Abstract
Directly spun cellulose fibers, characterized in that they are present as non-fibrillating cellulose fibers in the form of micro or super microfibers with a titer of 0.1 to 1.0, in particular 0.1 to 0.75 dtex.
Description
The invention relates to directly spun cellulose fibers of a low titer as micro- or super-microfibers, in particular in the form of filaments. Also described is a process for their preparation, in particular in the form of micro- or superficrofibers, in particular in the form of staple fibers, short fibers and continuous fibers or filaments, by wet or dry-wet spinning and their use for the production of carbon fibers and of textile structures. In this process, in particular the air gap or Dryjetspinnen is included.
As alternatives to the viscose process, a number of processes have been described in recent years in which cellulose is dissolved without formation of a derivative in an organic solvent, a combination of an organic solvent with an inorganic salt or in aqueous salt solutions. Cellulose fibers made from such solutions were given the generic name Lyocell by BISFA (The International Bureau for the Standardization of Man Made Fibers). As lyocell, BISFA defines a cellulose fiber obtained by an organic solvent spinning method. By an "organic solvent" is meant by the BISFA a mixture of an organic chemical and water.
A characteristic feature of these fibers is their pronounced tendency to fibrillate when wet. The fibrillation tendency is the localized cleavage of the fibrillar elements on the fiber surface in the wet state, which is due to the morphology of the cellulose fibers. This is a desired effect on the one hand; because this novel feel and effects can be achieved, on the other hand, the fibrillation also has disadvantages, such. For example, the general graying of household linen through the progression of fibrillation. The cause of the fibrillation is the fibril structure of the lyocell fiber, caused by the manufacturing process, which is characterized by very high draw ratios, especially in the air gap. The use of high degrees of stretch is necessary in order to produce textile fiber qualities with the technically available dry-dry dry spinnerets. The high degree of stretching, defined by the difference in speed between the ejection and withdrawal speeds of the filaments, is necessary to achieve the final filament fineness titer required for textile applications.
Die Herstellung nicht fibrillierender Lyocellfasern bzw. Cellulosefasern nach Trocken-Nass-Spinnprozessen, d. h. Lyocell- bzw. The production of non-fibrillating lyocell fibers or cellulose fibers after dry-wet spinning processes, i. H. Lyocell or cellulose fibers without high stretching of the filaments in the spinning process requires spinneret holes in the diameter range down to 20 microns in aspect ratios that ensure processing of the highly viscose dope. Technical solutions for the production of bores with the required parameters are not yet available.
In the production of micro-bores with diameters of 100 microns in metallic workpieces compete a number of different manufacturing techniques. These are above all micro-micro-erosion, micro-punching, mechanical drilling, various chemical processes and combinations of the individual technologies mentioned. Drilling in the diameter range down to 20 microns, as they are required as spinneret holes for wet or dry-wet spinning can be produced in view of the required tolerances and material thicknesses with any of the above methods. Die sinking with a rotating electrode (μEDM) achieves minimum diameters of 60 μm, while micro punching allows diameters of up to 15 μm, but only in films with thicknesses in the range of the diameter (aspect ratio 1: 1). Here, the mechanical stability required in wet or dry-wet spinning of lyocell or cellulose fibers is not sufficient.
Starting from the above-described prior art, the present invention seeks to propose directly spun cellulose fibers, in particular as lyocell or cellulose fibers, which have a suitable titres for textile applications and are also largely non-fibrillating. In addition, a suitable method for the production of micro and superficrofibers, this in the form of staple fibers, short fibers and continuous fibers or filaments, are proposed that through an advantageous range of application, especially in the designated textile applications. The micro- and super-microfibers should be present in particular in the form of filaments.
The above-described object is achieved according to the invention by directly spun cellulose fibers, which are characterized in that they are non-fibrillating cellulose fibers in the form of micro- or superficrofibers of a titer of from 0.1 to 1.0, in particular from 0.1 to 0 , 75 dtex. When in the context of the description of the invention "direct-spun cellulose fibers" is used, these are to be equated conceptually with "cellulose regenerated fibers". Accordingly, these are interchangeable terms, with the term "direct-spun cellulose fibers" being preferred.
