Abstract

The construction of a thermal insualting and heat retaining plaster, for treating rheumatic conditions, has a structured layer secured to a self-adhesive layer which is applied to the skin at the affected part. The thermal insulating and heat retention layer is a layer of form bonded to the adhesive layer. The structure gives a thin material, which is still effective, but which will not be seen under a garment, and which will not be damaged by the garment fabric. The foam layer pref. has an outer skin on its outer surface. An elastic polyethylene foam is pref. for the foam layer of the material. The adhesive layer is pref. covered by a cladding film to protect it until it is removed for the plaster to be used. The structure, excluding cladding, pref. has a thickness of about 1 mm.
