Description
The invention relates to a composite pane with at least one coated film having the features of the preamble of claim 1.
Composite panes with these features, in which a film made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is embedded between two adhesive films made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB), are widely used as vehicle glazing, primarily as windshields, but increasingly also as rear and side windows. The PET film is used as a carrier substrate on one side with a heat-insulating, multi-layer coating that specifically reflects infrared (IR) rays. A thin silver layer is usually used as the actual functional layer for reflecting the IR rays, which is anti-reflective on both sides at least by highly refractive dielectric layers, e.g. zinc oxide. For technological reasons, the thin films are usually only coated on one of their surfaces. The various layers are usually deposited in large systems by sputtering (magnetic field assisted cathode sputtering).
Windschutzscheibe anordnen wollen. In order to make a laminated pane with such an embedded film locally permeable to antenna signals and/or infrared rays from remote control transmitters or the like (keyword "communication window"), the PET film is cut along one edge of the pane smaller than the pane surface. A recess can also be provided (punched out) on the edge or in the middle of the film surface. The location of the recess or communication window in the pane surface is individually determined by the wishes of the laminated pane buyers who want to arrange certain units (IR receivers, antennas, etc.) behind the installed laminated pane or windshield.
Die Beschichtung derselbenThe edge of the remaining coated PET material bends out of the film plane with a relatively small radius of curvature when exposed to heat during the manufacturing process of the composite pane (autoclave). PET films, especially those intended for installation in curved composite panes, are usually pre-stretched cold so that they shrink when exposed to heat. The coating of the same

Film, on the other hand, does not shrink. This is the primary reason why the coated side curves convexly.
The shrinking of the film is intended to prevent or minimize the formation of wrinkles or waves, especially at the edges, which also has a visually disturbing effect. Curvature of the coated film over the entire surface is also prevented by the flat adhesive film, but not the edge curvatures mentioned. For further details on the shrinking effect of coated PET film, please refer to the document DE-C2-195 34 420, which does not, however, deal with communication windows.
Außerdem erscheint der Folienrand auf einer Breite von 1 cm durch wechselnde Reflexionen optisch „unruhig".Along the outer edges of the laminated panes, the curvature at the edge of the coated film is no longer a problem if, as is the case with vehicle windshields or rear windows, an opaque, all-round edge coating is provided which, in addition to bonding the edge of the pane, also covers the cut edges of the embedded films. However, such a coating is missing, for example, on the upper edges of movable side windows, on vent windows or similar. Cut edges of the film can also run out of the opaque coated area into the field of vision of the pane surface or be completely in the field of vision. They then become visible as colored lines of around 1 mm width due to reflections on the coating extending to the edge of the film, which are not accepted by the buyers of the laminated panes (e.g. the automotive industry). In addition, the edge of the film appears visually "unruly" over a width of 1 cm due to changing reflections.
The generic document DE-C1-197 05 586 discloses a composite pane with an embedded thermoplastic, viscoelastic soundproofing film made of acrylic polymer. In order to prevent the plasticizers contained in the usual adhesive films from having a negative effect on the soundproofing film, the latter is separated from the adhesive films by PET films that are also embedded and form a diffusion barrier. One of the two PET films of this composite pane can be provided with a heat-insulating multi-layer system. However, the document in question does not discuss optical disturbances at the edges of the PET films or the requirement for the composite pane to be locally permeable to electromagnetic waves.
The carrier film is bonded to one of the rigid panes by means of a layer of glass with a maximum thickness of 50 μm.

This avoids optically disturbing effects (wave formation, hammer effect) caused by shrinking of the carrier film during the bonding process, because the carrier film is prevented from deforming by the supporting effect of the rigid pane.
Natürlich darf die Hilfsfolie ihrerseits nicht mit einem reflektierenden Schichtsystem des in Rede stehenden Typs versehen sein.EP-A2-882 573 discloses a composite pane in which a further film ("auxiliary film") is embedded in the composite pane to optically conceal the said cut edge. However, it only covers the area of the composite pane not covered by the cut-off coated film; only the edges of the two superimposed films overlap slightly. Of course, the auxiliary film itself must not be provided with a reflective layer system of the type in question.
According to the current state of the art, the optical disturbance caused by a cut edge in the field of view of the pane can also be reduced by not cutting off the coated film, but only removing the coating locally. However, this processing does not provide a completely satisfactory solution, since a "bent edge", albeit a weakened one, can also form in the transition area between the coated and uncoated surface area.
In principle, however, the color difference that is visible to the naked eye due to the local lack of coating cannot be completely avoided, either by cutting away the film or removing the coating from the film. However, for better camouflage, the relevant area of the composite pane can also be tinted, which can be achieved, for example, by coloring one or both adhesive films in a band.
Since the final installation environment in a pane composite protects the heat-insulating layers from mechanical attack anyway, they do not need to be optimized for mechanical resistance. A PVB film can be laminated onto the coated side of the PET film after the coating has been created/deposited, creating a so-called prelaminate. This greatly reduces the risk of damaging the coating during transport and further processing.
The invention is based on the object of specifying a further composite pane with at least one embedded coated film, in which optical disturbances in the region of an edge of the film provided with a layer system are reduced.