The above-described teaching according to the invention is advantageously further developed in that the titer of the micro- or superficrofibers, in particular in the form of staple fibers, short fibers, continuous fibers or filaments, is between 0.1 and 0.4 dtex. Particularly advantageous direct-spun cellulose fibers according to the invention are characterized in that their wet-fibrillation grade is less than or equal to 2, in particular 1 or 2.
The invention also covers directly spun cellulose fibers or regenerated cellulose fibers which are non-fibrillating and have a titer of 1 to 4 dtex. It has been found that these directly spun cellulose fibers also have advantageous properties similar to those referred to above. These show particularly advantageous textile applications, which will be discussed later.
As a result, it is an object of the present invention to provide micro- or super-mica fibers, in particular in the form of filaments, of a titer of 0.1 to 1.0 dtex, but also those in a titer range of 1.0 to 4.0 dtex, wherein the first region relates in particular to non-fibrillating micro- or super-microfibers or microfibers, while the second region is conventional fibers, which are advantageously also non-fibrillating, with each being referred to below being spun on the basis of micro-nozzles.
Fibrillations-Bewertung: 0 bis 5 gezählte Fibrillen = Note 1; 6 bis 10 gezählte Fibrillen = Note 2; 11 bis 15 gezählte Fibrillen = Note 3; 16 bis 20 gezählte Fibrillen = Note 4; 21 bis 25 gezählte Fibrillen = Note 5.When referring to "non-fibrillating" in the context of the invention, it is to be understood that in combination with the action of moisture, scrubbing becomes effective for the structural elements of the fiber, and the fiber has no or only little cleavage of the fibrils having on the fiber surface, in particular a wet fibrillation grade of less than or equal to 2, in particular 1, should be complied with. The cellulose regenerated fibers according to the invention are thus referred to as "non-fibrillating" in this sense. This requires further explanation: Lycocell fibers produced by the NMMO process have a round to oval fiber cross section and, in contrast to the viscose and modal fibers, have a pronounced fibrillar structure which is substantially homogeneous over the fiber cross section. There are macrofibrils with a diameter in the range of 0.5 to 1.0 microns, which are relevant for the conspicuous and in the art mostly disturbing wet fibrillation and pilling. Classification of fibrillation can be carried out by means of a fibrillation test described below:
8 fibers are separated from the sample material. The fibers are placed straight on a slide and fixed at the ends with double-sided tape. The fibers are cut to length of 2 cm by means of a scalpel on the slide. The 8 fibers are filled with 4 ml of demineralized water in a 20 ml cylindrical glass jar (height 50 mm, diameter 30 mm). The test tubes are clamped in a suitable shaking thermostat (eg B. Braun) and shaken for 9 hours at 160 rpm. Subsequently, the fibers are transferred to a slide, embedded in deionised water and provided with a coverslip. The evaluation is carried out with a transmitted-light microscope (eg Zeiss Axioplan). There is a 20x objective magnification without intermediate magnification. The images are taken in phase contrast, so that the protruding fibrils can be clearly visible. Along the fiber center a distance of 580 μm is measured. The counting of the individual fibers takes place only within this measuring section. Count those fibrils that are clearly visible at this magnification. The measurement is performed on 4 images per sample, each coming from a different fiber.
Fibrillation rating: 0 to 5 counted fibrils = grade 1; 6 to 10 counted fibrils = grade 2; 11 to 15 counted fibrils = grade 3; 16 to 20 counted fibrils = grade 4; 21 to 25 counted fibrils = grade 5.

This allows u. a. advantageous uses, in particular in the form of textiles, threads, yarns and the like, as well as textile fabrics, in particular fabrics, knitted fabrics, crocheted, laid, nonwovens and wadding. These textiles, and in particular the fibers or yarns, are advantageously reinforcing materials in fiber-based composite materials.
- (a) dissolving the cellulose in a solvent to prepare a spinning solution and
- (b) wet or dry-wet spinning the spinning solution using a spinneret with a workpiece (
15 ), the microholes (12 ), the microholes (12 ) have a diameter (d) of less than 70 microns, in particular less than 60 microns, and the channel length (W) of the workpiece (15 ) in the transverse direction (z) is formed at most so strong that the aspect ratio between the wall thickness (W) and channel length (W) of the workpiece (15 ) and the diameter (d) of the microholes (12 ) is at least 3: 1, in particular at least 5: 1, and the spinning solution is precipitated in a coagulation bath to non-fibrillating cellulose filaments. It is particularly preferred if the diameter (d) of the microholes (12 ) to values of at least 10: 1 and in particular at least 15: 1 and in some cases even at least 20: 1. Here again, it is considered preferable if the maximum value is less than 20: 1, in particular less than 15: 1.
