Die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I können in an sich bekannter Weise hergestellt werden. Als
Ausgangsverbindungen werden Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel II

eingesetzt, in der R2 und R3 die vorgenannte Bedeutung
haben, R6 ein Wasserstoflatom, eine Hydroxyl-,
Carboxyl- oder Hydroxymethylgruppe oder ein Alkylrest mit 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen ist und Y ein Halogenatom,
eine Hydroxyl-, Carboxyl- oder Hydroxymethylgruppe. ein Alkoxycarbonyl- oder Acylhalogenidrest
oder ein entsprechender Säureanhydridrest ist.
Die Erfindung betrifft ferner die Verwendung der Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel 1 als Synergisten
in insekticiden Mitteln.
Die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel 1 besitzen nur eine geringe insekticide Aktivität, wenn sie
aliein verwendet werden. Mit anderen Insekticiden zeigen sie jedoch eine starke synergistische Wirkung,
d. h., die insekticide Aktivität anderer Insekticide wird
beträchtlich erhöht, wenn diese mit der 0,5- bis 50fachen Gewichtsmenge der erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen
vermischt werden.
Es ist bekannt, daß Sesamin und andere in Sesamöl enthaltene verwandte Verbindungen die Wirksamkeit
von Insekticiden aus Pyrethroide!! verstärken,

u"d die Verbindung, die diesen Effekt hervorruft, als
Synergist.
Da Sesamin und verwandte Verbindungen eine Metnylendioxyphenylgruppc im Molekül aufweisen, so
sind verschiedene Verbindungen mit dieser Gruppierung synthetisiert worden. Als Synergist für Pyrethrinc
linden z.B. folgende Verbindungen Verwendung: «~[2-(2-Biitoxyäthoxy)-äthoxy]-4.5-methylendioxy-2-propyltoluol
(im folgenden als Piperonylbutoxid bezeichnet), '.2-M';thyiendioxy-4-[2-(octylsulfinyl)-piO-pyl]-benzol
(im folgenden als Sulfoxid bezeichnet) oder 4 -(3,4- Methylendioxy-phenyl)- 5 - methyl -1.3-dioxan
(mi folgenden als Safroxan bezeichnet). Eine andere im Handel befindliche Verbindung mit synergistischen
Eigenschaften ist z. B. N-(2-Athylhexyl)-bicyclo-Γ
2,2.1 ]-hept-5-en-anhydrophthalsä ure -2.3- dicarboxyimid
(im Handel unter der Bezeichnung »MGK-264« erhältlich).
Das weiterhin verwendete Piperonylbutoxid zeigt hs
einen beträchtlichen synergistischen Effekt gegenüber natürlichen Pyrelhrinen. während die Wirkung gegenüber
der iynthc'i'äohcn Pyrcthrumverbindimg »Allethrin«
schwächer ist. MGK-264 verhält sich gerade umgekehrt wie Piperonylbutoxid. Jeder bekannte
Synergist besitzt also Vor- und Nachteile.
Demgegenüber zeigen die üiphenylmethanderivate der Erfindung eine starke synergisüsche Wirkung 10-wohl
bei natürlichen Pyrethrinen als auch bei AlIethrin, wobei die Wirkung im Falle des Allethrins
größer ist als bei Verwendung von Piperonylbutoxid. Darüber hinaus zeigen die Verbindungen der Erfindung
auch bei anderen Insekticiden, wie Cyclopropancarbonsäureestern, Chrysanthemumsäureestern,
Carbaminsäureestern, wie 1-Naphthyl-N-methylcarbamat
(im Handel unter der Bezeichnung »Carbaryl« erhältlich), oder deren Gemischen, einen starken
synergistischen Effekt. Die Diphenylmethanderivate der Erfindung sind relativ billig in der Herstellung. Sie
besitzen eine niedrige Toxizität gegenüber Säugetieren, so daß sie auch in dieser Hinsicht vorteilhaft zur Verbesserung
von Insekticiden verwendet werden können. Ein weiterer Vorteil der erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen
besteht darin, daß sie im Gegensatz zu Piperonylbutoxid keinerlei störenden Geruch aufweisen.
Beispiele für insekticide Wirkstoffe der Cyclopropancarbonsäureester-
und Carbaminsäureester-Reihe, deren insekticide Aktivität durch die Diphenylmethanderivate
der Erfindung synergistisch verstärkt wird, sind z. B.