Die Merkmale der Unteransprüche geben vorteilhafte Weiterbildungen dieses Gegenstands an.This object is achieved according to the invention with a composite pane having the features of claim 1. The features of the subclaims indicate advantageous developments of this subject matter.
The above-mentioned curvature effect of the coated film according to the invention is compensated for by suitably laminating it over the entire surface against another film. If the latter film itself does not have a coating, it should be laminated onto the coated side of the first film. If the other film is also made of the same type of material as the coated film, both films shrink to the same extent, whereby the compressive stress introduced into the layer system does not result in any deflection towards one of the surface sides due to the equilibrium of forces. As a result, the other film exerts a supporting effect on the coated film. Such a film laminate is particularly advantageous when a cut edge lies in the field of vision of a composite pane, i.e. outside a surface area covered by an opaque coating or on a transparent pane edge, such as the upper edge of a movable side window of a vehicle.
Mostly, composite panes of the type discussed here consist of two rigid panes, which enclose the adhesive films or layers and the PET films between them. However, the aforementioned document DE-C1-197 05 586 also describes the design of a composite pane with only one rigid pane. One of the PET films is 0.1 mm thick. One of its surface sides is provided with a scratch-resistant layer and forms one of the outer surfaces of the composite pane. Composite panes according to the invention can also be designed in a similar way to this configuration with only one rigid pane made of glass or plastic.
Instead of PVB films, other adhesive films or layers known per se can also be used in the composite panes according to the invention, e.g. made of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers (EVA) or thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU). The latter material is used primarily when the composite pane comprises at least one rigid plastic pane, e.g. made of polycarbonate.
In einer solchen Konfiguration können die beiden Folien entweder mit den jeweils beschichteten Seiten aufeinander gelegt werden oder Rücken an Rücken, so dass die Beschichtungen nach dem Stand der Technik jeweils direkt mit den PVB-FolienAccording to a further development of the invention, the curvature effect at the cut edge of the coated film is compensated by laminating two coated films against each other. In such a configuration, the two films can either be placed on top of each other with the coated sides or back to back, so that the coatings can be bonded directly to the PVB films according to the state of the art.
VE 995 GMVE 995 GM
in Berührung kommen. The latter configuration would, for example, enable the use of the known prelaminates made of PET and PVB films mentioned above. All that would be needed is to laminate the PET films back to back and then insert this pre-product between the rigid panes of the composite. In this configuration, the two coated films support each other at their cut edges.
Overall, the layer systems must of course retain the desired thermal insulation effect and the prescribed optical transparency. The optical symmetry of the finished layer system should also be guaranteed.
If the desired effect is achieved as a result, namely to prevent the cut edge(s) of the film or film laminate from deviating from the film plane as a result of different tensions in the substrate and in the coating, the two films do not necessarily have to be of the same material type or exhibit exactly the same shrinkage behavior. The layer systems also do not necessarily have to be exactly symmetrical if the film laminate comprises two coated films, if their heat-insulating, optical and/or other properties simply complement each other to achieve the desired result.
The desired compensation effect can also be achieved by a targeted selection and mutual coordination of the film thicknesses and materials.
An adhesive layer that fully bonds the two films of the film laminate prevents not only the curvature at the cut edges but also any optical disturbance caused by rippling or delamination in the surface of the film laminate. The adhesive layer is clearly subject to high demands in terms of its mechanical strength (shear and peel strength) and temperature resistance. These requirements can be met, for example, with certain acrylic adhesives and/or TPU adhesives.
Further details and advantages of the subject matter of the invention will become apparent from the drawing of an embodiment and the detailed description which follows below.

