Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 27. Juli 1913 ab.Patented in the German Empire on July 27, 1913.
The invention aims at observation in cinematographic recording apparatus to enable the image created by the lens while the apparatus is working, so that one is not only able to follow the object to be photographed, but also to correct the focus setting according to the changes. It is based on the principle of the mirror reflex camera, but allows in contrast in addition to the known arrangements with a mirror to be folded down, observation even while the mirror is in motion, yes even during the entire period, during which the bundle of rays coming from the lens not exactly to influence the light-sensitive layer of the recording film, the plate, etc. is needed. As a result, the image to be observed is so bright than just possible.
This advance is essentially made using one known per se Achieved mirror device, which is explained below using an exemplary embodiment shall be.

As with known type of recording cinematograph, the shutter disk, in the drawing a circular disk d with two cutouts cc , rotates around an axis f between objective α and film b (or plate) connected that the light rays thrown from the lens into the interior can only hit the film as long as it stands still, but are covered as long as the film is moved. The plane of rotation of the shutter disk is not parallel to the plane of the film, but inclined to it, expediently at 45 °, and the disk itself is made reflective so that it is in the recording pauses, that is, while the film is covered by it, with those coming from the lens a Rays of light throws the image onto a screen g attached to the side for observation. The focusing screen g is located at the same optical distance from the lens as the light-sensitive layer of the film. Hence the focus adjustment. expediently caused by adjusting the lens.
Bei dem raschen Hintereinanderfolgen dieser einzelnen Phasen wird man, ebenso wie bei der Vorführung kihematographischer Aufnahmen, auf der MattscheibeSo while the recording apparatus is working, the one that is moving jerkily will alternate The film is exposed through the openings of the rotating disk at the moment of its standstill and afterwards when the Film moved, the exposure aperture of the film covered by the rotating disk and the picture thrown sideways onto the screen. With the rapid succession of these individual phases, as with the performance, one becomes more kihematographic Recordings, on the screen