Die jeweils günstigste Menge an zugegebenem Diphenylmethanderivat
hängt von dem jeweiligen Verwendungszweck
und von der Art des verwendeten insekiiciden Wirkstoffes ab. Sie wird vom Ausmai.1, der
synergistischen Verstärkung des insekticiden Wirkstoffes und von den Kosten d~r als Synergist vcrwcndelcn
erfindungsgemäßen Verbindung im Verhältnis zu den Kosten des insekticiden Wirkstoffes bestimmt.
Bei der Herstellung der insekticiden Mittel werden die Wirkstoffe des Cyclopropancarbonsäureestertyps
oder des Carbaminsäureesterlyps zusammen mit dem
Synergist, d. h. dem Diphenylmethanderivat. unter
Verwendung von üblichen H'lfs- und Trägerstoffen in
die gewünschte Anwendungsform gebracht, "'ic 1ösungsmittelhaltige
oder wasserhaltige Spritzmittel, emulgierbare Konzentrate, benetzbare Pulver. Stäubcmittel.
Granulate. Aerosole. Moskitowcndeln. Räuchermittel, die Wirkstoffe enthaltende Köder oder
andere Lockmittel, oder feste Präparate. In einigen Fällen ist es Tür die Formulierung vorteilhafter, wenn
man die Wirkstoffe zunächst in Lösungsmitteln. wie Xylol. Methylnaphthalin. Aceton oder Trichloräthan.
löst.
Für spezielle Anwendungszwecke läßt sich eine weitere Steigerung der Aktivität der insekticiden
Mitte! erreichen, wenn man gleichzeitig auch einen anderen Synergist für Pyrethroide, wie Piperonylbutoxid.
Sulfoxid. Safroxan oder MGK-264. verwendet.
Mit den insekiiciden Mitteln der Erfindung lassen sich auch Vielzwcckmittel herstellen, wenn man diesen
andere aktive Bestandteile, wie Organochlor- oder Organophosphorinsekticide. Fungicide. Miticidc. Herbicide.
Düngemittel oder andere landwirtschaftliche Chemikalien einverleibt.
Alle Teile-Angaben in den Beispielen beziehen sich auf das Gewicht.
Beispiel 1 6$
Eine Lösung aus 4.6 2 Benzilsäure in 10 ml wasserfreiem
Dimethylformamid wird bei Raumtemperatur unter Rühren zu einem Gemisch aus 720 mg Natriumhydrid-Paraffin
(68°/oig) und 20 ml wasserfreiem Dimethylformamid gegeben. Nach einer Stunde werden
hierzu bei 10 C 5 g Propargylbromid gegeben. Dann wird die Mischung auf etwa M) C erhitzt und 1 Stunde
gerührt. Nach dem Abkühlen wird das Reaktionsgemisch in 50 ml Wasser eingegossen und mit 3 · 50 ml
Äther extrahiert. Nach Trocknen der ätherischen Lösung über wasserfreiem Magnesiumsulfat wird der
Äther abdestillieü. Nach Entferner, des Paraffins aus
dem Rückstand erhiill man 4.6 g Propargylester der
fi-Phenyl-o-propargyloxyphcnylessigsäure als öl. der

anschließend über wasserfreiem Magnesiumsulfat getrocknet. Nach Verdampfen der Lösungsmittel erhall
man 4,0 g Allyl-a-phenyl-n-methoxyphenylacetat vom

1.2 g Allylalkohol und 50 ml Benzol werden vermischt und 4 Stunden unter Rückfluß erhitzt. Beim Aufarbeiten
gemäß Beispiel 22 erhält man 4.5 g Allyl-a-phenylii-methoxyphenylacetat
vom ir.-' = 1,5533.

wäßrigem Natriumcarbonat und gesättigter Natriumchloridlösung in der genannten Reihenfolge gewaschen

<(-methoxyphenylacetat als blaßgelbe, nach Umkristallisieren aus Äthanol weiße Kristalle

Gemäß Beispiel 7 wird 1.1-Diphenyiäthanol mit Propargylbromid umgesetzt. Man erhält das 1.1-Diphenyi-1-propargyloxyäthan

Die in Tabelle II angegebenen Insekticidc bzw. Synergisten werden in den dort angegebenen Mengen
in 2 Teilen Xylol (Spritzmittel Nr. 1,3,4 und 5) bzw. in
5 Teilen Xylol (Spritzmittel Nr. 2) gelöst und mit geruchlosem Kerosin auf 100 Teile aufgefüllt.
Aerosol Nr. 6 bis 9
Die im folgenden aufgeführten Bestandteile werden vermischt und in einen Aerosol-Behälter ohne Ventil
gegeben. Nach Einsetzen des Ventils werden durch das Ventil unter Druck 85 Teile Treibmittel in den Behälter
gegeben, und man erhält ein Aerosol.

Teilen Aceton gelöst und mit 98,2 Teilen Hiatomeenerde der Korngröße 0,05 mm (Stäubcmiiu·!
Nr. 10) bzw. 96 Teilen Talkum der Korngröße 0.07 :nm
(Stäubemittcl Nr. Ii) in einem Mörser gründlich vermischt.
Hieraus erhält man nach dem Verdampfen des Acetons die entsprechenden Stäubemittc!.

Aus natürlichen Pyrethrinen. Allcthrin. N-(CIn
>· sanlhemumoxymethyl) - 3,4.5.6 - tetrahydrophthalirrmi
(im folgenden als Phthalthrin bezeichnet) und I-Naph-
thyl-N-methyicarbamat (im folgenden als Carbaryl bezeichnet)
werden biologische Testlösungen in Acc!cn hergestellt und jede dieser Lösungen allein oder mit
der Sfachen Gewichtsmenge an Piperonylbutoxid bzw. der Verbindungen (1) bis (15) getestet Dabei wird
so die insektieide Aktivität bestimmt, indem man eine
sehr kleine Menge der Testlösung aus einer Mikrospritze auf den Rücken einer Stubenfliege (Musca
domestica) tropft. Tabelle I zeigt den LD50-Wert nach
Stunden.

Versuch B Die iusekticiden Aktivitäten der Spritzmittel Nr.
bis 5 werden an ausgewacnsenen Stubenfliegen nach der Campbell-Di ehtischmethode (Soap and Sanitary
Chemicals. Vol. 14. Nr. 6, S. 119','938) bestimmt.
Dabei werden 100 ausgewachsene Stubenfliegen
(Musca dr ..estica) jeweils 5 ml der versprühten Testlösung
ausgesetzt. Nach 10 Minuten werden die Fliegen in einen anderen Raum mit konstanter Temperatur
von 27C C gesetzt und gefüttert. Tabelle II zeigt die
prozentuale Mortalität nach 24 Stunden.

Die Stäubemittel Nr. 10 und 11 werden gleichmäßig nica) in jedes Gefäß gegeben und nach 10 Minuten die
