Description
It is known to separate aromatic hydrocarbons from a feed mixture containing aromatic and non-aromatic hydrocarbons by extractive distillation and to use a tetramethylene sulfone or butadiene sulfone solvent in this extractive distillation is, the raffinate stream is washed in a washing zone with water, while that from the solvent! and the extract stream containing the aromatic hydrocarbons dissolved therein and withdrawn from the extractive distillation column is fractionated, the water separated off in the process being recycled for washing the raffinate stream. Such methods are described in U.S. Patents 3338823, 3338824 and 3308059. In these three known processes, however, the extractive distillation column is not included in the water cycle, so that only feed mixture and solvent enter this extractive distillation column. The efii-kt of this is. that only an insufficient separation of the aromatic hydrocarbons from the non-aromatic hydrocarbons takes place or, in order to improve this separation, an increased expenditure on equipment has to be made.
The object on which the invention is based is to obtain the most extensive possible separation of the aromatic hydrocarbons from the non-aromatic hydrocarbons with the simplest possible apparatus and to recover the solvent as much as possible.
The inventive method for the extractive separation of aromatic hydrocarbons from a Feed mixture containing aromatic and non-aromatic hydrocarbons through Introduction of the feed mixture at a middle point and a depleted tetramethylene sulfone or butadiene sulfone solvent in the top of an extractive distillation column.

Typischerweise enthalten die Beschickungsgemische aus katalytischen Reformierverfahren einringige aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Benzol, Toluol und Xylolen, im Gemisch mit den entsprechenden Paraffinen und Naphthenen.4.5 Feed mixes are those that have been freed from butane Reactor outlet of conventional catalytic reforming plants or liquid, with hydrogen under olefin and diolefin saturation treated by-products from pyrolysis plants. Typically the contain Feed mixtures from catalytic reforming processes single-ring aromatic hydrocarbons, such as benzene, toluene and xylenes, in a mixture with the corresponding paraffins and naphthenes.
Examples of solvents which can be used in the process according to the invention are tetramethylene sulfone or butadiene sulfone itself and on at least one of the carbon atoms by alkyl groups with 1 to 10 carbon atoms, alkoxy groups with 1 to 8 carbon atoms or arylalkyl groups with 1 to Tetramethylene sulfones substituted with 12 carbon atoms, such as 2-methyl- or 2,4-dimethyl-tetramethylene sulfone.
The aromatic selectivity of these solvents is increased by the addition of water in the extractive Improved distillation column. Part of the extracted extract phase is returned to the extractive distillation column 11 via line 14 and the reboiler 15 / u The enriched solvent in line 13 reaches the one used to extract aromatics Column 27 at an intermediate point thereof. This column separates the aromatic hydrocarbons from the solvent phase. The aromatic hydrocarbons are called distillate fraclins removed from column 27 in vapor form in a mixture with water vapor via partition 28
The column 27 preferably operates with steam stripping to remove the remaining traces of aromatic hydrocarbons from the solvent / u. The bottom product of column 27 contains the solvent and a small amount of water. Part of the bottom product is returned to column 27 via line 37 and reboiler 38. The remainder of the depleted solvent in line 12 is introduced into the steam generator 35. The steam is withdrawn from the steam generator 35 via line 36 and introduced into the lower end of the column 27 as a stripping stream. Additional steam may be introduced into the system via line 40 from an external source if necessary. The cooled depleted solvent is withdrawn from the Dainpfgeiierator 35 via line 1.2, mixed with the depleted solvent from line 39, introduced through the 1 heat exchanger 26 and into the upper section of the extractive distillation column 11 in the manner indicated above. A stream of 5 to 10% of the total solvent inventory can, if desired, be conducted from line 12 to a solvent purification system with a flash or vacuum column, shown in the drawing, in order to remove decomposition products and / or impurities from the solvent.
ij sungsmittel zu entfernen Nach dieser Reinigung kann das Losungsmittel zu dem System zurückgeführt werden, vorzugsweise über die Leitung 39.ij solvent to remove after this cleaning can the solvent can be returned to the system, preferably via line 39.
