Description
Device for measuring processability and compressibility fresher Concrete mass iind methods of using the device.
The invention relates to determining processability a freshly prepared concrete mix.
In particular, the invention relates to a device for measuring the Processability of fresh concrete mixes and also a method for such Mix using this device.
Processability is one of the physical properties of Concrete especially the strength and durability but also the workload and affects the appearance of the finished product. The term "processability" has already been used repeatedly in concrete technology and literature, in the assumption that the meaning of this word is easy to understand. But if you can To give a definition, it is difficult to say exactly what that word means.
It is said that concrete is "workable" if it is easy to put on To be put in place and compacted homogeneously, i.e. without segregation. w unprocessable " Concrete takes more work or energy to compact in place, and it does it is also likely that some defects will be visible in the finished products are, for example, "swell nests" or pockets. The term "processability" can be defined as the property of the fresh concrete mass determined by the amount the usual interior finishing required to make the concrete condensing without segregation of the end product.
There are countless factors that affect processing, including the amount of water in the mixture, the amount of cement and its properties, the gradation, i.e. the size distribution, texture of the accumulated particles, i.e. the shape, the Surface texture, porosity, etc.), the temperature of the concrete mix and the Humidity of the environment. Much research has been done to determine it the effects of these variables on processability have been discussed.
A large number of devices for measuring some properties has been developed based on the Workability has an impact can have, especially since it is difficult to self-test for processability to develop. The more important of these tests are the following: the settling test, the flow test, the penetration test, the drop test, the composite test, the deformation test and the compaction attempt.
Diese Versuche sind in Powers Pc'; zusammengefabt, siehe "Studien der Verarbeitbarkeit von Beton", ACI Journal Proceedings, Band 28, Nr. 6, Februar 1932, Seite 419 - 530 und Kelly J.W. und Polivka, Miles: "Kugeltest für die Außenkontrolle der Beton-Zusammensetzung", ACI Journal, Proceedings, Band 51, Nr.9, Mai 1O55, Seite 881-888.Most of these tests are not. has been used a lot, though some of you are used in one or more countries. the currently the most common methods are the settling test and the compaction test. These attempts are in Powers Pc '; summarized, see "Studies of Workability von Beton ", ACI Journal Proceedings, Volume 28, No. 6, February 1932, pages 419-530 and Kelly J.W. and Polivka, Miles: "Ball test for external control of concrete composition", ACI Journal, Proceedings, Volume 51, Number 9, May 1055, pages 881-888.
Although originally designed to measure processability has been, the setting test has long had its meaning as such for most Authors lost and is now used solely as a practical control ur Maintaining a certain level About indifference Concrete is also considered to be the excessive use of water in the mix this can be prevented. There are two reasons why the setting sample is not considered to be Degree of processability can serve. Most importantly, there is no obvious relationship between this test and the processability as defined above. Second, the same experimental values can be mixed with different processabilities represent. That can easily be proven by looking at the water content of a test mix to obtain a set sample that is equal to one Mixture is, in fact, the workability but far from being the same to be. I'm another disadvantage of this.
Setzprobe consists in that when they are at exactly similar mixtures is applied, the results are very far apart as a result of the procedure itself can give, and there can also be personal factors in the implementation play a role in the process. In general there are three specific types of settling samples, as research has shown. The first type can determine the true setting and consists of a generally uniform depression.
The second type, namely shear subsidence, then exists if one half of a cone shears off on an inclined plane, while the other half performs a real dip. The third type finally exists when the Concrete cone collapses. Show the true and the collapsed subsidence no difficulty in measurement, the former being different in the case of dry or enriched mixtures, while the latter adjusts itself to lean ones and adjusts stone mixtures. The normal mixture here tends to a combination of the forms of true and sheared deposition, or the coincident settlements depend on the degree of moisture. At the shear settlement there are at least two possible assessments of the settlement, namely the minimal subsidence and the maximum drawdown, and in general the amount of drawdowns at this Kind of arbitrary and is removed in the middle. In addition, they recommend most authors suggest that the experiment should be repeated if the shear settlement occurs is steady. Dry mixes with a stiff consistency now show settlement, and therefore, there is no determination of the processability in a small range of such mixtures are possible. Enriched mixtures, on the other hand, behave satisfactorily, whereby the setting is of the true kind mentioned, and the sensitivity to change concerns such factors that affect processability.
