inputs of these gates.
Without changing the functions, the two outputs of the comparators K 1 and K 2 can be interchanged in the circuits according to Figures 5 to 8. Likewise, the phase shifter Ph 1 can also be inserted between the reference resistor Z. and the input of the comparator K 2 without changing the basic behavior of the circuits according to Figures 5 to 8.
Furthermore, in Figure 8, the output of comparator K 2 can be connected directly to the D inputs of the two flip-flops D , and D 2 and at the same time the output of comparator K 1 can be connected to the clock input of D flip-flop D 2 and the output of the phase shifter Ph 2 can be connected to the clock input of D flip-flop D 1 without changing the basic behavior of the circuit.
The memory elements or flip-flops shown in the circuits according to Figures 7 and 8 represent only one embodiment of the invention. The D flip-flop is, for example, a clocked RS flip-flop in which the input signal is fed directly to the set input and the inverted input signal to the reset input. Alternatively, transparent or state-controlled D flip-flops can be used. Other versions of digital flip-flops, multivibrators or memory elements can also be used if the functions of the circuits according to the invention shown above are achieved.

Another embodiment of the proximity switch according to the invention is the speed measurement of high-speed shafts and disks as speed sensors. For this purpose, the movement of a cam mounted on a rotating shaft or a slot mounted there is sensed by the fixed speed sensor.