The particular suitability of the direct-spun cellulose fibers according to the invention of a titer of 1.0 to 4.0 dtex can be explained by the fact that they are non-fibrillating and error-free compared with the comparative products of the prior art and have a compact structure.
For the formation of the method, aimed at the production of micro- or superficrofibers, with the meaning explained above, according to which these staple fibers, short fibers and continuous fibers or filaments can represent, wherein the filaments are to be classified as particularly preferred, the following is to be carried out: The direct spinning of micro- or super-microfibers with the textile-mechanical properties, which are particularly suitable for textile applications, by means of wet spinning requires spinnerets with microholes of a diameter down to 20 μm, in particular at channel lengths of up to 300 μm. Experiments in the testing of the invention have shown that to produce a micro- or super-microfiber based on cellulose by means of wet spinning in the commercial range suitable / useful concentration range spinnerets with micro holes of a diameter of up to 20 microns should be used to the Zielfilamenttiter of reach up to 0.1 dtex.
For this latter method, the following can be done: The direct spinning of directly spun cellulose fibers with conventionally manufactured nozzles with microholes in the range of 70 to 200 microns with the textile-mechanical properties suitable for textile applications by means of dry-wet spinning requires a high draw of the filaments in air gap. Experiments within the scope of the invention have shown that for producing directly spun cellulose fibers by means of dry-wet spinning in the concentration range suitable / useful for commercial processes a spinneret with microholes of a diameter of up to 40 microns with an aspect ratio of up to 10: 1 (length of the Hole channels: hole diameter) must be used in order to achieve Zielfilament titer of up to 1.0 dtex without high stretching application in the air gap can. This ensures a significant modification of the phase formation process to obtain dry regenerated cellulose regenerated fiber in a uniform non-fibrillar structure.
The above-mentioned possibilities of appropriate spinning, namely wet-spinning and dry-wet spinning, are familiar to the expert in their technological importance. However, there is quite a difference in technology (mechanics) in wet-spinning on the one hand and dry-wet spinning on the other hand, which is also known in the art.
In dry-wet spinning, which involves an air gap, the relevant processes take place in the air gap, although in the precipitation bath certain control options are given. Better control possibilities exist in the performance of wet spinning with regard to the modifications in the precipitation bath.
In the dry-wet spinning process, very high pressures have to be overcome. This has the consequence that the nozzles must be made stronger, more resilient or pressure-stable. This is done, for example, by a larger channel length of the spinnerets or of this forming workpiece. In contrast, when wet spinning such a pressure-stable spinneret is not required. Here, another nozzle family is used, which is formed for example in the form of a gold / platinum Hütchens (or alloy of these two metals).
In the present invention, the choice of small spinnerets less than 30 microns in diameter can provide a regenerated cellulose fiber having a denier of 0.1 to 1.0 dtex, with no drawdown required. This is a particular advantage of the present invention. Both wet and wet-dry can be spun here. Pure dry spinning is not possible. In the development of the present process for producing cellulose regenerated fibers in a range from 1.0 to 4.0 dtex, the above statements apply accordingly.
The question arises as to which spinning is advantageous in the two embodiments described above: In the range of 0.1 to 1.0 dtex, it is advantageous within the scope of the embodiment of the invention for the wet spinning to take place, although this too Dry-wet spinning is possible. In the case of wet-spinning, the stated disadvantages of dry-wet spinning are excluded. Here, the principal difference between the above-mentioned thin plates in wet-spinning and the thicker plates in dry-wet spinning should be mentioned. For the titer range 1.0 to 4.0 dtex:
Here, in principle, wet and dry-wet spinning can be used. The range of 1 to 4 dtex is standard. The difference between the prior art and the present method is that it uses a new spinneret, with the aspect ratio playing a role. This makes it possible to produce non-fibrillating regenerated cellulose fibers having a titer of 1.0 to 4.0 dtex even after dry-wet spinning. The reason is that the fine dry-wet nozzles allow the production of a conventional titer without high degrees of stretching in the air gap. This is the reason for the production of non-fibrillating direct-spun cellulose fibers. Such a procedure was not possible in the prior art. In other words, the present method uses other nozzles and chooses the dry-wet method. In the second approach (dtex value 1 to 4), the stability of the nozzle plays a prominent role, which finds its expression in the indication of the aspect ratio.