According to Fig. 1, a composite pane 1 is provided along its edge with a circumferential opaque coating 2 which defines the field of view of the composite pane which is transparent in the middle. On its upper edge 3, approximately in the middle, the course of a cut edge 4 is indicated in dashed lines, which delimits a section 5 of a film embedded in the composite. The section forms a so-called communication window. Starting from the upper edge 3, the cut edge 4 first runs through the surface area of the opaque coating, under which it is not visually perceptible, but also extends into the field of view of the composite pane 1.
For clarity , Fig. 2 shows a section through the composite pane 1 in the area of the recess 5 along the line U-II in Fig. 1. It can be seen that the composite pane consists of two outer rigid panes 1.1 and 1.2, between which several films are embedded. The rigid panes can consist of glass and/or plastics; hybrid composites can also be made from one glass and one plastic pane. The opaque edge coating is usually applied to a glass pane by screen printing and baked in when the glass pane is heated to bend it.
However, in contrast to the illustration, laminated panes are also manufactured without an opaque edge coating, where the cut edge of the film runs parallel to the edge of the pane and is visible upon closer inspection.
The pane 1 is shown here in cross-section. It is understood, however, that the invention will also be used primarily for curved composite panes.
Two PVB films 6 and 7, each of which can be 0.38 mm thick, serve in the known manner as (thermoplastic) adhesive films of the composite. They are fused together at the edge 3 of the pane 1. The dividing line or joint between the two films visible here dissolves in practice, so that a single homogeneous PVB layer is created at least at the edge of the pane. This seals a film laminate 8 located further inside, namely in the said dividing joint, to the outside.
Dashed lines indicate that the edge of the film laminate 8 extends away from the cutout 5 and its cutting edge 4 up to the vicinity of the edge 3 of the composite pane 1 (as can now also be seen from Fig. 1), where it is covered in the viewing direction by the opaque coating 2 and is thus optically concealed.
Die PVB-Folien 6 und 7 und das Folienlaminat 8 bzw. dessen Einzelfolien werden beim Herstellen von Verbundscheiben meist von Rollen abgenommen und zu den starrenThe PVB films 6 and 7 and the film laminate 8 or its individual films are usually taken from rolls when producing composite panes and added to the rigid

Panes of the composite pane are cut to size. The film laminate 8 is cut to be slightly smaller than the PVB films so that the aforementioned sealing along its outer circumference is possible. It comprises a first cold-prestretched PET film 9, on the surface of which a multi-layer system 10, shown here only monolithically, is deposited. The latter is actually only a few nanometers thick. Such coated films are known in the state of the art and are commercially available, e.g. under product names such as XIR 70, XIR 75 from Southwall. By means of a thin adhesive layer 11, another PET film 12, here uncoated, adheres to the coated side of the film 9, the material properties of which match those of the film 9. In particular, both films are the same thickness and both films have been subjected to a biaxial cold-stretching process. If these films are heated during the production of the finished pane composite shown here, they contract in their surface area (they "shrink"). However, a curvature of the film laminate 8 made of the two PET films at the cut edge 4 out of the film plane is avoided because both films 9 and 12 shrink to the same extent and thus a force or stress equilibrium can be established.
Auch durch die zusätzliche PET-Folie 12 und die KlebeschichtThe two PET films 9 and 12 are preferably about 25 pm to 50 pm thick, while the adhesive layer 11 can be a maximum of 0.2 mm thick, but should preferably be as thin as possible. A visible light transmission of 75% is required for vehicle windshields. The additional PET film 12 and the adhesive layer
This value must not be exceeded if the laminated pane in question is to be used as a windscreen.
In the configuration discussed above, the adhesive layer 11 is preferably applied to the uncoated second PET film 12 and then laminated onto the coated surface side of the first PET film 9. The film laminate 8 thus also forms a prelaminate within which the coating 10 is largely protected from damage.
Man muss dann entweder die beiden beschichteten Seiten der Folien zueinander wenden, wobei die Klebeschicht auf eine der Wärmedämmschichten aufzu-12, a coating not shown here can be applied, which in combination with the coating 10 of the PET film 9 can develop the desired heat-insulating effect with high transparency. You then have to either turn the two coated sides of the films towards each other, with the adhesive layer being applied to one of the heat-insulating layers.

bringen wäre, oder voneinander abwenden, um die Krümmung an den Schnittkanten aufgabengemäß zu vermeiden.or turn away from each other in order to avoid the curvature at the cutting edges.
Further deviating from the illustration in Fig. 2, as already mentioned at the beginning, certain laminated panes are also manufactured without an opaque edge coating. In this case, the cut edge of the film is always in the visible area of the pane. The installation of the film laminate according to the invention then brings a considerable improvement in the appearance of this cut edge even without a cutout 5 from the film laminate 8.
Finally, a tinting of the surface area of the recess 5 or the communication window can be provided according to the state of the art, which only partially filters out visible light, but attenuates the electromagnetic rays at most weakly.
