Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 30. September 1910 ab.Patented in the German Empire on September 30, 1910.
The extraction of pulp from straw, esparto, rags, etc. has so far been done in the way that you first use the raw materials after the soda or sulphate process very strong alkalis made as completely corrosive as possible at a temperature well over 100 ° C. lying temperature, namely at 4.5 to 9 atm. Pressure, for 5 to 12 hours and boiling over it and after washing with strong chlorinated lime solutions and only less Warmth, which must not exceed 35 ° C., bleaches.
The results obtained in this way are, however, not very satisfactory; because you only have one low yield of short-fiber and not firm, therefore inferior pulps, their Prime costs are very high; In addition, such pulps all contain even more or less yellow, rubbery incrustations, which completely resist the chlorine and the Papers made from such pulps have an impure whiteness and poor durability to lend. Even the best bleached pulp, made from white linen and cotton rags produced, these incrustations still contain a considerable amount.
According to the method according to the invention, it is not just these yellow incrustations that can be found remove completely, but also a much higher yield - up to Half and more - and therefore also much longer and stronger and therefore much more valuable Pulp received, which can be bleached completely pure and permanently white and no longer yellow in the papers made from them. Of course you have to the manufacturing cost can also be much lower.
The new process consists in that the raw materials are first sorted according to the soda or sulfate process only a few hours - usually two to four - using the usual or a smaller amount of total alkalis, of which however must consist of at least 25 percent soda, on the other hand with a much larger amount, i.e. correspondingly weaker lye, cooks at a temperature of only about 100 ° C. or a little above. While otherwise If the straw etc. is firmly pounded into the cooker, this is no longer done and measured the amount of length so that the raw material is covered by the lye or after a short while Time is covered, as it quickly assembles itself accordingly more densely. Cook for the specified time in an open kettle or only at low pressure.
This loosens almost all of the incrustations, including most of the yellow, rubbery, while the fiber remains in a completely unsweakened condition, i.e. it is much longer and stronger than usual.
In order to completely remove the remainder of the yellow incrustations, one must then use the pulp Heat as high as possible with small amounts of chlorinated lime solution, whereby you can go up to the boiling point. It will the chlorine is used quickly and completely,
Die so erzielten Halb- oder Zellstoffe haben neben höchster und dauernder Weiße noch den weit größeren Vorzug einer bis dahin unerreich- ■ ten Länge und Festigkeit der Faser.and the last incrustations become soluble or already dissolved; the result is a brownish yellow broth, which is washed out. Then you treat the fabric with about 0.5 to 1 percent Soda in solution, again with strong heating, eliminating the last yellow incrustations be solved; after they have also been washed out, they are bleached again if necessary with a little chlorine lime solution, warm again, done and thus achieved a dazzling one pure and lasting whiteness with complete protection of the fiber. Sufficient for light-colored fabrics one-time bleaching with post-treatment with weak soda solution completely. Other Fabrics are bleached with a third of the usual amount of chlorinated lime solution, after the intermediate treatment with weak soda solution with at most the second Third of the previous amount of chlorinated lime solution ready to be bleached, so that you can at least a third against otherwise saves. The semi-finished or pulps obtained in this way have next highest and permanent whiteness still the far greater advantage of a hitherto unattainable ■ th length and strength of the fiber.
