Polyurethane technology is well developed and a number of them have emerged within this basic technology interesting products / such as liquid, pourable prepolymers for elastomers and plastic plastics, thermoplastics, Foams, coatings, adhesives and the like. One of the economically more successful products from this is the Class of low molecular weight polymers with terminal isocyanate groups, known as so-called prepolymers. These prepolymers can be combined with diols or diamines harden or chain extend, the latter being quite economic in manufacturing of polyurethane elastomers. The best diamines are aromatic diamines, and these include 4,4'-methylenebis (2-chloranlinine), known as MOCA, methylenedianiline, dichlorobenzidine, and the like.
The cured products range from soft elastomers to hard plastic-like materials, depending on the one Molecular weight of the polyol, the particular isocyanate used and stoichiometry. The diamine hardeners normally available and commonly used are solid in proportion high-melting, fast-reacting hardener.
Because the diamine hardener has a relatively high melting point Are solids, they must be used either in the molten state or in solution. The former method results in extremely fast, difficult to control responses and very difficult dosage requirements in spray coating application, and in the latter method one has to dilute in addition to the difficulty already mentioned above when measuring large volumes

Liquid aliphatic diamines even have an even faster response speed, and, moreover, one does not obtain the properties desired for the cured product with them,
The aim of the invention is therefore to create new liquid or low-melting polymeric polyamines which can be used effortlessly to cure polyurethane prepolymers without the need for solvents, and with which one obtains formulations with good physical properties. Furthermore, according to the invention, a method for the production of such polymeric polyamines.
During the production of the polyamines, the conversion of the Isocyanate groups are practically quantitative, with one Molecular weight increase through chain extension should be to a minimum. This is achieved by the hydrolysis using a concentrated non-oxidizing organic or inorganic acid, such as concentrated sulfuric acid, glacial acetic acid, chloroacetic acid or similar. Concentrated sulfuric acid is preferred. The proceedings essentially cease Two-stage process is that in a reaction of the terminal isocyanate prepolymer with at least a stoichiometric amount of a concentrated non-oxidizing organic or inorganic Acid with the formation of a complex and a subsequent simultaneous neutralization of the acid and a

Hydrolysis of the complex with an aqueous base to form the amine consists. The acid can be rough seen to be any organic or inorganic acid capable of forming a complex with the prepolymer is, namely a complex, which can then be hydrolyzed with aqueous base to form an amine. In a similar way The base can also be any organic or inorganic base with which the acid reacts Can hydrolyze complex formed to an amine, and these include, for example, sodium hydroxide, sodium bicarbonate or pyridine.
The above procedure allows the isocyanate groups to be fully complexed prior to hydrolysis, so that there is none Chain lengthening occurs through the random production of amino end groups, as occurs with alkaline hydrolysis would be the case. Lower amounts of monomeric diisocyanate that may be present in the polyurethane prepolymer are similarly converted to amines, and these are either precipitated or as a by-product of the polymeric polyamines dragged along. The hydrolysis can also be carried out without a solvent, because of the simpler ones Handling, however, the reaction is preferably carried out in an inert solvent, such as methyl ethyl ketone, Tetrahydrofuran and the like. The corresponding procedure is described in Example 1.
According to the invention, any polyurethane prepolymer with terminal isocyanate groups can be converted into a polymeric polyamine hydrolyze. Although the prepolymers are preferably difunctional, they can be used to produce the polymeric polyamines however, any polyfunctional parts are just as likely Use prepolymers.

Among the prepolymers most frequently used according to the invention include those that are made by known processes by making a polyol, usually a polymeric diol, having a molecular weight of about 200 to 5000, preferably 500 to 3000, with a stoichiometric excess of an organic aromatic diisocyanate, such as 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate, 2,6-tolylene diisocyanate or isomeric mixtures thereof, methylenebis (4-phenyl isocyanate), 3,3'-dimethyl-4,4'-diisocyanatodiphenyl and the like, implemented with each other. Suitable polymeric diols are for example polyesters, such as condensation products from an aliphatic diol, including ethylene glycol, 1,2- and 1,3-propanediol, 1,4-butanediol, 1,5-pentanediol, 1,6-hexanediol, cyclohexanedimethanol and the like, with an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, including Succinic acid, glutaric acid, malonic acid, maleic acid, adipic acid, sebacic acid, suberic acid and the like. Further This subheading includes polyethers, including copolyethers, the condensation products of lower alkylene oxides are such as ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, butylene oxide, tetrahydrofuran and the like, and the following general Have formula:
HO-HO-
R-O- R-OHR-O-R-OH
Schließlich gehören zu derartigen Präpolymeren auch Polyformale, die Kondensationsprodukte eines alpha-omega-Glycols und eines Formaldehyds der Formel:wherein R is alkylene having 2 to 8 carbon atoms and η is an integer sufficient to provide a molecular weight of about 2,000 to 5,000. A preferred one This type of compound is polypropylene glycol. Finally, such prepolymers also include polyformals that Condensation products of an alpha-omega glycol and a Formaldehyde of the formula:

-R-O-CH2-O--RO-CH 2 -O-
-ROH-RAW
Eine bevorzugte Verbindung dieser Art ist Poly-1,6-hexanformai.are, in which R and η have the meanings given in the definition of the polyethers. A preferred connection of this type is poly-1,6-hexanoformai.
In addition to their suitability as hardeners for polyurethane prepolymers, the polymeric polyamines according to the invention can also be used use as hardeners for epoxy polymers, or they can be chain-extended themselves with hardeners that contain amines, such as diisocyanate, diepoxides, organic dicarboxylic acids or organic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides, react.
Some of the polyamines according to the invention are liquid at normal room temperature and can be used as such liquid polyurethane prepolymers are implemented. In practice, however, it may occasionally be desirable to use a or to dilute both reactants with an inert organic solvent, especially for spray coating applications. The use of solvents then usually serves the purpose of making the whole thing easier To make dimension flowable. Only smaller concentrations of solvent are usually required for these purposes.
