Description
The invention relates to a tool that is powder metallurgically produced by pressing and subsequent sintering is made.
In many areas of technology there is a need for molded parts with the highest possible strength high temperatures. Such areas are e.g. B. aerospace, gas turbine construction, hot forming of heavy metals. For mechanically stressed parts at temperatures above 650 ° C Numerous cast alloys and forgeable alloys developed, mostly nickel as the base metal or contain cobalt.
Another known method for the production of molded parts with high heat resistance and high Hot hardness is based on metal powders to which high-melting oxides are often added. The powder or mixtures are pressed into porous moldings and either at high temperature if possible densely sintered or by hot pressing or extrusion deformed and compressed. In any case, the highest possible density is aimed for. The non-metallic ones Particles and, if possible, the metal powder should be very fine in order to be finely dispersed to achieve a largely even distribution of the inclusions, which according to previous knowledge the results in the best strength values.
It is also known to initially use a skeleton made of thin metal fibers (preferably less than 0.1 mm thick) chrome-plated through a chrome diffusion treatment and later with a ceramic slip, i.e. to soak with an aqueous solid suspension (German patent specification 1227 663). The procedure is very expensive because of the diffusion and drying times and requires relatively strong porosity Skeletal body to allow deep penetration of the solids and removal of those in the ceramic slurry to allow contained water. A higher compression can only be achieved through a sintering process of the Ceramic portion take place, the metallic portion is already liquid.
So ist dik Tränkung pröser Metallskelette mit einem flüssigeijiThe tool produced according to the invention differs significantly from that according to the known ones Impregnation process produced moldings. That's dik Impregnation of large metal skeletons with a liquid egg
Metall, ζ. B. Kupfer, bekannt. Dabei entstehen jedoch zwei metallische Netzwerke. B. copper, known. In doing so, however, arise two metallic networks. Also the impregnation of metallic skeletons with fat, oil and with aqueous solutions has already been proposed. The molded bodies produced in this way are similar to those according to the invention manufactured tools in no way comparable).
An own development, e.g. B. for the production of hot working tools, is based on materials) that are much cheaper than the known alloys based on nickel and cobalt, and led to the result that, for example, porous extrusion dies with high nitrogen contents (> 1%) made of chromium-containing steel powders The extrusion of steel pipes achieved longer service lives and better pipe surfaces than the previously best, pore-free steel matrices produced by melt metallurgy that are commonly used in these extrusion presses. However, further experiments under different pressing conditions showed that in many cases in addition to good heat resistance at temperatures over 650 0 C, the strength in the lower temperature range is on the durability of the die to the room temperature of substantial influence.
The inventive method is based on the task of creating tools that have a high hardness, and therefore also a high wear resistance - have both at temperatures above 650 ° C and below 65O 0 C. The materials known to date have only imperfectly these properties. Tool steels and the martensite-hardening steels that are increasingly used today have a high hardness in the temperature range up to around 550 ° C, which, however, drops sharply at higher temperatures. Above 550 ° C., the mostly austenitic special alloys based on nickel or cobalt are used almost exclusively.
B. Härte, Festigkeit, Verschleißwiderstand—werden durch die stofflichen Zusammensetzungen, die Mengen und die Form der Verteilung der Anteile bestimmtAccording to the invention, tools for deforming metals at higher temperatures are formed in the form of a press or rolling mandrel or an extrusion die from a porous skeletal body made of a heat-resistant metal alloy with a continuous pore network, the pore volume of which is less than 50% and that with a non-metallic inorganic material is completely filled, which is essentially non-deformable at temperatures below 650 0 C with high hardness. The properties of the skeletal body, which are predominantly determined by the non-metallic component in the lower temperature range and predominantly by the metallic component in the upper temperature range - z. B. hardness, strength, wear resistance - are determined by the material composition, the amounts and the form of distribution of the proportions
The tool for deforming metals at higher temperatures in the form of a pressing or rolling mandrel or an extrusion die can be formed from a porous skeletal body made of a heat-resistant metal alloy with a continuous pore network, the pore volume of which is less than 50% and that with one not metallic organic material, which is non-deformable at temperatures below 650 0 C with high hardness, is filled in such a way that only the zones of the tool that come into contact with the material to be processed are soaked to a depth of about 5 to 10 mm, while the remainder of the tool has a relative density of 90% and above.