For dry-wet spinning, the following should be added:
In the air gap, a flow of cooling gas is directed to the filaments, which is generated by a blowing device. Temperature, humidity and composition of the cooling gas flow can be regulated by an air conditioning device to predetermined or variable predefinable values. The cooling gas stream acts at a distance from the spinneret onto the spun threads and has a velocity component in the extrusion direction, so that the spun threads are entrained by the flow of cooling gas. To allow a good heat transfer, the cooling gas flow is turbulent. With regard to the humidity of the air in the air gap, the humidity of the normal room climate is sufficient for the ejection volume, while for higher polymer solution throughputs, an air humidity between 20 and 30 g water / kg air is preferred. The temperature in the air gap is chosen so that on the one hand does not fall below the dew point, ie, that no water condenses in the air gap, and that on the other hand not due to high temperature spinning difficulties. Values between 10 and 60 ° C can be set, with temperatures between 20 and 40 ° C are preferred. The cumulative parameters titer, ejection volume per nozzle hole, air gap width, humidity and temperature in the air gap correlate with respect to their effect on the fibrillation behavior of the fibers, that is, a change in a parameter which adversely affects the fibrillation can be achieved by suitably adapting one or more of them other parameters are compensated.
In the context of dry-wet spinning, it has proved to be advantageous that the air gap has a length of 0 to 200 mm, in particular from 0 to 100 mm, in particular for the formation of a non-woven curtain or films.
In the selection of the respective starting cellulose, the present invention is not subject to any significant limitations. It is preferably present as fibrous cellulose, in particular wood pulp, linters, paper, and / or in the form of other natural cellulose fibers. Among the natural cellulose fibers, adhesive, coconut, jute, bamboo and / or sisal fibers may be found to be advantageous. In some cases, it may be advantageous if the cellulose is partially derivatized. It is preferred if the derivatives are present as esters or ethers. The following considerations, which are essentially based on "cellulose" are, unless otherwise understood, also be applied to derivatized cellulose or partially derivatized cellulose. In the context of the invention, it is preferred that the esters are esters containing phosphoric acid and / or nitrogen, in particular cellulose carbamate or allophonate, cellulose-free carboxylate, cellulose acetate, in particular cellulose-2,5-acetate, cellulose propionate or cellulose butyrate, and the ethers as carboxymethylcellulose , Hydroxyethylcellulose or hydroxypropylcellulose. Accordingly, according to the meaning of the invention, "regenerated cellulose fibers" are also to be understood as meaning those which are suitable for the purposes of the invention, as can be recognized by the skilled person.
Of particular value for the regeneration of cellulose by the present process is when it has an average degree of polymerization of 200 to 3500, in particular from 300 to 1500. By processing higher molecular weight cellulose (DP> 800), improved advantageous product properties such as strength, modulus of elasticity and rigidity are achieved.
The mixing of the cellulose starting material in the respective solvent is preferably carried out under the action of high shear forces, in particular by means of an extruder. Here, a twin-screw extruder has proved to be particularly advantageous. The dissolution is further favored by simultaneously irradiated with microwaves during mixing, in particular ultrasound comes to act. The dissolution of the cellulose is promoted by raising the temperature of the solution system. Conveniently, the elevated temperature is 20 to 150 ° C, in particular 30 to 120 ° C. In addition, it is furthermore advantageous if the resulting solution is heated in the further processing for carrying out the regeneration measures, in particular to 85 to 120 ° C, and / or the coagulation medium mentioned later is set in particular to a temperature of 20 to 100 ° C. These measures have the advantage that a preferred viscosity of the solution is set and the solvent is advantageously washed out. Accordingly, it can be seen that, in order to optimize the present idea in the regeneration of cellulose particularly advantageously when using cellulose as starting material, attention must also be paid to the viscosity of the spinning solution. Thus, it is advantageous if the cellulose-containing spinning solution in the wet spinning process, a viscosity of 10 to 2000 Pa · s, in particular 20 to 1500 Pa · s, the range of 100 to 1000 Pa · s is particularly preferred, and im Dry-wet spinning process has a viscosity of 100 to 25,000 Pa · s, in particular 200 to 20,000 Pa · s, with the range of 500 to 15,000 Pa · s being particularly preferred.
