Description
The invention relates to a method for regenerating an activated carbon impregnated with alkali oxide the removal of organic sulfur compounds from gases by passing them over at a temperature of 30 to 90 ° C in the presence of oxygen and water vapor, with water being used for regeneration.
Such a method is known from DH-AS 10 87 580, but it has the disadvantage that the deposits not present as sulfate are only very incompletely removed during water washing. A further disadvantage of the known method is that a certain adsorptive binding of, for example, carbon disulfide cannot be prevented, which is also not detached during washing with water and breaks through so for 1 when the activated carbon is loaded again due to its vapor pressure.
The object of the invention is to regenerate the loaded activated carbon in an effective manner and one for the Wastewater treatment to generate unproblematic process. In the case of the method mentioned at the beginning, this is the case achieved by washing the activated carbon with a strongly alkaline solution after washing with water is oxidized, the draining solution and used again for washing and the process of water washing is discarded. This can first of all be harmless from the point of view of environmental protection or easily rendered harmless and therefore discardable water-soluble deposits, such as sodium sulfate and sodium carbonate. Only the proportions of the regeneration solution that contain harmful components, such as Thiocarbonate, thiosulphate, sulphide and polysulphide should then be sent to the oxidation stage.
A preferred embodiment of the invention consists in that the activated carbon after washing with water with oxidized alkaline solution and finally washes with fresh alkaline solution and both drains of the Laundry regenerated separately with an alkaline solution.
The loaded activated carbon can be regenerated in the respective reactors themselves. However, it can can also be worked with a moving bed, in which case the regenerative treatment outside the reactor is carried out in separate devices. To adjust the alkalinity of the washing solution are all inorganic substances with a sufficiently strong alkaline reaction can be used. Will be most expedient Alkali hydroxide used. The concentration should be around 30 to 80g / l (calculated as NaOH).
The oxidation for the purpose of converting low-value sulfur compounds into the hexavalent stage can be carried out with any oxidizing agents with a sufficiently high oxidation potential take place. The most economical and According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the simplest form consists in the oxidation with oxygen-containing gas or oxygen itself. It is particularly advantageous here to use elevated temperatures and elevated temperatures Apply pressure. The temperature should be above 100 ° C, a pressure between 4 and 11 bar sufficient. The pressure treatment can be carried out discontinuously in the autoclave. One with random packings However, exposed pressure washing column also allows continuous regeneration.
Particularly suitable activated carbons are those which have a BET surface area of more than 1000 m 2 / g activated carbon. Impregnation resulting in 0.6-1.3 mol of alkali oxide / kg of activated carbon is particularly advantageous for these.
In the laboratory scale, the work was carried out as follows: The reactor consisted of a vertical reaction tube filled with activated carbon with a diameter of 35 mm, corresponding to a cross section of 9.6 cm 2 . In order to be able to set the desired reaction temperature, the reactor was jacketed and heated with water. The reactor had a gas inlet at the lower end and a gas outlet at the upper end. For regeneration, two further connections were made for the liquid feed at the upper end and for the liquid withdrawal at the lower end.
An autoclave with a usable capacity of 1.51 was used to oxidize the alkaline solution Stirrer was equipped for simultaneous gas distribution in the liquid.
The reactor was filled with 960 ml of activated carbon (molded carbon 4 mm, extruded, BET surface area 1200 m 2 / g, NaOH impregnation 4% by weight) with a layer height of 100 cm.
Die Bedingungen hierfür waren folgende:Initially, the loading with air containing CS 2 took place until the activated carbon filling was exhausted and a clear increase in the CS 2 concentration was recorded in the escaping gas. The conditions for this were as follows:
CS2-KonzentrationinderBeladeluft: ca. 100-150mg/m3 Reaktionstemperatur: 50°CCS 2 concentration in the loading air: approx. 100-150mg / m 3 reaction temperature: 50 ° C
relative Feuchte des Gases: 26%relative humidity of the gas: 26%
Verweilzeit des Gases im Reaktor: 3see (bezogen auf freien Querschnitt)Residence time of the gas in the reactor: 3see (based on free cross-section)
This corresponded to a throughput of 11501 Air / 1 activated charcoal and hour. The table below shows the results of the first loading.

At a concentration of 3 mg CS / m 3 in the exiting gas, the loading process was ended and the activated carbon was regenerated by washing it four times. The first wash was carried out with pure water, the second to fourth wash with sodium hydroxide solution with a concentration of 60 g / l. At also 50 ° C., the reactor was filled with 400 ml of detergent each time, left to stand for one hour and then emptied. The first wash with pure water contained mainly sodium carbonate and some sodium sulfate. It was rejected. The processes of the second to fourth wash, which in addition to sodium hydroxide contained some sodium sulfate, mainly thiocarbonate, thiosulfate, sulfide and polysulfide (3.2 g in total, calculated as CS 2 ), were combined for oxidation. A proportion of sulfur compounds that was not quantitatively determined remained as a residual charge on the activated carbon.
Danach waren sämtliche Schwefelverbindungen in Natriumsulfat (12g Na2SO4) umgewandelt. A total of 50 liters of air were passed through the combined processes 2 to 4 in the autoclave at a temperature of 120 ° C. under an air pressure of 7 bar for three hours. After that, all sulfur compounds were converted into sodium sulfate (12g Na 2 SO 4 ). To compensate for the NaOH loss caused by the formation of sodium carbonate and sodium sulfate, 14.5 g of fresh NaOH were added to the solution, so that the original concentration of 60 g / l lye was reached again. The lye regenerated in this way was used again for washing in the next experiment.
Bei der fünften Beladung wurden folgende Ergebnisse erzielt:Under the conditions described, the loading and regeneration of the activated carbon was carried out four more times repeated. The following results were achieved with the fifth load:
3030th
Repeated use of the caustic soda to regenerate the activated carbon accumulates in it Leach the sodium sulfate. Up to five attempts the concentration of sodium sulfate was not yet the permissible Crossed the border. In continuous operation, however, care must be taken to remove the sodium sulphate will. This can e.g. B. be done by discharging part of the liquor used. It is also useful in continuous operation after washing with water first a wash with a high sulphate lye and only then wash with a relatively fresh lye.
