Bei Versuchen über die Einwirkung vonWhen trying on the action of
(Vgl. K ο 11 e und Wassermann, Handbuch der pathogenen Mikroorganismen 1904, Band IV1, S. 206, Absatz 2, und S. 195, Absatz 2, und die daselbst angezogene Literatur.)Metals on bacteria have so far only been found to have disinfectant and growth-inhibiting effects. (Cf. K o 11 e and Wassermann, Handbuch der Pathogene Mikroorganismen 1904, Volume IV 1 , p. 206, paragraph 2, and p. 195, paragraph 2, and the literature cited there.)
It has now been found that the action of metals on bacterial cultures can also obtain substances suitable for vaccination purposes. This fact is all the more striking as it is known that when using metal salts the liquids obtained are due to Not suitable for vaccinations due to the toxic effects on human and animal organisms are. It was therefore by no means certain, that bacterial cultures exposed to the action exposed to metals, immunizing or healing fluids would be able to get. In fact, it has also been shown that readily usable Vaccines cannot be obtained in this way. Bacillus suisepticus culture fluids and suipestifer, anthrax and cholera were loaded with bits of metal, which after 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 24 and 36 hours were removed again by filtration. Injected from the fluids obtained in this way subcutaneously and intraperitoneally diseased animals with the If the respective bacterial species were inoculated, quantities of 0.2 to 2 ecm, the bacterial fluids were able to do so not to save the animals and also not to immunize unvaccinated animals.
The present method for obtaining vaccines is now based on the new observation, in contrast to what is known, 40

Ob die Einwirkung genügend lange erfolgt ist, wird durch Immunisierungsversuche an Versuchstieren, die sonst gegen die Bakterienart empfänglich sind, festgestellt.that metals at temperatures between 22 ° and 40 ° in bacterial cultures at corresponding Long exposure time to provide vaccines with healing and immunizing effects. The impact is best done with the most favorable for the development of the bacterial species Temperature, the duration of the action of the metals depending on the type of bacteria used and the metals used. After reaching the maximum effect, the comparison tests is determined, a weakening occurs with further exposure to the metals, which can go to ineffectiveness. Whether the exposure has lasted long enough is determined by immunization tests on test animals that are otherwise against the Bacterial species are susceptible.
Of the metals, heavy metals have generally proven to be suitable. One uses preferably metals whose soluble compounds affect the organism for which the Liquids are intended to be non-toxic, or at least to be minimally toxic.
The procedure is general on bacterial culture liquids and bacteria trituration can be used. It is special for extraction suitable for vaccines from bacteria belonging to the group of hemorrhagic septicemia.
The metals can be used in pieces, chips, chips or in powder form.
In the following, the new method may be used, for example, for obtaining a medicinal or Protective substance against swine disease or swine fever are described.
To combat swine disease and swine fever, some have been killed repeatedly up to now Swine disease and swine fever

kulturen verwendet. However, little or no success has been achieved. Against it succeeded by means of the method forming the subject of the invention, namely due to the action of zinc on broth cultures of highly virulent pig disease and swine fever bacteria to produce a vaccine that is injected subcutaneously from 5 to 25 ecm (depending on the size of the animals) pigs infected with the disease, have been healed. The product can also be used for vaccinations.
Zur Gewinnung des Impfstoffes kann man. folgendermaßen verfahren:To obtain the vaccine one can. proceed as follows:
Kaninchen und Meerschweinchen durchweg zufriedenstellende Ergebnisse erzielt.500 ecm nutrient broth are inoculated with virulent pig disease or swine fever culture and the culture is allowed to grow at 25 ° for two days.
The swine disease or swine fever broth culture is then mixed with 7.5 g of coarsely cut, chemically pure zinc, which has previously been subjected to dry sterilization for about 15 minutes, returned to the incubator at 22 ° and left there for 15 hours. During this time the culture must be shaken frequently. This is followed by additions of 25 g glycerine purissim. and 2 g of acid, carbol. pure. The liquid is now allowed to settle somewhat and filtered. With the filtrate, 123 tests on rabbits and guinea pigs gave consistently satisfactory results.
The temperature of exposure and the choice of the most appropriate metals depend on the bacteria in question. For example, it has been found that at. Cholera zinc and copper at 32 °, with typhus zinc at 30 °, copper at °, silver between 35 and 40 ° the best effect result.
The proportions also vary. In general one uses of the metals Zinc and copper 7.5 g, tin 10 g and silver 5.5 g per 500 g bacterial culture fluid. But smaller or larger quantities can also be used.