The desirable viscosity of the spinning solution can also be adjusted by a targeted concentration adjustment of the dissolved cellulose. The cellulose is preferably used in the respective solvent in an amount of 1 to 35% by weight, in particular in an amount of 10 to 20% by weight. If the value falls below 1% by weight, then the desirable cost-effectiveness of the present process does not arise. The spinning solution can also be optimized by being filtered before use, especially under pressurization or vacuum. Thus, it may be advantageous to degas the spinning solution prior to further processing for the regeneration of the cellulose, wherein the degassing is preferably carried out with stirring and under vacuum. It is also possible to process suspensions containing cellulose by the "indirect route" according to the invention by, for example, preparing an aqueous suspension and adding a miscible ionic liquid as shown below. Such an "indirect approach" is possible, for example, in connection with the use of NMMO (N-morpholine-N-oxide).
Although it is not necessary for the successful realization of the present invention, necessarily include special additives. However, additives may be considered for adjusting particular properties of the recovered precipitated material in the form of regenerated cellulose fibers. These can be used at various points in the present process. Thus, they may be added to the coagulation medium, the spinning solution containing the cellulose, and / or in a subsequent step, for example in a modifying medium. The additives may be, for example, microcapsules, pore formers, plasticizers, matting agents, marking agents, flame retardants, bactericides, crosslinking agents, water repellents, antistatic agents and / or colorants.
It is advantageous if only water is used as precipitant or as coagulant and no additives are added. In addition, it is advantageous in individual cases when an alcohol or a mixture of alcohol and water is used as precipitant or coagulant.
The precipitation in the coagulation medium is generally not impaired by any particular limitations in its flexibility. It is particularly preferred if water is used as the coagulation medium, in particular with an included amount of a solvent which optimizes the coagulation rate.
Dabei herrscht vorzugsweise eine Temperatur von 60 bis 150°C, insbesondere von 80 bis 120°C.To optimize the coagulation rate, an adjusted amount of cellulosic solvent may remain in the coagulation medium. It is advantageous if the cellulose regenerated fibers or filaments removed from the coagulation medium are dried, in particular in a circulating air oven. In this case, preferably a temperature of 60 to 150 ° C, in particular from 80 to 120 ° C.
If an ionic liquid is used as the solvent in the context of the invention, it is particularly advantageous to recover it from the coagulation medium used, in particular with regard to the economic viability of the process.
It is also advantageous that the precipitated cellulose filaments are washed, especially with water. In principle, it is also possible to carry out the washing with common solvents and solvent systems, in particular with protic solvents, such as alcohols. In particular, a simultaneous or subsequent stretching can be considered.
It has been found in the present process that it is particularly preferred if the solvent used for the cellulose is polar aprotic solvents, molten ionic liquids and / or an N-oxide, in particular N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide.

It is advantageous that the abovementioned alkyl radical in the form of a C 1 -C 18 -alkyl radical, in particular an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, preferably a methyl, ethyl, 1-propyl, 2-propyl, 1-butyl -, or 2-Butylrestes is present, the cyclic alkyl radical in the form of a C 3-10 -cycloalkyl, in particular in the form of a cyclopropyl, cyclobutyl, cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl radical, the unsaturated alkyl radical in the form of a vinyl, 2-propenyl , 3-butenyl, cis-2-butenyl, trans-2-butenyl radical is present, the aromatic radical in the form of a phenyl or naphthyl radical is present, which with 1 to 3 halogen atoms, alkyl radicals having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or phenyl Rests can be substituted, and the heteroaromatic radical in the form of an O, S or N-containing heterocyclic radical having 2 to 5 carbon atoms.