Lean mixtures show the tendency to carry out the shear settlement, if the proportion of mixed water is increased. Despite the limitations, the Settling sample is useful for controlling the water content of a mixture. But the reliability is lowest in the case of lean mixtures, for which the importance control is the greatest right now. Therefore, the settling sample only measures the consistency a certain mix, and the measurement cannot be used to compare different ones Mixtures serve, they are by no means considered a uniform measure of processability or compaction of the fresh concrete, and overall the experiment is expensive and highly dependent on personal factors of the operating personnel.
The compaction factor test is based on the concept of a certain Concrete mix with a certain usual work to create and measurement the degree of compression means in particular the determination of the relative density doo in a form after the concrete from a standart height from 'ion this form dropped became. The relative density is determined by the ratio of the coarse weight the filled form to the weight resulting from the composition of the mixture without tuft inclusions would be opened. In contrast to the test, the changes are the workability of dry concrete is easy due to the compaction factor fixed, i.e. this test is more sensitive in the range of the lower Processability. But the compression factor test does not show the effect of segregation in the concrete.
The present invention is therefore based on the object of a Device for measuring the workability of freshly prepared concrete mass create that these disadvantages of the aforementioned settling test and the compaction test does not have.
In particular, a measurement should be created for a specific concrete mix be that in a special way a relation to the processability of the fresh having prepared concrete mix. In addition, the invention is intended to provide a Apparatus can be created that is easy to manufacture at low cost is and no continuous calibration is required, it should also be easy to use Be extremely easy with very little practice both outdoors and in the lab. In particular the device according to the invention should take advantage of the influence of cohesion and Adhesion to the compaction and the segregation of fresh concrete mass can be used do. din non-homogeneous material such as a freshly mixed concrete mix can hardly be completely compacted without sufficient cohesion and adhesion between the particles in order to bring them into a very dense state. Although the factors influencing compaction are not easy to analyze, it is well known that the 1; isser is an important factor in influencing it the behavior of fine-grained material. When water is added to the cement and the mixture is formed, very fine particles absorb a film of water, and cohesive and adhesive forces also play a role.
As more water is added, these films become thicker and allow the particles to slide over each other more easily. This process is often called "lubrication" called and helps with compaction the total amount of particles. It should also be noted that the thickness of the water film is based on a coarse particle is small compared to the particle diameter, and therefore these effects are negligible. If more water is added, the cohesion and the adhesive forces of the mixture decrease and segregation follows. Therefore creates an optimum of the mixed water with a certain mixture a maximum Compression and minimal segregation. The device according to the invention is designed to measure the physical amount that contributes to cohesion and adhesion the mixture is in a proportion, and the same amount is also in relation to the workability of the mixture.
The solution to this problem by the invention is that a device for determining the workability of freshly prepared concrete mass created: which initially shows a pipe with a central hole to which a plate is attached which is substantially transverse to the pipe to the To limit the depth to which the pipe can be inserted into the mixture, being at least one opening is arranged in the form of a slot, the one in the longitudinal direction of the tube from the end that is remote from the plate extends through which opening the mixture can enter the bore when the device is introduced into the mixture, and wherein a display device is assigned to the pipe to determine the remaining height that the existing Has mixture in the bore of the pipe when the pipe is pulled out of the mixture will.
In addition, there is also a method for determining processability the freshly prepared concrete mass provided by the invention, which consists in that the device mentioned first in the freshly prepared concrete mass up is introduced to the mentioned plate, whereupon the device aus'der mix pulled out and determined the remaining height of the mixture in the bore of the pipe will. This remaining height of the mixture in the bore of the pipe, i.e. after removing the device from the mixture creates a reading which is related to the workability of the concrete mix, and therefore is Me workability an index for the specific concrete mix.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the liohr several slotted openings, each of which is opposite to that of the plate End of the tube goes out, and in a typical embodiment the tube shows 4 such slotted openings which are offset by 90 ° on the circumference of the tube.
Although it is within the scope of the general inventive concept This slotted openings is located, this may be substantially completely in: extend the length of the pipe up to the plate, it should be noted that it has been found that these slots weaken the pipe significantly and reduce the possibility of use. According to a preferred embodiment According to the invention, the slotted openings therefore only partially extend over the ear, and the tube points between the ends of the slotted openings and the Plate at least one row of several small openings on the circumference of the pipe are arranged through which the concrete mix can get into the bore and can also be removed again when this device is inserted into the concrete mass will. At a shows preferred embodiment of the invention The tube also has several rows of small openings that are longitudinally spaced are arranged to each other. Each ring preferably has 8 such openings, which are offset from one another at an angle of 450.