Das Porenvolumen beträgt vorzugsweise 20 bis 30%.The pore volume is preferably 20 to 30%.

For example, the metal alloy of small particles of any shape 5 z. Sie beträgt vorzugsweise 60 bis 85%.The production of the skeletal body takes place in a known manner. The metal particles are mostly in poured a form and more or less compacted. Following the shaping is in generally a sintering is expedient in order to bond the metal particles to one another. With the A treatment of the porous skeletal bodies can be carried out by sintering, connected or separated therefrom to increase the high temperature strength, e.g. carburization, nitriding, cold forming. That's the way it is in many cases, as will also be shown in a preferred embodiment, it is expedient to use the metal particles to compress in a soft state and later to give the skeletal body a higher degree of hardness. the The relative density of the skeletal bodies is variable over a wide range and ranges from about 4% (when using of chips) up to about 90%. It is preferably 60 to 85%.
B. Karbide, .Oxyde, Nitride. Die dazu benötigten Reakritfonsstoffe, z. B? Kohlenstoff, Sauerstoff und/oderThe filling of the pore network in the metallic skeletal body and thus the generation of the second network takes place by soaking or infiltrating. This can be in connection with an annealing process, e.g. sintering of the base body, or in a separate process. For the most part Partly molten impregnating agent either has the final composition or is a preliminary product that chemically reacts with the base body and so gives the final composition of the second non-metallic, inorganic network. as Impregnating agents have proven particularly useful in silicates (water glasses, glasses, enamel). In addition, are however, other salts can also be used, such as. B. Chlorides and aluminates. In addition, a melt of a metal or a metal alloy is also used as an impregnating agent, e.g. aluminum, magnesium, Al-Si, Al-Ti, can be used. The metals are pre-used of the shaped body converted into non-metallic compounds in the pores of the skeletal body, e.g. B. Carbides, oxides, nitrides. The reacrit materials required for this, z. B? Carbon, oxygen and / or
Sauerstoff als Oxydhaut und/oder als aus einer wäßrigen Lösung abgeschiedenes Salz bzw. daraus entstandenes Oxyd.ίο nitrogen, must either beforehand in the metal particles the skeletal body may be present, e.g. B. carbon, nitrogen, or on them, e.g. oxygen as Oxide skin and / or as a salt deposited from an aqueous solution or an oxide formed therefrom.
This inclusion of a reaction substance on the metal particles of the skeleton is also with the impregnation a silicate applicable, e.g. B. to improve wetting, to lower the viscosity when soaking or to increase the softening point after soaking.
The temperature of use of the tool should generally not be below the melting point of the tool metallic network. However, it can also be higher for a limited time if the Strength properties of the heat-resistant metallic network are sufficient. In this case the Heat of fusion and the improved heat conduction a good extraction and / or drainage of the heat from the heated surface. The non-metallic one Network should not be strong either with the substances in contact with it later on react yet to be removed from the pores of the metallic skeleton.
Das folgende Beispiel soll das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren erläutern. The following example is intended to illustrate the invention Explain the procedure.
As an example, the production of a die for the extrusion of steel blocks into tubes is described. A 24/14 Cr / Ni steel powder or coarse sawdust of approximately the same composition was compacted into a circular shaped body with a relative density of about 70%, sintered and embroidered to a nitrogen content of over 1%. The structure now consisted almost entirely of so-called "fake nitrogen perlite", a fine lamellar layer of chromium nitride (Cr 2 N) and an austenitic base material. It has good heat resistance. This skeleton body (about 600 Torr) in a vacuum oven over the impregnation medium integrally with this at the same time to 1000 to 1050 0 C in a nitrogen atmosphere. A silicate (water glass) with a sufficiently low viscosity at this temperature was used as the impregnation medium. The furnace was then evacuated, the skeleton bodies were immersed in the melt and the furnace was filled with nitrogen (about 700 Torr). After an immersion time of about 10 minutes, the dies were pulled out of the melt again. The furnace heating was switched off after a further 10 minutes.
For certain applications it was found to be useful, only those with the extruded material and the lubricant-contacting zone of the die at a depth of about 5 to 10 mm to soak. This was achieved by warming the remaining part of the die before soaking a relative density of over 90%, preferably to 95% and more, was compressed.