The ionic liquids described below prove to be particularly suitable for the present process:
Imidazolium carboxylates in the form of [EMIM] [acetate], [EMIM] [propionate], [EMIM] [butyrate], [EMIM] [pentanoate], [EMIM] [hexanoate], [EMIM] [heptanoate], [EMIM] [ Octanoate], [EMIM] [nonanoate], [EMIM] [decanoate] and / or imidazolium phosphates [MMIM] [DMP], [MMIM] [DEP], [EMIM] [DEP]. Therein, EMIM means 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium, [MMIM] 1,3-dimethylimidazolium, [DEP] diethyl phosphate and [DMP] dimethyl phosphate.
Here it is advantageous if the molten ionic liquid has a melting point of -100 to + 150 ° C, in particular from -30 to + 130 ° C, with the range of -30 to 100 ° C is particularly preferred. In the majority of cases it is advantageous not to exceed this maximum value.
Taking into account the specific information given above for the present process, it is easily possible for the person skilled in the art to carry out suitable optimizations here, for example by varying the cations and anions of the ionic liquid, which favors the resulting structural parameters and the further properties of the directly spun cellulose fibers. As a result, the process goal can be achieved in an optimal form by the use of certain ionic liquid, wherein in particular the thread formation process at the nozzle or in the air gap is optimally controllable. Also, different desirable properties of the cellulose regenerated fibers can be obtained by favorably controlling the diffusion processes in the regeneration / coagulation of the thread and the stretching conditions.
The following explanations for the dimensioning of the microholes (
Since the designated spinneret is an important feature of the present method, it will be further explained below, with the following statements being general, ie, for wet and dry wet spinning, but preferably for dry and wet -Be crazy:
As regards the wet and dry wet spinning nozzles used in the method according to the invention, a plurality of microholes penetrate the workpiece substantially in the transverse direction. The microholes have a diameter (d) of at most 70 .mu.m, preferably at most 50 .mu.m, with the frame condition of 50 to 10 .mu.m being preferred. The channel length of the workpiece is formed at least as thick in the transverse direction, the aspect ratio between the channel length of the workpiece and the diameter of the microholes is at least 3: 1, in particular at least 5: 1. In other words, the channel length of the workpiece is at least five times as thick as the diameter of the microhole.
The workpiece is essentially flat. This means that at least the processing zone of the workpiece in which the microholes are formed, is formed substantially flat. The transverse direction forms a normal on the flat side of the workpiece. This means that the microholes penetrate the workpiece substantially in the transverse direction and that the formation direction of the microholes deviates at most by 2 °, in particular at most by 0.5 °, from the transverse direction. The fibers are then pressed transversely along the microholes through the workpiece. Furthermore, when using the spinneret for direct spinning, it is possible to produce staple fibers or an endless yarn with defined fiber properties, which can be wound onto spools and subsequently woven or knitted into sophisticated textiles.
The microholes of the spinneret may preferably be circular or elliptical.
The spinnerette has a plurality of microholes-formed extrusion orifices through which individual fiber filaments can be extruded. The quality of the microholes, in particular the roughness of the inner walls of the openings and the quality of the structural edges at the hole inlets and hole outlets (inlets and outlets of the microholes), decisively determines the properties of the fibers extruded through the microholes. In this case, the channel length of the workpiece of at least three times the diameter of the microhole ensures sufficient stability in order to avoid damage to the spinneret during the spinning process.
The opening width of the microholes, ie their diameter, is ≦ 70 μm and preferably ≦ 60 μm and in particular ≦ 50 μm. This hole size allows direct spinning of sufficiently fine regenerated fibers for further use. The opening diameter at an opening end of the microholes may, for. B. be formed to ≤ 20 microns or even ≤ 10 microns. The diameter of the microhole may vary in the transverse direction. In this case, the diameter may mean either the average diameter (averaged over the entire channel length of the workpiece) or the absolute diameter.
The channel length of the workpiece may have a thickness of 30 .mu.m to 1000 .mu.m, in particular from 250 .mu.m to 800 .mu.m. Such a channel length ensures sufficient stability for the spinning process. The workpiece preferably has a channel length of at most 700 μm.