The device according to the invention is preferably with a handle equipped and this handle has been created by the fact that the pipe extends beyond said plate, i.e. the plate is between the ends of the pipe arranged. In addition, the end is remote from the plate of the pipe provided with a fixed conical head part to facilitate the insertion of the pipe into the concrete mass to facilitate.
Further advantages and details of the invention emerge from the now the following description of an embodiment with reference to the drawing. 1 shows a partially sectioned side view of the device to determine the workability, the consistency and the compressibility of a freshly prepared concrete mix according to a preferred embodiment the invention; Fig. 2 is a section along the line A-A in Fig. 1; 3 shows a section along the line B-B in Fig. 1 and Figs. 4-6 are graphs of the processability index depending on the water-cement ratio of the concrete mass, which is achieved by means of a Device according to FIGS. 1-3 was determined.
Use is described below.
For this purpose, the device is in the freshly prepared concrete mix inserted up to the disk 6.
The concrete mix and the device can be arranged in any way according to the invention can be used both in the laboratory and on the construction site.
It can be in a standard printing cylinder or in an ordinary one Container or a mobile container or in structural components of the building, furthermore in beams, Piles or walls are introduced before settling has occurred. The mixture penetrates into the bore 2, and after a suitable lapse of time of approx. 15 seconds to 5 minutes the device is removed and the remaining amount of the mixture measured in hole 2 by index 9. It turned out that the reading generally of the residence time of the device in the concrete mix is dependent on a wide range of mixing ratios. As a result, the Reading in direct relation to the workability, the consistency and the Compaction of the concrete mix and therefore it is a workability index. The reading can also be used to determine the compression of the concrete to determine after this has been filled, and it can also be the expected one Strength of the hardened concrete can be predicted if enough tests are made regarding it this mixture have been carried out.

So paäsieren. But the curves and the tables also show that the workability with the water-cement portion increases up to a certain point, then the fall begins, indicating a possible use of segregation. Therefore is there an optimal water content for any particular method of compaction the mixture, in which the sum of the volumes of the air bubbles and the water space is a minimum '. With this optimal water content, the concrete has the highest density achieved. It is believed that the loss of processability for the very wet mixes primarily on the segregation, xas mentioned above, and, moreover, on the waste of cohesion and adhesion of the material. It can also be clarified that the highest workability reading the mixture with the lowest aggregate / cement content for the same grain size is equivalent to. Thus, the workability of the mixture depends significantly on the quantity of the fine particles that pass the sieve no. So. These fine particles consist of cement particles and a proportion of sand in the mixture . Both materials, when mixed with water, make the main ones Cobasion and adhesion elements in the mix.
It is also clear that the grain size of the aggregate, the Affects the workability of the cement mixture. If the grain size is fine, there will be more water needed to moisten the surface to get the same workability. The results show that for a given aggregate / cement ratio, the Optimum workability within any mixture less water means when the grain is coarser. Therefore, in Fig. 5, for example, has the coarser grain their optimal machinability at a water-cement ratio of about o.77, while the fine grain an optimum of workability with a water / cement ratio of o.8. In the case of the medium gradation, the machinability is roughly seen eta average. It can also be seen that the finer grain is less easily loses its workability at high lgasser cement ratios because the coarse-grained aggregate begins to separate itself and with one relatively low water-cement ratio loses the workability.
Therefore, it is clear that the workability does not always increase with one the water content of the mixture drops.
After an optimum of the water content has been reached, processability begins to fall again with the further addition of water. Undoubtedly, this makes the addition of water the pouring of the concrete and the compaction easier, but here arise some inclusions and a loss of cohesion and adhesion. when segregation takes place, A certain additional amount of work should be done for theoretical reasons to bring the concrete back to a homogeneous state again - and booze this results in the loss in processability due to the addition of water.
It is known practice in the art to use any concrete mix with a drop of 5.08 '- 5.7o cm (-5 ") as workable and therefore satisfactory to watch. It is thus clear that the device according to the invention is simple and easy test allows to determine the workability of concrete and especially to take into account the two factors compression and segregation, which have an influence on the workability of the concrete.
