In jedem Bremsengehäuse sind Bremskolben vorgesehen, die von oben und von unten her auf den Bremsscheibenring einwirken. Hierzu ist jedem Bremskolben ein Reibbelag zugeordnet, der durch den Bremskolben auf eine entsprechende Oberfläche des Bremsscheibenringes gepresst wird. Der auch als Bremsbelag bezeichnete Reibbelag ist auf einem Bremsbelagträger gehalten, der wiederum durch den jeweiligen Bremskolben beaufschlagt wird.