The spinneret preferably has a plurality of microholes which penetrate the workpiece essentially in the transverse direction, that is to say they are aligned substantially parallel. The formation of a plurality of microholes in the workpiece enables simultaneous direct spinning of several superfic fibers. In this case, the micro-holes can be arranged on the workpiece side by side depending on the application. For example, the microholes, viewed in the transverse direction, may be arranged in a uniform grid or form a plurality of concentric circles. The spinneret may have at least 100 microholes in the workpiece, preferably at least 1000 microholes. For the spinneret, it is usually preferred on a practical scale that the number of spinning holes per spinneret be 3,000 or higher, and more preferably 6,000 or more.
In one embodiment, the microholes are substantially cylindrically shaped with the cylinder axes of the microholes arranged substantially in the transverse direction. By forming the microholes in a cylindrical shape, the formation of uniform superficrofibers can be made possible.
According to another embodiment, the microholes are conically formed in the transverse direction. In this case, the microholes have an inner diameter at a wall end of the workpiece and an outer diameter at an opposite wall end of the workpiece. The inner diameter is formed on the side of the workpiece at which the spinning material is introduced into the microholes, while the outer diameter of the microholes is formed on the side of the workpiece at which the super-microfiber to be produced emerges from the microholes. A conical design means that the diameter of the microholes increases or decreases substantially continuously from its inner diameter to its outer diameter. The ratio between the inner diameter and the outer diameter of the micro hole is between 1: 3 and 3: 1, preferably between 1: 2 and 2: 1. Depending on the fiber to be produced, a conical formation of the micro-hole makes sense. An inner diameter that is larger than the outer diameter may include, for example, introducing the spinning material into the microhole simplify. An inner diameter that is smaller than the outer diameter may affect certain material properties of the superfic fibers to be produced, such as strength, toughness or elasticity. In this case, the inner diameter is arranged on the inlet side of the workpiece and the outer diameter on the outlet side of the workpiece.
As the spinneret, a spinneret having circular holes is normally used to obtain coagulated fibers having a circular or circular cross-sectional shape. Coagulated fibers having a cross-sectional shape other than a circle, such as a cross-sectional shape of a triangle, a quadrangle, or multilobal cross-sectional shapes can be obtained by using differently profiled nozzle bores.
In one embodiment, the workpiece is formed at least from metal, a metal alloy, ceramic, glass, plastic and / or an organic material. The workpiece may also consist of several layers of the aforementioned materials.
In a further embodiment, the microholes are formed in such a form-accurate manner in the workpiece that deviations from a predetermined hole geometry of the microholes caused by surface roughness are smaller than 0.5 μm. The microholes are of high quality drilled out of the workpiece so that the holes hardly deviate from their planned, predetermined hole geometry. The surface irregularities caused by the surface roughness on the hole walls of the microholes are less than 0.5 .mu.m, in particular less than 0.2 microns deep or high. Precisely drilled microholes enable spinning of high quality microfibers. The microholes have a well-defined geometry over the entire hole depth or hole length. In particular, the average roughness Ra, that is the arithmetic mean of the deviation from the center line, is less than 0.5 μm.

The present invention also opens up advantageous uses, also directed to the use of the inventive direct-spun cellulose fibers of a titer of 0.1 to 1 and a titer of 1 to 4.0, in particular produced by a present process as a carbon fiber precursor for the production of carbon fibers Carbonization, optionally followed by graphitization, and the use of the cellulose fibers of a titer according to the invention of 1 to 4.0 dtex for the production of textile structures.
The cellulosic fibers according to the invention having a titre range of from 0.1 to 1 dtex and from 1.0 to 4.0 dtex can accordingly be used for a wide variety of purposes, not only those in textile materials such as threads, yarns, threads and the like, and also textile ones Fabrics, in particular woven, knitted, crocheted, laid, nonwovens and wadding. These fabrics, and in particular the fibers or yarns, are advantageous reinforcing materials in fiber-based composites.
It is also possible, as already mentioned, to use the regenerated cellulose fibers according to the invention of the above-described ranges as carbon fiber precursors by subjecting them to carbonization, possibly followed by graphitization, to produce carbon fibers.
The obtained and optionally stabilized cellulose regenerated fibers, now "carbon fiber precursors", are then carbonized and, if necessary, graphitized to obtain carbon fibers. In carbonization, which occurs at gradually increasing temperatures between about 300 and 1500 ° C in the nitrogen atmosphere, the carbon content steadily increases and reaches about 95%. By the subsequent graphitization, the carbon content of the fibers can be increased to about 99%. The graphitization is carried out by a thermal treatment at about 1500 to 2800 ° C in a protective gas atmosphere. The graphitized fibers have a higher modulus than conventionally carbonized fibers.
With the present method, therefore, the underlying goal of producing optimal cellulose regenerated fibers is achieved. In addition, this method also achieves advantageous control options, in particular all final measures of stretching or drawing. Thus, it has been shown that the supermolecular structure of a cellulose regenerated fiber can be controlled in a targeted manner by stretching the filaments on the die needed to achieve the fineness titre, and this control can be effectively performed if the stretching does not produce a particular exceeds a characteristic value for each direct solvent. The supermolecular structure determines the fibrillation tendency such that high orientation of the polymer chains, high crystallinity and long crystalline regions of a high fibril fiber fiber, and conversely, low orientation of the polymer chains, low crystallinity and short crystalline regions results in a fiber with correspondingly lower fibrillation tendency ,
Further advantages: The direct production of regenerated cellulose fibers without separation of a secondary component enables both the winding of a continuous yarn and the production of staple fibers. Based on this technology, cellulose-based micro- and super-fibers can be further processed using web and knitting technology for the first time. This allows the development of new fiber reinforced composites with special properties, such. B. improved fiber-matrix adhesion. This particular adhesion can be characterized by the specific fiber surface, which is defined as the ratio of fiber weight to fiber surface. The present invention can be advantageously further developed in that in the case of the production of filaments these are processed into staple fibers.
It seems pertinent to compare the direct-spun cellulose fibers according to the invention with the modal fibers and rayon fibers in order to emphasize the particular advantages associated with the cellulosic fibers according to the invention even more clearly or to give a technological explanation for this: Modal fibers are modified viscose fibers higher average degree of polymerization, whereby changed spinning conditions compared to viscose (rayon) higher tensile strengths in the conditioned and wet state, a higher wet modulus and a lower water retention capacity can be achieved. Nevertheless, both fiber grades in the wet lose about 50% of the tensile strength compared to the conditioned state. Furthermore, both rayon and modal fibers have a non-circular shape, inhomogeneous fiber cross-section (core-shell structure) and an inhomogeneous fiber morphology characterized by numerous microdefects along the fiber axis.
Based on the illustrated fiber properties of the known fibers, the direct-spun cellulose fibers according to the invention, in particular when they are prepared on the basis of ionic liquids, show clearly advantageous differences compared to the rayon and modal fibers both in the fiber morphology and in the textile-physical properties. The cellulose fibers directly spun in ionic liquids show a round cross-sectional shape, in particular with a roundness expressed by the L / B ratio of 2.0 to 1.0, in particular from 1.5 to 1.0, are free of microdefects and lose in the wet state only 30% or less, in particular 25% or even 20% less, of the tensile strength compared to the conditioned state.
The textile-physical properties of the viscose, modal, lyocell and, for example, in particular spun from ionic liquids fibers, which are associated with their supermolecular order states and fiber morphology, are decisively influenced by the application of different processing methods and conditions. By means of the present process, the fibers spun in particular in ionic liquids are thus imparted with an unmistakable characteristic property profile, as can be seen from the above illustrations, in particular also from the following examples.
The following examples illustrate the invention in more detail:
Beispiel 1:Example 1:
The eucalyptus sulphite DP (EWNN) 592 was first ground, dried at 105 ° C and weighed. The preheated ionic liquid is placed in a kneader and the pulp added. The cellulose was first stirred into the ionic liquid with a spatula, the solution was then stirred in a kneader at 85 ° C. After 2 hours, a complete solution of the pulp was observed. Before further processing, the solutions were degassed at 85 ° C and 0.1 bar in a vacuum oven and filtered with a nonwoven fabric (mesh size of 5 microns) at 90 ° C and 1.0 bar filtration pressure.
The 12% strength by weight cellulose solution in [EMIM] [OAc] was heated at 90 ° C. using a laser drilled steel spinneret 1000 hole, 40 μm hole diameter, material thickness 400 μm into a 60 mm long coagulation bath with a composition of water / [EMIM] [OAc] (70/30) spun. After leaving the coagulation bath, the multifilament yarn was washed in two washing baths and dried and then wound on a godet roll.
